Mama Steve's House of Pancakes

This place has been here since the 1970's I don't think the interior has changed a bit. You could fit right in wearing a plaid polyester leisure suit with a turtle neck here. It is hard to screw up breakfast, but they do and they charge a lot for it. The servers are friendly though. Pancakes taste like cardboard, eggs are probably not dehydrated, but taste like they could be.

What a cute little Americana diner. Cozy, filled with regulars, coffee that doesn't stop flowing, and true American breakfast. These pancakes are so good, I'm not a pancake girl, but my partner is and he tore these up. Our eggs were perfectly cooked, and the ham was great. The OJ was a little too sweet for my taste, but that happens. For diner coffee, I was so shocked. It was actually good, I had 4 cups. I normally can only choke down one at most diners. Kat, our waitress, was who made the experience for us though. She was so pleasant and sweet. She was a ray of sunshine at 8:30 on a Saturday morning. She was speedy, attentive, personable, and kept our coffee topped off. I would've taken her to go if I could've! If you come, you have to get the true Virginia staple of Virginia ham and get their pancakes.

This place was awful!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!! The food tasted like it had been days previous especially the potatoes and warmed in the microwave and the sausage as well!! The waitress was great and I truly felt for her. We waited an 30-45 minutes for our microwaved food. The restaurant is cute- I'll give it that and hostess nice. Whomever the cook is, your quality of what you put out is poor. Plenty of parking at this location and I can see why!! Will never go there again. If I could give a 0 I would!!

Very traditional family style breakfast restaurant. The decor and furnishings are a little dated. The menu is pretty traditional and straight forward. The service was good and the food pretty good. Nothing extraordinary, but just good old fashioned breakfast food.

I would absolutely recommend this location to anyone in the Williamsburg area. Our waitress Kat was so sweet and nice and helpful, the food was soooo good . The eggs were amazing , the pancakes had almost a cornbread aftertaste which gave it an interesting taste and the ambience was very old school diner but perfect for the location.

Mama Steve's House of Pancakes was a place we were looking forward to on name alone. It sounds so comforting and unique. The inside was cute and homey though it did feel dated. The gift shop by the register was a choice. It's a popular spot that filled up a few minutes into our arrival. Don't worry, there is plenty of parking with a sign pointing to overflow.The pancakes were good, but the rest of the food was just alright. Coffee was meh to me, but if you like it, they sell their coffee in bags up at the little gift shop. The service was friendly, but messed up our order a few times. We have been to a lot of the pancake houses here in Williamsburg and Mama Steve's is our hands down favorite. Here's why:- Service: This place gets packed with a line out the door yet never have we had bad service. The servers are all incredibly attentive despite being nearly overrun. - Ambiance: It has a nostalgic feel that is a bit corny but it makes it perfect for both young and old. - Food: It ain't gourmet but it is good. The pancakes are not the best I ever had but they are good. They have a wide selection. They do a decent cream chip beef on toast. The coffee is good diner style coffee. They have Virginia ham. They have Surry sausage links (personal favorite with a little maple syrup). It's not brunch at the ritz but it is a great way to feed a family. Especially with kids or elderly parents along.

A bit dissatisfied with this place. Although the staff was welcoming and very polite, the food was not great at all! I order Virginia ham scrambled eggs, side of potatoes and 2 pancakes. My eggs were cooked on a dirty grill, discolored and had an aftertaste, the ham was super salty, didn't tasted rinsed off and it too had a bad aftertaste. The pancakes were good, and that's what I ate mostly. The potatoes were old tasting like they put them in water to preserve them prior to cooking g, they had no flavor at all. The coffee was hot and good, though!

Always a great experience and worth the wait! Cute atmosphere and food Is reliable and on point. I visit everytime when I make a day trip to Williamsburg.
