Two Words, Carrot Soufflé, a must when visiting Mr. B's. Homemade food to go. Smothered Pork Chops, Fried Shrimp, Baked Chicken, Fried Chicken family meal, Chicken wings, Country Fried Steak, I've tried them all. Not one bad meal...collard greens, homemade buns, and desserts, mouthwatering. So local, a favorite of mine. A must try, go and taste for yourself.

I was really hoping to give a better review but just couldn't this time. The consistency and food quality has NOT been good lately. It's hit or miss and Im embarrassed because I recommended this place for dinner last night and it was beyond disappointing for us. The catfish was so salty, omg! I love salt now, so if I'm complaining about something being too salty, then it's likely to raise your blood pressure because of the salt content. I don't know if they accidentally poured too much salt/seasoning in the batter but I just couldn't eat it. Despite my better judgement, I tried the fried okra again. It wasn't fresh, the insides were brown. Yuck. Immediately threw it out. The cornbread is always good but these portions have decreased. They used to give much larger sections and now it's child-size portions. This sucks because I love supporting good quality restaurants and this one isn't consistent enough for me. Needless to say, I won't be back here for a while and definitely won't be recommending this place to anyone.

Wonderful place for some homemade soul food. The menu is varied and so many delicious options. The place offers to go service where you can order ahead or order inside. The staff is amazing and friendly and so knowledgeable about the menu. They will inform you of all of the food options and make suggestions if you're unsure. The food is freshly prepared. Everything I preferred was piping hot and smelled amazing. The staff made sure that we got everything and our orders were correct. I recommend the carrot soufflé. It was amazing and can't find this menu item anywhere else in the area.

Let's start with the food. The fish was seasoned and fried well; the collards were tasty and are seasoned with pork, the good thing is they let you know up front for the non-pork eaters; the mac and cheese...I was highly disappointed. It was way too soupy and the flavor was rather bland; lastly dessert, I grabbed a sweet potato tart vs a slice. It's not my mama's but it was good and no strings from the potatoes... whew! The service was good, they greet you as you enter which is a nice touch. The staff was friendly and made sure to mention the lunch specials for the day. I'm guessing at one time you could eat in but it's basically takeout but they do offer outdoor seating. They have a dessert casing and a long leather seater while you wait for your order. Overall I would go back to try a few other menu items.

Was craving soul food and my wife stopped by this spot. Absolutely delicious! I got my fix! And I'll be back for MORE! By the way that's only half of the catfish. Must try yall. THE BEST yams you ever want to try. GET YOU SOME!!

This is a take out location. The chicken wings are great. The wings are seasoned well. The sides are average. The green beans are salty. The desserts are amazing! The service is good. The ambience is average. Overall I would rate it a 6.5 out of 10

The staff were very friendly towards myself and rambunctious toddler. When you first entered the establishment, you will notice that dining inside is not optional. But the space is clean and very organized. Our first order was the fried oyster with mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. Fried oyster was crispy and was given an ample amount. Mashed potatoes tasted like real potatoes with a very savory gravy sauce. Mac and cheese were delicious. Our second order was the fried catfish plate with green beans and mashed potatoes. The catfish was freshly fried, however, was a bit on the salty side. The green beans are worth a try. All in all, I would recommend this restaurant and plan to return to try their fried chicken.

Good food at a reasonable price. Great customer service. I order online to avoid the wait.

My favorite restaurant to eat at when I'm in Chester, VA after a long flight from Arizona. The food is always on point and I'm always greeted like family. I wish I could get their recipe for their "Strawberry Cake".

Refrain from can and box items! I know, I know, people who don't KNOW real and I mean REAL SOUL FOOD will love this spot!!!!! Prices have skyrocketed and texture and taste of food is totally different than pre-Covid!Fresh green beans and collards are available at various farmers markets!Your sweet potatoe pies???? Are they from actual scratch as well as the cakes, they taste like the old Duncan Hines . . . I'm good! I will cook at home and save sooooooo much money!
