Mystic Jamaica Restaurant

My husband and I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and decided to make a date of it today. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the restaurant had a fairly decent lunch crowd with most folks getting it to go. We ordered the curry chicken lunch special with rice and two sides. I ordered plantains and a boiled dumpling. My husband ordered the plantains and corn bread. The food was delivered quickly and the portions were huge! The curry had the perfect amount of heat and was fall apart melt in your mouth good. The rice and peas we're amazing and so were the other sides. Looking forward to coming back to try additional options on the menu!

I went with a co-worker to eat because he wanted some Jamaican food. The service was good as we were greeted as we walked in and had our order taken. I got the jerk chicken with a salad and mac and cheese. The food had good flavor, but my chicken had a good bit of bones in it. My co-worker got the oxtail with cabbage and mac and cheese. He said his food was good as well. The ambiance was casual. The restaurant is located inside a strip mall and wasn't too big, but had several tables.

Service great, food is great! Always going to be my first choice to come here.. Never stingy with the servings.

Them oxtails was finger licking good. The Mac and cheese need some help. The best part of my meal was the rice and peas. I am going back to try some other items. Definitely recommend!!

We always enjoy our food at Mystic. I love the Bread pudding desert with the fried Whitings and mac and cheese. My husband loves the ackee and salt fish, cabbage and boiled dumplings.

This spot is solid for Jamaican food. I haven't been here in a minute but the food still hit. I got a mild beef patty and an oxtail plate. The beef patty was solid no complaints. The oxtail was good but I felt like the meat was over seasoned for me. The gravy was delicious over the rice and peas. I also got a side of cabbage and plantains. Now the plantains was the best part of my meal. Honestly the best I've ever tasted from any spot and the cabbage was fresh and cooked perfectly. I'll give it a 8.5/10. Definitely a must try spot!

The best Caribbean food in the Hampton Roads area! Living in Miami for so long, you crave certain flavors. This restaurant always gets it right! If you're looking for authentic Caribbean food, this is definitely your place! Friendly Staff and ambiance. Quick Service!

To the Commenter to my review. Yes I know to order roti from a trini place as a Trinidadian myself. This place roti is pre-packaged from a trini distributor I've seen the original packaging.I don't have a problem with how it's made. This is VA after all.The issue I had with this is the roti was heated up on their grill and left to burn then wrapped in my food. Which I've also contacted the shop directly on.

Delicious and generous portion of curry goat and curry chicken. The rum cake was sooooo moist and amazing. The staff were very courteous and polite, unfortunately I can't say that about some of their competitors but it really does make a difference!

Very disappointed!! Cold cabbage I've been eating here for years this is not what I'm used to!! Stew beef tasted like a ton of ketchup and A1 sauce!! Idk what's changed but Wayne needs to get back in the kitchen ASAP only reason for the 2 stars the girls working are always pleasant!!
