You have so many Mexican choices - choose Maya's!!OMG it is sooooooo you will not be disappointed!The taco salad was top shelf - not your basic shredded iceberg lettuce with some shredded cheese in a stale bowl - homemade puffy and crispy bowl! Biria was made my taste buds Beyond the yumminess of all we ordered - the thoughtfulness of the packaging for delivery was THE BEST I have ever seen. This is the FIRST restaurant to make package my taco salsa in separate containers so I didn't have a gross soggy shell and lettuce. It may seem like a small thing ... but once you get it you realized why has no one else done this?? Chefs Kiss to the whole experience. I'll be dining in soon since they are so close.

I just moved to the area and was looking for something to eat and saw the reviews were pretty good so I wanted to try for myself... when I say they did not disappoint! We went on a Tuesday evening during happy hour. The service there was great, were greeted as soon as we entered and were able to sit down immediately. It's a nice quiet restaurant from the parking lot we thought they were packed but there were only a few people inside. I wish I had taken more pictures but the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Birria Quesadilla and my mom ordered the chicken fajitas. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food along with the queso, guacamole and chips. The margaritas were also good.I'm already thinking about my next visit!

If you haven't been here, you're missing out. The building is beautiful with a very friendly staff. The birria tacos and consume were phenomenal. The drinks were also perfectly mixed. Maya's is not far from the airport or downtown Richmond and is well worth the visit. Best restaurant in the East End by far.

I was so excited to see that Maya was opened. I have been waiting for this! When we walked in, we were told to sit wherever. That was the first mistake, only two of the tables were clean. I would rather wait for a clean seat than walk around to see many dirty tables. The staff was accommodating and cleaned the table pretty quickly. This was one of the first nights so we looked past it. Honestly, the service didn't get better. But again, it's still early days.I must say I was very excited about the menu, tortas and empanadas! We ordered a birria empanada and the ground beef and potato empanada. Both came with their own sauce, the birria sauce was not what I was expecting. It was more of a hot sauce with a thick consistency vs a consume. The biggest complaint was the size of the empanada. It's a very small portion for $3.50. The taste was meh. I also had the carnita enchilada tacos. I'm used to carnitas being more of a shredded pork consistency. This was more of a sliced pork. I felt like the meat needed a little salt. This was the highlight of the meal.

Excellent food!!!! Owner talked to us about the Mole and how his mother makes it in Oaxaca. Everything was delicious, service excellent!!! Found it on Yelp driving home to DC from NC. Will make a stop every time. Amazing food, atmosphere and service. Super clean, cool vibe, compostable take out boxes.

Ate dinner last night and I feel for this area the prices are too high. The salsa was a little watery but, fresh. There is no heat to the salsa. The chips are a bit thick and hard for my husband to eat because of dentures. You have an option with the tacos to get 2 tacos with Spanish rice or beans or get 3 tacos with no sides. The meat lacked seasoning. My husband says his steak was tough and too much cheese on the quesadillas. Says missing seasoning. I feel the price that they are charging you should get sides. The service was slow but the atmosphere was nice. May not return due to the many options for Mexican food in the area.

We've been to Maya's a bunch of times since they've opened, and have loved everything. Their enchiladas are really flavorful, their tortas (basically a melty sandwich) are to die for, the maduros are so sweet with the best dipping sauce, and their agua frescas are so refreshing (basically they're various infused juices). Their chips are well seasoned, and their queso is flavorful. Everything is much more authentic than what you'd normally find at an American Mexican restaurant.We've had both takeout and eaten in restaurant, and have been pleased every time. They're also open much later than most Sandston spots, which is great. Highly recommend!

I was in town for work and found this place. If you want good tacos, this place is the best in the area. Best Birria tacos I have ever had. The service is awesome also. Don't miss their Taco Tuesday special. And $2 tacos during happy hour!
