The Miyazaki Japanese Garden is located inside of Red Wing Park. It is located near the front of the park, so when you come in, you can park in that first parking lot to the left after entering and can fill up quickly. There is other parking throughout the park, but you would need to walk further to this part of the park. My most recent visit here was on March 25, 2023.When I visited this time, I didn't realize that there would also be a Cherry Blossom Festival the same day. I was there in the morning, so they were still working to set everything up for that event in other parts of the park. Virginia Beach and Miyazaki City, Japan have been sister cities since 1992. Since this is part of the city parks system, there is no cost to visit this place. I do want to note that pets and bikes are not allowed inside the garden. This garden is small, but it packs a lot to explore in that small space. It is unique to the rest of the park, and most other parks in general. The cherry blossom trees were really beautiful this time of year too, as it is near the peak time for it. The garden also gives a nice calming feel to it. There is a koi pond, as well as a small waterfall too. There are a few nice bridges, including a stone bridge. Many parts in here are dedicated to people or Miyazaki City, Japan.Overall, this is one of my favorite spots to visit when going to a park. It's close to where I live and this part of the park is unique in its own right. If you are in the area and looking for somewhere to visit outside that isn't a beach, this is definitely worth visiting.

I thought this place was cute! It's small but I'm surprised to have found a Japanese garden in the area. It's a nice peaceful walk / date idea so good for pictures. Very calming & serene.

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this Japanese Garden after visiting Red Wing Park. It was filled with history, and needless to say, it was beautiful and there were still cherry blossoms. It felt very peaceful and serene being here.I recommend for anyone looking to explore, learn more about history and culture and a nice, peaceful walk.

Located at Red Wing Park, this small Japanese garden is like a hidden gem. Autumn is a bit messy with the leaves. Can't wait until spring time.

Personally this is such a unique spot. My husband and I like to plein air paint. We have both come here to sit and watercolor. The sound of the water is relaxing. Watching the little fish and frogs is also relaxing. It is just a wonderful place to relax and unwind, soak up the beautiful elements of the Japanese garden.

Lovely small Japanese Garden. I enjoyed our visit to red wing park and added this garden to our itinerary. I probably wouldn't say it is a destination on its own due to the Petite size but it was relaxing and well kept. You could find a nice quiet moment to relax and take in nature. Sadly at least one cherry tree looked dead but hopefully it will be replaced in fall when new tree planting it most suitable.

Located inside of Red Wing Park this is a small gem that is known by few. It's FREE of charge. The garden is located to the right of the entrance and it's up front. Plenty of parking is available. Every time I've gone the lot and garden have been clean and highly maintained by the City of VB. The hours are the same as the park sunrise to sunset. The Japanese garden was created to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the sister city relationship between Miyazaki Japan and Virginia Beach. There is a koi pond with bridge that's fantastic for photo shoots. There is also a covered bridge. The best time to visit is Spring.I would recommend and tossing in the extra star for its uniqueness in the area and the fact it's impeccably well maintained.

Such a cute little scenic park to take a stroll! Their Japanese garden was a perfect place to take pictures and enjoy the cooler weather. If you have pups coming along with you, I'd suggest driving all the way back as they have a huge spot to roam and play with your pet! There was lots of parking available onsite & would definitely suggest wearing comfy closed toed shoes to enjoy the walk in the park.

This Japanese Garden is located within Red Wing Park and not too bad. I don't have an actual paid Japanese Garden to compare to but I thought it was decent for a free one and it was my first. It feature a nice koi pond in which I only saw 2 koi fish, a cute red wooden bridge to cross it as well as a small concrete arch bridge too. The park was donated various cherry trees and had some lovely plants to gaze on. I loved the Japanese maple trees as well. It also had a sand and rock garden which I was hoping there'd be a sand rake but there wasn't. There was leaves and such on it which I cleared out. There were a couple nice pergolas and a nice rock garden as well. We spent maybe 20-30 mins gazing and taking pics as there were so many photo ops there. Beautiful and serene. Enough for a free place to check out and walk around
