Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls - Shore Drive

Returned to Mason's for that lobster roll craving today. Ordered the traditional lobster (x2) and lobster salad roll with potato salad, slaw, and a paper bowl of clam chowder.The lobster rolls were the same flavor as before. Bits and pieces of lobster on top of soft bread heated over butter. It's practically having lobster without having to dip in butter. While the salad roll had a bit of fresh taste due to the bits and pieces of celery and a touch of lemon.Slaw was just as good, crunchy slivered cabbage with bits and pieces of carrots, mixed with just the right amount of dressing. The potato salad was OK. Reminded me of Reese yellow mustard potato salad. The clam chowder was OK as well. Something was missing in this chowder. Plenty of potato and celery over gravy. Unfortunately, the clam was missing in action on this paper bowl of clam chowder. By the way, each lobster roll was served with a 1/4 pickle. Cashier did ask if I wanted a pickle. I said, Sure! Pickles were OK as well. A bit on the soggy side. The wax paper that they were wrapped in had already absorbed the brine that the pickles were soaked in. For sure, these were not Vlassic. There was no crunch:-))))))One of the lobster roll was a to-go. The other two was shared with the company.As for the ambiance, it felt like I was in a Sugar Shack:-)))) Wait, this was previously a Sugar Shack.Good place to go to for a quick fix of lobster on a bun - from Maine.

How could you ever go wrong, warm & buttery !! The food came out very fast & the workers brought it to the table. I would recommend sitting outside it's really pretty as the sun sets.

1. Selection - 5/5 - you can get 4 different kinds of lobster rolls in 2 sizes; I got the Connecticut Lobster Roll in the larger size (warm with butter); delicious! My daughter had the Classic Lobster which is similar but cold with a smear of mayo and lemon butter; also delicious; you could also get Lobster Salad Roll (cold mayo) or a shrimp roll2. Price - 5/5 - I felt the price was reasonable compared to other Lobster Rolls I've had other places along the eastern seaboard; remember this is NOT McDs!3. Flavor - 5/5 - tender, flavorful, fresh with a butter-toasted bun; I have a place down in the Keys called Eatons which is famous for its Lobster rolls which I compare others to. This is the first I consider as good as them! I consider myself a potato salad snob. The potato salad was just right. Not too sour. Not too sweet. Lobster Bisque was also very good (you can get Lobster added for $4 more but we didnt)4. Additional: Clean restaurant. Nice outdoor seating. Fast service

I'm so happy my local friend brought me here. I had been jonesing a lobster roll and here it was. Someone wrote that they are pricey, but actually this is the cheapest one I've ever seen outside of Harris Teeters sad excuse for a lobster roll. Mason's is cheaper than Cousins Main Lobster by about five bucks. Also, they are $10 cheaper than my favorite place in Silver Spring, Maryland. As for taste, I'm a warm and buttery lobster roll lover. It was delicious. The roll was piled high with tender lobster meat. With the purchase of an entree you can purchase a cup of soap for $4.00 (a $1.50 savings). So of course I had the lobster bisque. It was delicious too, except it had zero lobster chunks in it. Zero. The menu says you can have it topped with lobster meat for an additional $3.50, but I would think there would be lobster meat in it also. So, I added meat from my roll. Because of the lack of lobster meat in the soup, I probably would not order it again, but I definitely will be back for another Connecticut style lobster roll next time I'm in town.

The young lady that took my order was nice, she was able to tell me about the different types of lobster rolls. I consumed the lobster roll and clam chowder. The lobster was good not meaty enough for the price. The bun was nice buttery, and crispy. The clam chowder was bland.

Amazing service with a smile from both employees that were present. We loved their attitude and food! Very thankful for them! I took my dad out tonight to celebrate his wedding anniversary to our mom and we had an amazing night. The young lady offered to take a picture for us and the young man working made us a delicious dinner. He was very sweet too. I can't thank you enough for such a lovely evening to remember spending the evening with my dad. I will never forget this night nor will he! Thank you! Again the food was AMAZING!! If you love lobster like we do this place is IT!!

Finally made it to Mason's to try their lobster rolls! I'm from New England and have been feeling a little homesick with the summer weather coming around. Their branding is great and definitely draws you in from the street. they have both indoor and outdoor seating and the restaurant itself seemed clean and well-run. Customer service was friendly and accommodating. All of the employees working at the counter were smiling and helpful. They offer samples of the soups, although we weren't offered this. Wish we had gotten them, because I purchased a clam chowder and didn't love it.Food-wise, the lobster roll didn't satisfy as a self-proclaimed lobster roll connoisseur. The lobster meat itself seemed to be a bit water-logged and the lobster salad was severely under seasoned. Glad we finally tried it out, but will find my occasional lobster roll craving elsewhere.

I finally got to Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls! Been a lobster roll fan since living in Newport, RI. I love a warm lobster roll over a cold one, so I got the Connecticut Lobster Roll. It had the perfect warmth, there was plenty of butter inside. I was really full after finishing my meal. The lobster bisque was delicious and I recommend it! The staff was nice and especially it was so nice, there was a staff member that would check on us often, and was always kindly cleaning up, and making sure we were having the best time at the restaurant. The place is organized and clean, I love kind of the by the water, picnicky feel if that makes sense. It was so relaxing and casual. It was easy to get to, near all of the Shore Drive fun and parking was plentiful when we got there. It was a fun experience!

On a rainy afternoon, we needed a quick snack and found Mason's to be perfect with its quick service and good ambiance. The place was filled mostly with tourists, and we loved the variety of beverages they offered.
