NEST Kitchen & Taphouse

Finally went back after 4 years and Nest didn't disappoint. Got seated in an enclosed area where it was nice and toasty. Lindsey was our sever and started off with a pineapple mimosa and mango orange mimosa. Ended up ordering shrimp n grits again and seasonal stuffed toast w/sausage and home fries. Would've gave it 5 stars again if the shrimp n grits had the andouille sausage like the first time, they used sausage patty instead. I will be coming back to try the other menu items!

I tried The Nest for a quick lunch today. Mondays are $3 mimosas and I had an orange mango. However, they were out of champagne and substituted with moscato. Still a great taste overall. The waitress shared that the donut special was cookies and cream and we tried them. They were ok. The toppings made them better but were not evenly distributed so every bite didn't have the same flavor. For an entree my friend and I both had The Yard Bird, which is a grilled chicken sandwich, with a side of fries. It was ok. The bun seemed a little thin and the sauce was put on very light. 3 STARS! This was my second time here. The environment is very cozy and I can see it being a popular destination for outdoor dining on a warmer day. The server was so nice and attentive. The food was ok. I wouldn't rush back, but I could visit again. Average pricing for the most part.

My Buddy and I always enjoy heading to NEST Kitchen & Tap House because they never cease to amaze us. After driving back from Williamsburg, what we consider to be the breakfast capital of Virginia, we decided to visit our favorite breakfast place located on Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort in Newport News. We frequent the place because of the location (not too far from us) and the fact that their food is the best, as well as the wonderful service. On this day, we started out with cocktails. I selected the R&R, a delicious Captain Morgan and coffee ice-cube ladled drink, and my Buddy ordered the famous (to us) NEST Mary aka a Bloody Mary. They did well on this one, too. I then requested the shrimp and grits, a little watery but tasty all the same, while my Grubbing Buddy ordered the steak and eggs which looked as good as it tasted. So long as NEST continues to deliver quality breakfasts, I will be sure to return and try out lunch and, perhaps, dinner in the future. I will definitely keep you informed.

Service was amazing the food and drinks. Great place for brunch!! A very nice and welcoming atmosphere . Truly have decided this our spot for breakfast brunch and lunch!!! 10 across the board!!!

Enjoy the feel of the restaurant; chill, low key upscale-ish. Our waitress was nice and helpful. She convinced me to get the jerk lime chicken tacos which is a popular choice. I'll be honest; I wish it had a little more food, had some, seemingly random tortilla chips, but the taste of the tacos was great! And that's what matters.

It was a wonderful spot to celebrate Mother's Day. Despite not being overly crowded, we were promptly seated. The food and drinks were excellent, and the staff provided fantastic recommendations with a warm and friendly attitude. The atmosphere was lovely, perfect for families, and great for gatherings with friends. I'll certainly be adding this place to my list of favorite brunch spots.

Food was great! Saw quite a few reviews that were less than flattering. We were sat immediately. Server was very attentive and had a nice personality. We had a group of 6 adults and 2 toddlers. Everyone was very happy with their food. Steak and eggs came with a chimichurri sauce that was excellent. I had the omelet with a side of gravy for the biscuit. Excellent as well. My wife had breakfast tacos. Huge! Also tastes great. Very happy we stumbled across this place. Hidden in the golf club but worth it!

Came here with my friend after having drinks at another restaurant in which we weren't fond of the menu. This restaurant is located at a golf club. The restaurant was empty and we pretty much had it to ourselves. The vibe in the evening is a dim mood but also open as well. Staff was friendly, welcoming and patient as we scanned the menu over and over to make a decision.We got the mussels to share which were gorgeous in this nice wine sauce. We also both ordered one of the featured dinner items which was the Filet Carbonara which was a balsamic filet mignon in a bold sauce with veggies. The pasta was definitely worth the price with beautiful well cooked pieces of fillet over the bed of pasta. I've heard great things about their brunch so I'm excited to come back to try and also see how service is when they're a bit busy.

We visited Nest on a Monday for brunch. It's right onsite at the country club. We made reservations on OpenTable and it was quick and easy. When we arrived, we were greeted by a hostess. She was very friendly and attentive. We were quickly seated. Our waitress arrived shortly afterward and took our orders. The restaurant is a decent size. It was very clean and cozy. Apparently, it was mimosa Monday and mimosas were $3. We each has two. Their were great! We ordered the Tradition (eggs, surrey sausage, cheese grits, and a biscuit) and the omelette with a side of grits and French toast. The meal was good. Everything was cooked to order. Being from the south, I despised the grits. They had a mashed potato consistency which did not sit well with me. I wouldn't recommend if you are a true southerner. The biscuit was a bit too hard for my liking as well. Everything else was good.

We had breakfast on Jan 1, 2025 at the Nest. The charge that appeared on my credit card statement was higher than the charge on the bill I signed. I contacted them and they believed I wasn't charged for everything I ordered so they increased the bill after I left. I don't care what the circumstances are....you can NEVER increase the amount charged after it has been signed.
