Moore to See Photo Expeditions

This excursion is the best Eco Tour I have ever been on. I didn't know WHAT to expect but it exceeded my every expectation for the quality of the tour. We met Captain Erik at the boat dock where he greeted us and went over the safety basics. He also briefed us on what we were about to see and several things to be on the lookout for. We chose an early tour time to avoid the extreme temperatures we were experiencing. He was very flexible on his time availability. Erik is also a high school teacher. He uses his skills as a communicator and educator to explain the wonders of this local ecosystem as it pertains to the waterways, marshes, rivers, and beaches. He is also a skilled photographer that uses his knowledge of the area to take people out on photography expeditions. If you are a bird watcher he will sculpt the tour to maximize the bird sitings for the day. His tours are absolutely personalized. On our tour we saw multiple bald eagles, ducks, osprey, their nests and habitats. We got to see(from a safe distance) a water snake and a water moccasin. We pulled nest to an area that was populated with butterflies- lots of butterflies. He explained the different grasses and trees. We were able to see the bald cypress trees growing in the water. The entire trip is educational as well as enjoyable. Time went by quickly. This is different kind of tour for the area that more people should try out.

Erik provided an amazing tour of the hidden side of Virginia Beach away from the tourists and traffic. We spent a couple hours on his very comfortable boat cruising and exploring--what a fantastic time he showed us! It was a perfect day on the Intercoastal and local creeks, and an ideal way to show my visiting family something really special. From local lore to history to geographical highlights to highlighting wildlife, Erik is a born raconteur who knows the local poquosons like the back of his hand. Think you know Virginia Beach?
