Mama Chan's Chinese Take-Out

Yock should come with at least one egg. But instead you have to purchase an egg for extra cost. The yock is very bland and I won't be returning.

Wowwww this is one of the last good ol 757 authentic dark rice flavorful Chinese places left!! I am glad I found this place and I will be coming here now on when I come to the area. The food taste just like back in the day with the dark gravy and dark rice! No other place outside of the 757 compares. The ladies were really nice to me. I highly recommend this place!

The food was burnt tasting and absolutely disgusting. Egg foo young was burnt with canned baby shrimp and a burnt. Gravy. The shrimp lo mein had the canned baby shrimp too. I will never order from there again.

I've been going to this place since I was a kid and they were located on Portsmouth Blvd. The food has always been good. You will not be disappointed.

There's no Chinese food anywhere like this. Single family owned since the early 90's. Prices are still reasonable. I recommend fried rice with sausage but I also love the yock. Egg foo young is good too. Try it all!

Today I went to Mama Chans, I called ahead but my order was not started until I paid for the order. I must say that I enjoy the food but this is the last time I will use this establishment. While I was there a customer who had his trousers so low that his underwear was in full view and he had a gun tucked into his pants. I did not feel safe as the customer was loud and appeared aggressive.

One of those hidden local gems. Everything I have had was delicious. The large egg rolls are as close to perfect I've seen in a long time, thin crispy roll that not doughy chewy in the least bit. The steak in any of the meals is tender as can be,far from the leathery strips at 95% of the other take outs. The portions are quite ample, a half order is easily enough for 2 and full pint size is enough for 4. No other place I know of can you get a full meal for 2 for less than $5 bucks!

A hidden jem a few miles away from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Naval Hospital Portsmouth. This mom and pop chinese take out restaurant is located in the ghettos but i assume that its a neighborhood to go place since there was a hug line when i came in. Although they only accept cash.... their prices are cheap for good quality asian food. They also have lunch specials from Monday to Friday for $5 ++which includes a drinkI ordered Their Egg Roll which is like filipino lumpia packed with delicious meat. And their egg drop soup and pancit was amazing. Lastly, the people who work there were pretty nice too. Definitely liking the mom and pop vibe of this place with cheap home cook meal despite not being in a nice neighborhood. Two thumbs up!

The top Chinese spot in Portsmouth no doubt. Make sure you bring cash not card accepted here.
