Mulligan's Grille in Historic Cottage Row

I have been a little rough on Mulligan's in the past, but we continue to go there for their fried seafood. It is reliably good. This time in town, we went for a Monday night half-off special that appears to be an off-season (November?) thing for 2024. That is hard to pass up and I expect we will hit them again while the deal lasts.I won't repeat all that was reported in previous reviews. Mulligan's has its hits and misses. Fried shrimp, oysters and flounder are consistently a hit. Beyond that, you have to decide for yourself. I have had Tuscan Rockfish that was so overly herbed as to be medicinal and also inedible. The "Best Burger on the Beach" is simply bad, with tough chewy bits. For a burger, go to Art's Place or even Jack Browns or McGraths.But for fried seafood place, this is among the best. On this visit, Ms T ordered a fried shrimp platter (no surprise). I tried the Thai shrimp tacos. Both plates were very good. They did a nice job on the Thai shrimp tacos, and I will certainly consider them again. Both of us took enough home for another good meal. I just wish that non-Mexican restaurants serving tacos would warm the tortillas. I just do not understand the serving of refrigerator-cold tortillas. Next time, I will ask if they can warm them. How hard can it be?If they only served fried seafood, they would get five stars. Some of the other things drag it down, but I will keep exploring while Ms T enjoys her shrimp. We won't stop going. (Bonus, it is American Airline AAdvantage dining)

I give a 5 star but recommend eating upstairs, outside, at the bar, facing the ocean, best ambience in OBX. The coconut lime rum crush is to die for!My favorite appetizer is either the crab balls (crab cakes) or the crab pretzel. Their Greek salad is outstanding. Their Hawaiian pineapple mahi sandwich is my husbands favorite. Don't let the old building fool you. Recommend going mid afternoon around 3-4 pm or you may not get a seat in season. Nina the bartender is my favorite. Oh, and you can bring your dog.

Crab Balls mostly all REAL crab meat and not a bunch of fillers, fried to perfection.Peel n Eat Shrimp perfectly cooked and very fresh tasting.Pain Killer is a must, add a floater Taste like vacation! Loved the upper seating at bar with a small view of ocean.

Mulligan's is one of our favorite stops on every Obx trip. The tiki bar upstairs is always a fun and laid back spot to grab a drink, and maybe a crab pretzel or steamed snow crab. My wife's go-to drink here is the orange crush, which was super fresh and tasty.The staff here is always friendly and provides great service. There is plenty of parking in their lot...just beware that there can be a wait for a table during dinner as they tend to get very busy.

Decided to try here. Been coming to OBX for 40+ years. Great little place. Cozy and inviting. Jordan was on top of her game! Had cocktails out ASAP! The orange crush was exactly what I needed. Great bloody mary too! Started with the Totschoes! Takenoff of Nachos. Dang! So good! Got shrimp n grits, shrimp tacos, coconut shrimp & buffalo shrimp. Heavy on shrimp but WOW!!! All great. Got the key lime cheesecake, kalua cheesecake. Nice! Did I mention how great Jordan was? Everything came out perfectly! That Jordan! So great! You could not have asked for better service! Coming back in March, June. August! BTW.... I collect koozies.

I was a little ill sure but we decided to give it a go. They had gluten free buns and they were amazing. I was impressed with the food and service. Friendly server and worked around my allergies. We will be back the next time in the area.

Grateful this business is open on Christmas. We are on vacation and enjoyed the warm greeting from their staff. Great food and friendly atmosphere. Thank you all for working on a holiday to make it special for us. We enjoyed dinner with friends we hadn't seen in MANY years.

Our final day here at OBX. Jolly Roger's got some dubious reviews so this was our go to with better reviews. We were seated promptly and food was good. The waiter was great. I got the crab cake sandwich and my wife got the green salad and chowder. We sat near the front door so saw the many beach patrons coming in. I would highly recommend Mulligans. They have a rowdy bar area room downstairs and upstairs. We've been coming for years and always a good time and good food.

The place was empty! We were the only ones there dining for lunch at 1pm. Off season I guess. We were pleasantly surprised because the inside dining area looks so much nicer than the outside/building. Clean and cozy. Melinda provided good service and the food was better than expected. We can recommend this place if you're in Nags Head/Kitty Hawk area. Beware!..they charge a service fee for paying by credit card!

We ate dinner here one night and came back for lunch two days later. Food is amazing (Hawaiian mahi sandwich, coconut shrimp, crab bisque, Thai chili shrimp tacos)!!! Service was fantastic, everyone was super nice. Shout out to Joe, the best Tiki bartender around!! Great view from the Tiki Bar. And LOVE that dogs are welcome up there.
