Beautiful park during a "sunny afternoon". It's bright with the trees reflecting its beautiful green color.

I am impressed by this nearby city park. I had no idea this was even here until we moved into Shadowlawn a few months ago and it's a pleasant surprise. It's much larger than I expected and I love the dog park, large green area with the small three children's play areas, paved bike/running trails and the entire area. It's very big and there are several walking/hiking trails inside the main portion of the park spanning several miles and meandering through a wooded area that follows the marsh. It's well-kept and has multiple entrances from the Shadowlawn neighborhoods. -The entrance from VA Ave has a very small parking lot and then street parking.-The entrance from Indian Rd. has a much larger parking lot with plenty of space and opens to the large, green field with 3 separate play areas for toddlers with climbing sculptures in the shape of frogs and caterpillars. Really cute and has a pavilion and circular paved trail around it. -The entrance from Marshview Dr. has a small lot and this is where the dog park area is as well. Two tennis courts here across the street which are part of a small playground/tennis complex called Salt Marsh Park. Last weekend I finally went for a hike inside and covered about 1/3rd of the likable/walkable space. It's gorgeous! It's also neat bc they have it set up for trail bike riding and it's very well marked and laid-out. I came upon some beautiful areas for sitting and enjoying the view. If you haven't ventured here yet you should give it a try - actually pretty impressive in size and option for a neighborhood co-located park.

100 acres of beautiful trees, paths, dog park and 2 different playground areas. What a fun park. Loads of mature beautiful trees and they have areas that are grassy for kids to run and play. Lots of dogs at this park. I LOVE dogs.2 Different playgrounds. The playground area was my favorite. There were no kids so we explored the playground. Huge size. It was awesome. So their playgrounds are spread out. They have one at the area where you park your vehicle. You walk or ride your bike a ways turn right into another area . Nice size grass area to run and play and then 3 sections of little whimsical play areas. Frog area, Caterpillar area, and turtle area.Really nice paved walk ways with these beautiful little bridges. Dog park, People and Pet friendly. Wheel chair and stroller friendly. Great for bikes. They even have a station for bike repair and to pump up your tires. EXCELLENT for us we love riding our bikes. This is such a lovely area we were just riding our bikes around and found it. We love it. It has a lot to offer and it is very well kept

Quiet, spacious and separate area for kids and dogs. There are 4 dog areas not identified for any particular size, well separated, no additional play items or anything for the dogs to climb on just free play with others. The dog area doesn't have a hose but did have a water supply. The kids area is across the street where the tennis courts are.

One day this Park will look very different. Just a few years ago there wasn't even a paved path, but now there is a short paved area that leads you to a few trails around the park. They are in the process of adding a dog park and I believe some other park enhancements as well. I see a lot of people using the trails for biking, but we have just used it for some social distancing friendly outdoor time with the pups. We rarely encounter anyone else back there so it is nice to just casually stroll and enjoy the fresh air. The Park is tucked back in a residential area. I wouldn't know anything about it if it weren't for my friends who live in the attached neighborhoods. There is limited parking, but more street parking available in the nearby neighborhoods. Bring your own poop bags for your pups. You should obviously be doing this anyways- but it's still worth noting. There are a few bag stations, but mine never poops near one. There isn't a map to my knowledge, but the trail loop we take is about a mile long. The nice thing about a lot of parks in Virginia Beach, you can't get too lost. Once you've hit the water you can typically find your way back to the real world pretty easily. The views here aren't particularly scenic, but it's a nice escape from urban life and people.

Marshview Park & Natural Area is a moderate to large park. It has been recently updated and boasts a playground, open field, dog parks, pavilions, and paved walking trail through part of its wooded and marshy areas. The park is very clean overall. 4.5* rounding up. -- The Playground --The main playground area with wood chip mulch is best for elementary school aged and even middle school aged children. The equipment is in like new condition; with close supervision it can work for younger children (note that there are gaps in the openings along the playground system), but the slides are pretty high. As an adult, I thought the slides were great, but my toddler (on my lap) was a bit nervous. There are baby/toddler swings, one intermediate swing, and regular swings. The playground is in full to partial shade depending on the time of day. -- Mini Play Areas --Separate from the main playground, there is an open field with a paved walking path around it (also accessible from the wooded walking path) with 3 small play areas aimed at children aged 2 to 5. Each one has a faux tree truck that can be climbed on, a stationary animal sculpture that kids can climb/pose on, and another activity (faux stacked rocks, a mini swing, leaf-shaped steppingstone activity). These areas also have wood chip mulch and a bench. -- Benches & Pavilions --There are numerous pavilions with single picnic tables beneath them, located by the main playground, along the perimeter of the open field, and inside the wooded area along the paved walking path. There are several trash cans. There are a few benches along the perimeter of the playground and one at each mini play area. -- Walking Areas --There seems to be one main paved walking path/trail that runs through the wooded area and seems to be about a half-mile long. It links up to the open field and the mini play areas as well as the dog parks. There are other short paved paths along the outside of the open field and short paved paths connecting the parking lots to the nearest feature (main playground, open field, dog parks). The overall natural area is much larger than just what is accessible by the paved path, but if you keep to the path, it's easy to navigate. -- Sporting Equipment --There are no other equipment options other than the playground and mini play areas. -- Amenities --There is a portable toilet near the dog parks, but there is no restrooms with plumbing, which is not ideal for a long visit. The City has identified this as a possible expansion for the park in the future, but it's currently unfunded. -- Parking --There are at least three small parking lots specific to this park. The address listed on Yelp is the location nearest the main playground. -- Things to Note --During peak times, it's usually very busy with kids and has quite a few people walking or biking on the paved path. It's close to a marsh (hence the name), so mosquitoes might be an issue in warmer weather. -- Takeaways --This is an excellent city park and natural area. The main attractions are the paved walking paths, playground, and dog parks. I just wish they had a restroom with plumbing and it would make a perfect all-day place to visit!

This is by far my most favorite park to walk in the mornings with the puppy. There is never many people on the trails or path and if there is anyone on it they are super friendly! It is not a big trail by any means but if your looking for a nice quite spot to walk and gather your thoughts....this is that spot. There is no map, but the paved trail is about 1/2 mile long. It leads to other dirt trails and you can get some good leg work in on them. All of the trails lead back to the paved path, but some do get kinda confusing when your trying to find your way back, as a lot of paths split off from each other. I always bring my own poop bags for the dog, but they do have stations on the paved path that are always well stocked with the trash cans never overflowing. It is exceptionally clean and never any trash spotted on any of the paths. This trail would be good for walking, running, and biking.

Nice urban park tucked away in a residential area. You can walked on a straight paved path that ends at another little park with kids playground. There are also unmarked trails through a small forest the abuts a marsh. Small free parking lot.

This was so nice! Not a lot of parking so if you go with the family make sure you car pool. They have a beautiful mermaid library box at the front if you're interested in swapping out books. After crossing the bridge there are three paths. Two are wooded and one is a man made concrete pathway. My husband and I took my dog for his birthday. We never explored paths but this one was really nice. I didn't see any snakes though I'm sure they were there so just be careful when you come.

I went biking and it was okay. There's a few spots to do some sick jumps and a couple logs in the path to make it interesting. The trail doesn't seem very long and it all connects together in different parts...or it may not connect at all. I'm not sure. I had to turn around at some points lol. Although I might not go back to bike, I'm sure it's nice place for a walk/run. Maybe I'll do that. Watch out for the poison ivy. Also the parking lot is pretty limited too. And there's very little litter. Hopefully it stays that way!
