Neat Bird

Always a great experience eating at this place! A group of six of us came to dine around 5/5:30 and there was no wait. We were seated quickly and our waitress was amazing !!Their chicken is always perfectly tender and perfectly seasoned. I opted to get the house salad, which comes with various toppings. I did modify it to be without blue cheese and tomatoes, which was no issue at all. Overall, I will definitely be back to try their other menu items like their mac and cheese and chicken sandwiches!!

This place is a tough one. Lots of good aspects but is it worth the price?+ inside is fun, modern, clean and welcoming+waiter was attentive and made great suggestions+the CHEESE CURDS were the star of the show! Great sauce and a pickle brine...perfection+we both got Old Fashioned's (one holiday special and one house). They were both very well mixed with great bourbon spice coming through.+the chicken sandwiches were well cooked and juicy (more on that in the negatives)-although the cocktails were good, they were served with regular ice which is well known to water down your drink eventually. A large bourbon ice block would've put this over the top.-although the chicken was very well cooked, as many reviewers have noted, it is rather bland. Luckily our server recommended the chicken spice powder and we shook that all over our sandwiches and everything else. It SAVED the meal. I just think they'd stand to have more of that flavor baked into the chicken to begin with. The biggest problem was that for the price the bread should've been a notch above and it just wasn't. If there were some really fluffy brioche like buns which a buttery grilled flavor this would have been that much closer to perfect.-Mac and cheese was fine and cheesy. To be fair, were warned it's not fancy and he was right. This also required a good helping of the chicken powder.-the fries were just waffle fries they were good enough, but nothing more than you'd get at your local Chick-fil-A...also needed the chicken powder.Overall, if they made a few changes we'd definitely be back (especially at happy hour) but as it stands if you are going to limit you're menu to basically 2 things, chicken and cocktails you better be excellent at both and they just weren't quite there for us. In the end, they weren't far enough beyond their fast food counterparts to justify the uptick in price.

Neat Bird does two things as per their name: chicken and whisky. Both are phenomenal. They're fried chicken is the star. It's so crispy, it's so juicy. It's so well fried. It's so well priced. The sides? Great!! The other items made with their fried chicken (like salads)?Awesome! I've had a few cocktails here and have not been disappointed yet. My favorite is the slime all! I'm not a whisky drinker so I can't speak to their selection, but my husband is usually impressed by their pours. Neat Bird is well worth the visit!

Went here for the first time for my bday. We had a larger party and I heard lots of good reviews from this place but didn't know what to expect. What a neat gem. I don't know why it's only a 4.0 overall, but it's seriously delicious drinks and food. Between the house Old Fashioned, the Baudin, and the myriad of options available, this place is a winner all around in my book.I genuinely haven't found a bad thing here. Maybe I'm not a 'seasoned' person to this place but seriously - it's delicious. Been wanting to try this place for a while. Must admit we were extremely disappointed. From the way we were greeted, "How may i help you?" Well actually we're here to eat. To the absolute lack a seasoning on our food, it was just disappointing. I mean how do you mess up a chicken thigh? I don't care how well it's fried, you have to put some seasoning on it.Some people may love this place. It's just not our type of vibe. And the food was mediocre.

Neat bird is the product of the same creative team behind Crudo Nudo, a favorite in Ghent serving tapas. The same creativity and attention to detail is felt throughout neat bird, from their initial hiring process of quality people, their carefully selected liquors (and want to share things like Pappy at be low-cost prices with patrons lucky enough to get there in time) and the eclectic wall art. The chicken is always cooked to perfection, the no-frill and excellent taste shining through. Huge gluten free menu, mixed chicken pieces and excellent appetizers and cocktails. Parking is directly adjacent, staff is attentive and ambiance and music choice is great. Whether here for lunch and watching a game (as I've been), or dropping by for a weeknight treat (as I am now), you won't be disappointed.

On Sat. night we went to Neat Bird in Chesapeake. We've talked about going for months and finally did it. Would I go back? Yes. Would it be my 1st choice? No. The only reason I would go back is because I want to try the chicken pot pie. They sold out of this on Sat night. Our waitress was good not great. The other wait staff I observed was amazing! I feel like if all you specialize in or severe is chicken it should be the best chicken ever. Its ok but it's not the best and expected the best for such a specific menu. We shared a 1lb of chicken nuggets, tots, and my boyfriend got wings. Also i got the ginger dipping sauce and they need to redo that. It was way to sweet. It needs more ginger.

Food was okay the menu is a little limited... I got a couple appetizers Pork Belly burnt ends they were pretty good next I would ask them to be cooked a little bit longer. Deviled eggs were just that nothing to brag about. I tried the nuggets and fries for my entree not too much seasoning and no salt on the fries. My friends joined me one ordered a crispy chicken sandwich said it was okay and my other friend ordered the hot honey wings also said her food was pretty good. The service was okay waitress seemed distracted not sure why because the place was pretty empty. The decor is nice and simple. They have a full bar and happy hour specials. I would definitely come back to try some of their drinks.

The service today was great! We had a gentleman in a fancy orange dress suit and long hair, he was very excited to serve and engage with us. We had our Godson with us and he was REALLY excited about hot sauce, literally drank two cups. Our server even packed us a hot sauce to go. We enjoyed our time.

My wife and I love this place! Tried the pound of nugs and they were perfectly breaded and seasoned. The house hot sauce is just the right amount of heat. Bourbon BBq sauce was also tasty. We also had a veritable cornucopia of their sides. Spicy carrots, Brussel sprouts (veg of the day), Mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes were all incredible. And as always the service was spot on.
