Oxtails, rice & peas, mac n cheese, and cabbage. I've been to this restaurant a few times and it's always a hit. I either get the oxtails or the curry chicken. Everything is flavorful and filling. I like that there's a small grocery section inside, with authentic Caribbean foods and drinks.

Food behind the glass looks old and dried out so I wouldn't buy it. Asked for fried dumplings and they only have them on Friday. Please. Just got a spicy Jamaican patty and it was nit spicy and tasted terrible. Only went there cause my favorite mystic jamaica food wasn't open pOn Mondays. I hadn't been there in 8 years and everything I had was terrible

A pretty decent spot. I stop here once a month and get the curry chicken lunch special usually with rice and peas and cabbage. The curry chicken is very good as well as the cabbage most days. Like many Caribbean spots, don't expect much in the way of customer service. Parking can get tight around lunchtime. I also like there is a full international grocery store. The only place I can find Betapac curry. I'll keep coming.

3 stars for the Grocery section.The restaurant section gets a -2 stars... this is far from authentic. My background is west-Indian (Trinidadian) and the restaurant is just a no, any Caribbean person I met in VA had a clear warning of not to eat here. Now I'm not saying it's horrible food (restaurant) but it is far from a authentic home cook Jamaican/Caribbean restaurant. On the other hand if you personally can't cook this part of the world food then it maybe to your liking.If the grocery was by itself I would give it 5stars. Simple things for cooking chief curry/golden ray even a few vegetables local to the Caribbean is hard to come back in Virginia. That part is what I personally use and enjoy.

I always go to this Jamaican restaurant on the Denbigh area of Newport News. I went here on Thursday to get that fresh, authentic Caribbean food. I ordered the large Curry Goat with rice & peas , side purchase of spicy beef patty. I opened my container and immediately noticed they wasn't any gravy, just meat and dry rice & peas. I took the beef patty out it looked like it was knife sliced on top. I never EVER SEEN a patty look like this nor ANY Caribbean platter that did NOT HAVE some form of liquid. I spent almost $20 for this platter. Very disappointing.

The food was good for the price. Customer service was very good. The location is very close and inviting.

I'm so sorry but I can't let this go! The lady with the red 27 piece was nasty. Then the food was cold and when I ask her to reheat it. She became even nastier like I was making it up. I should've went my first gut and returned it. But I didn't want to seem like that person. 1 Star!

Save your time, money, and gas. Just take the trip to MP island in Norfolk. The women that work here are extremely rude and the atmosphere is unwelcoming. The food was 2/5 and the portions are extremely small. They're greedy and rude. Never recommending to anyone.

Food use to be good, now it's taste like it's several days old. YUCK!!

Hands down the food is good! I love the ox tails but after tonight I will NEVER spend my hard earned money here due to the RUDE and I mean not just one RUDE female worker but two!!!!! I have never been to a place where you are solely open due to customers coming in and supporting your establishment! Please don't tell me it's your cultural differences because every culture has the ability to be rude and they also have the ability to be professional and once they walk through the doors of the work place that pays them their nasty attitudes need to stay outside that door!!! Point blank period!!
