I have been to La Loma a couple of times now. On my first visit, I was making my way to the Dollar Tree in the same complex, when I saw the word "bakery". I was immediately intrigued and decided to make a detour to check it out. The "open" neon sign was on, but the lighting inside the shop is not very bright, so it gave the impression that it was closed. It has a very modest decor. Nothing fancy, but practical. They have the typical armoire-like cabinet to hold and showcase their baked goods and a cold fridge. Two words: tres leches! This cake is sold by the slice, but according to some other reviews, you can order by the cake too. The tres leches is 2 layers and each layer is THICK. The cake is saturated nicely with the three milks. The container looks jam packed. If I remember correctly, the price was super reasonable too! Tres leches is one of my favorite cakes and this one did not disappoint. I had to eat it in the course of a couple of days. I have tried all sorts of things thus far, from vanilla cookies, sweet empanadas, to puff pastry in the form of a long stick and they were all great. I also recently discovered the Boing! Guava pulp beverage and it was delicious! This bakery is the true definition of a mom and pop panaderia.Never stop exploring and enjoy, Friends!

Small bakery with not much to choose from at the end of the day. If you arrive at opening you have a much greater chance to snag something tasty and fresh. They sell Mexican cokes (IYKYK) and a variety of other sodas. Inside the store is small BUT you can smell fresh bread and pastry in the air. Located in a small strip mall so there is ample parking. Don't forget to arrive early so that you can have first pick of the fresh cookies, breads, and pastries. Happy Eating Yeeps!!!

Love the fresh baked goods here. Their aroma hits you in the face even before you walk in the door! They also make an amazing tres leches cake - they need 72 hours advance notice, but you can select a variety of flavors for the filling. We opted for peach and it was muy rico. Mexican donuts are a can't-miss treat too. Hasta luego, La Loma!

My friend at work told me about conchas and I had no idea what these were, so I had to go out and find where they sold them. La Loma was the perfect place to look! It is definitely a hole in the wall Mexican bakery that was super delicious! Upon entering, we weren't really greeted and weren't sure if it was self-serve or if they get the bakery items for you. We went up to the counter and asked for a concha and he gave us tongs to grab it ourselves so I assume this is a self-serve place. The prices were way less than I expected. The concha was pretty big in my opinion and was under $2. It was definitely a sweet bread with a layer on top that was similar to a thin, crumbly sugar cookie. I truly loved it and wished I got more! I was advised to dip it in hot chocolate so we'll definitely come back for more and to try some other things. Will definitely be back to try more when I'm in Chesapeake again!

Has the traditional Mexican bakery flavor. Would recommend if you like the traditional flavors of pan dulce from regional Mexico.

This is a review based on a trip during the COVID-19 pandemic. We just started reopening businesses in the area which may explain why the store looked completely shut down.My daughter and I came here on a Saturday morning for some Mexican goodies. I didn't realize it was in a shopping center that we're very familiar with. It is quite a small store and nothing fancy. There's a stand of assorted Mexican chips at the front. To the left, there is a refrigerator of Mexican soda, chocolate milk, and other desserts. On the counter were two trays of different bakery items that I will not even try to write. All I can say is that there were chocolate and vanilla cookies, cakes, pineapple pastries, cream cheese pastries, banana muffins, breads and sesame rolls. All the baked goods sold here are baked on site! Can't wait to come back.

This bakery is very basic inside. There is a refrigerator with cakes and drinks, then the counter across from it with an array of the baked goods selection they keep in the kitchen. There were also some other snacks such as Mexican Cheetos. The man working there told us the general flavor of each item, but not the names of what they're actually called. I personally had a pineapple cake of sorts and it was tasty, but nothing extremely memorable. The prices were amazing- you can get a lot for very little. Overall, it's worth a stop if you're in the area and want a quick treat.

Greeted upon entering the door, offering various sweet breads and cookies. I especially enjoyed warm feeling walking in and the cooking aroma of the freshly baked goods. I purchased one Chocolate, one Pineapple bread, and pineapple coconut cake square and ate all three. Delicious!!!
