Maria's Family Restaurant & Pizza

Central location in Chincoteague.Cafeteria and family restaurant atmosphere. Nice service, reasonable prices, and decent food. We ordered： 4*Chincoteague Fried Oysters: fresh and tender. Presentation was minimal. It came with salad. The salad wasn't that fresh, especially greens. Some directly from canned food, such as pineapple cubes and beans. I had to be careful about what to put in my mouth. 3*Fresh Flounder: different ways to cook, we ordered fried. It was fresh and tender. Two side: beets and coleslaw.

Breakfast buffet -- first of all it's a buffet...so that to start with isn't all that great, but that said you'd think there'd be a good amount of options -- well there's not. It's continental breakfast at best, and it's really really bad. And there was a fly in my coffee served to me that way, I didn't notice until after a few sips when I added creamer. I mentioned it to the waitress and she acted as if it happens all the time. Good luck if you decide to eat there.

Food was mediocre. Fried shrimp was a funny color and flounder was tough. Kids liked the Mac n cheese so I guess that's a win. The crab dip flatbread would have been good if it had more than a dab of crab dip in the center. Didn't cover the whole thing which was not only a disappointment but a ripoff.

We've definitely had better but on a Sunday evening after 6 pm, this was about the only place that was open. No one that was working in there looked happy. The menu has a good variety of pasta, pizza and other things. There is a salad bar that you can get on its own, some entrees come with a visit to the salad bar.Maybe we ordered the wrong things. My taco salad was topped with shredded mozzarella but would have been better with cheddar. His buffalo chicken salad had the buffalo sauce drizzled over the whole salad while we generally see it with the chicken pieces dipped in the sauce. If the employees had presented with a more cheerful attitude, we may have enjoyed our meal a little more. As it was, we couldn't wait to leave.

Mmm Was expecting a little more since it's a big place on main road to beach.But the food is just average taste ...ordered 2 cheese burgers and steam shrimp.The burgers were small and can tell the meat is frozen patty taste when cooked, the 'Californian special' was not great but a mess stack with hot sauce ,avocado and fixings and that's it....thank god for fries.Besides the annoying fly's flying around ...anyway it have other choices and better taste ...take it.

This is not Gordon Ramsey's establishment. If you're a culinary expert and expect table cloths and $100 bottles of wine, you're barking up the wrong tree and probably should understand this is a mom and pop place and the island, like everywhere else, is struggling to keep help (insert mic drop). Think older clientele, going for lunch after church. They have a buffet. I don't do buffets but if that's your thing, I think it's $14-$15. Pluses: The staff is friendly and the service is decent. The iced tea is real (not powdered mix). The salad bar isn't bad. I got a salad with my pasta dish. My husband ordered the fried chicken with 2 sides. I ordered the ziti. The mashed potatoes are instant (pretty common for this style of restaurant). The chicken is ok, the green beans were better than they looked but needed seasoning. My ziti was lacking on ricotta, but had a moderate level of garlic and mozzarella, so it wasn't disappointing. A lot of the restaurants on the island are closed at this time and businesses in general cannot get the help they desperately need. Keep that in mind when dining out. We'll be returning to try breakfast.Update:The breakfast was excellent. I ordered the Western Breakfast. Steak was tender and well-seasoned. Eggs and grits were perfect. Everything was super including the great service and smiles.

One of the worst cheesesteaks ever! The food just seems to have no love put into it. The chef has given up. Extremely pricey for subpar food.The establishment is very rundown and could use some remodeling. I glanced over at the breakfast buffet and wanted to hurl at the cleanliness level.Our server was excellent though. Super nice and accommodating.

Breakfast buffet is not worth it. Limited selection and shwaggy. Staff is pleasant and friendly which is the reason for the 2 star review....food not so much

We stopped in for an unexpected visit and was not disappointed for dinner. Only had burger and fries but was impressed.

This restaurant was great! I was a little skeptical because of the bad reviews but this restaurant is simple and yummy. Overall good experience the service is great.
