Love them! Our beachfront townhouse was incredible! You seriously can't beat their deals for a house with such an amazing view and right on the beach. We were planning on going back this May but decided not to because of COVID. Not to mention we had just bought a house so the timing wasn't great. We look forward to the next time, though!!

We had a great time while staying here. At first we had one of the cabins (trying to rough it out) but I changed my mind. The staff was wonderful getting us a great bungalow. The place was clean and wonderfully comfortable... We extended our stay. I'd definetly recommend and certainly come back.

Our family of 6 loves camping at Fort Story! Nice small, clean campground. We use our pop-up camper and we also rented a kamping kabin this time. Kabins have a double bed, a bunk bed, air conditioning, a porch swing and a small fridge. Very nice and very affordable at $30 a night! (RV sites are only $22) Short distance from the beach, a well-stocked convenience store close by, and close to all the bay side seafood restaurants (where the locals go...not the tourists ;) Tip: call the campground directly to reserve specific sites or to change reservations. I've had confusion with the central line, but the campground staff are usually friendly and easy to work with. If you like being away from the crowds and touristy areas and just want a quiet beach vacation, this is the place. You will likely see all kinds of Navy ships, cargo ships, submarines etc!

When the hubby said that he had rented beach cottages I did not expect this. Well, I don't even know what I DID expect but .. anyways. At first glance I was a little hesitant about living in a wooden house, see .. I believe that there are spiders in every corner that will creep up on me. Turns out that there are spiders everywhere, you just can't see them. What you could see on the other hand were all the mosquitos. Blah! After overcoming the fear of spiders the cabin actually turned out to be quite cute. I loved the fact that they were all facing the middle and that there was a huge playground there. The patio swing - although build for a tall person - was a nice touch. The couch in the kitchen/living area could need an update. I felt like I was walking into a sauna when walking into the bathroom which wasn't bad just a side note. I was super impressed how quiet the house was. I mean, there were people sitting outside but once we closed the door I didn't hear anything.I recommend staying here because it is affordable and they were totally okay with us checking in late (they just left the key at the side thing with a pin code to open it). Cool place.

Navy Getaways on Fort Story is great! You can rent campsites, RV sites, stationary campers, camping cabins, bungalows, and log cabins. All sites are equipped with water, electricity, fire pits, and picnic tables. Sewage hook-ups are not included, however, there is a dump station located in the parking lot that is available for use at no charge. Additionally, there is a large area located in the center of the campground for patrons to gather and enjoy a bonfire or cookout. You can reserve at their office on base, online, or by calling 1-877-NAVY-BED. We have camped here, but we really enjoyed renting out one of the 3 bedroom log cabins. It had a full kitchen, bathroom, and linens provided. Ours had a fireplace, but I was told only a few have the fireplaces. There is a nice swing on the front porch and a fire pit nearby. You can walk to the playground or to the beach. Great little getaway! I noticed that they also rent kayaks, beach equipment, and more at their office.

We have stayed at the 67th street Townhomes before, and it's a shame to see the state they are in now compared to when it opened. We were initially excited to get two units for a week, but the poor state of the units and the lack of ability to coordinate with the management rates 2 stars. We had a total of 10 people staying in the units and only had five towels total per unit for the entire week. Understanding COVID restrictions, however the dryer in the unit did not work so we were forced to bring to buy our own towels. There were also not enough utensils or plates or pots to cook daily meals, nor was the staff responsive to requests for help.At the end of our stay, the manager Matt Sheely, promised that he would refund $75 for the dryer being broken in one of the units, but we never received the refund - even after three conversations with Mr Sheely, seven unanswered voicemails, and two conversations at the supervisor level with Asha.As a retired veteran, I'm very disappointed at the level of disrespect and poor service provided through the MWR program.
