Possibly good for a family. Not great for me. It's an unexpected layout of communal living in Navy duplex-looking housing that Jesus probably lived as a Chief. Yes that old--at least the exterior. Inside, brace yourself for a spacious shared living room/kitchen that would benefit a family staying here long term. Thermostat is communal too, FYI. Get out your room card to enter your suite: a 2-room queen bed space. It would be nice to have the suite's sofa be a pull out. Big bathroom w/ serious water pressure (flushing resembles an Oklahoma tornado). Small frig. Ok. Now for the kicker: (just like the movie My Cousin Vinnie) our suite is mere feet from the Norfolk train line! Hard pass on that--wish I knew! Otherwise, not a bad night's sleep.Parking is right in front of house, which is convenient to load car.

Me and my wife are down here shortly for her training and got a room here at the Navy Gateway Inn. Once we checked in the customer service was great and the employees who worked here have been very helpful. When arriving to our room we had parking for our car in the area and we noticed that the gym was literally right next to us (not even a 30 second walk). Once we walked into our room, we loved the layout and everything looked great! From the soft bed and pillows, bathroom, desk, reclining chair, microwave and the mini fridge. A couple days later we just realized that we had a good sized kitchen that the 3 rooms shared with silverware, pots and pans, stove, large fridge, another microwave and also a washer and dryer! This place has everything you need. Not to mention a mini NEX and a bar and grill just a short walk away.So if you're in a need of a short term place to stay for a homey and somewhat hotel stay feel with house keeping, this place is just right! It has everything you need even if you don't have a car everything is a walking distance away. Thanks Navy Gateway Inn!

The rooms are comfortable and clean and housekeeping staff professional. The buildings are older wooden apartment style buildings, so you'll hear the floor joists creaking but not bad.The price just went up to $85 a night on 01 OCT 2018 from $70 a night, so while still less than surrounding hotels I'd only stay here when a student at the Joint Warfare Center again.

This review is for suite 1147. I just finished staying there for the past 10 weeks. Here is my review. Building is old. I stayed on second floor. Floor creaks and if you live on the first floor you will hear all of it. Walls are paper thin. You can hear neighbors through walls. Tv/wifi worked great. Only a few short outages when I was there. Bed was a little soft for my liking. Bathroom worked just fine and shower was nice and hot. A must. Room has flat screen tv, plenty of storage, walk in closet, microwave, desk, coffee table, sofa chair and kureig coffee machine. Room service was pretty good. Out of ten weeks they only missed my room once. Snow days gets really scary due to ice build up along the walkways. Very slippery.Thermostat is in the entryway for all three rooms. The key is to keep all windows downstairs closed. If they are opened, the thermostat takes its reading from downstairs and will pump out heat. The upstairs is 4-5 degrees warmer than downstairs. So 68 downstairs is perfect upstairs. Kitchen is fully equipped with working appliances. Washer dryer were new and worked great. For $58 a day this was a great deal and very convenient as it is only a 5 min walk to the school house.

Update: Went back again to see if there was any availability. A different girl was at the counter and she was actually very kind and went through the reservations. Still didn't get what I was after but I can't complain about her customer service.Went to see if they had availability for my family while my wife was here. They young lady at the counter looked barely awake and also talked to me with her hands covering her face so I could barely understand her. What I could understand was that there was absolutely no housing and she wasn't going to bother to check. They had been telling us for a while that they had no room for us but they had the room to move another family that we talked to who had a sewage back up. It's strange that they had the availability to move someone but had been telling us for over a month that they couldn't help us.

Gateway inns and suites Dam Neck. We booked 3 nights but left after 2 nights due to getting done early that weekend. After talking with the District Manager we were told we would get the third night refunded to us. Still waiting for the refund. We were charged a fourth night but that was deleted from our account but not the third night.

Umm.... Roaches....The staff is friendly and do a somewhat decent job. But the basic set up of the area and buildings makes it hard for pest control. And yeah, sound insulation between suits are next to non-existence.

I stayed in a three room suite built in a repurposed duplex family housing. which was basically three different people sharing a kitchen. You have your own big room, bath, desk, dorm fridge and microwave, wifi and the full kitchen is for everyone. Works fine for TDY.To be sure, the buildings are old, walls thin, etc. The Gym and Pub are nice and in walking distance. Front desk staff was attentive. Would stay again when TDY.

We were here for 4 nights. It is a suite style hotel with 3 bedrooms and a shared kitchen. You hear everything that anyone else does because there is nothing to absorb any noise. Also, the thermostat is central so anyone can control it. When we got there it was set to 80 degrees so it was really hot. On the positive side, it's really close to a nice fitness center, a cute pub that had great food and great customer service!
