Mahi Mahis Island Grill

We stopped here for dinner when we arrived in Outer Banks on a recent vacation. It was a terrific start to the week.The restaurant is nice and clean inside with a calming blue aesthetic. And the serving staff was really kind to us. Hearing that we had just arrived on our trip, our waitress made a few recommendations of things to do.Our food was terrific as well. The French fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and had a nice light seasoning. They were the best fries we had on our trip. Additionally, my fish (I ordered fish and chips) was really delicious. Their menu was nice and wide, with something for everyone as well.I'd go back in a heart beat and it's an easy recommendation to anyone.

Unfortunately this visit warranted my first 1 Star review. This was our first night out to eat on vacation and we came across Mahi Mahi's on Yelp since the reviews were good and the pictures of the food looked appetizing. After my group of six was seated at our table our waitress brought out our drinks and she spilled a full cup of sweat tea on me. It's okay, accidents happen but the night kept getting worse. We ordered a few appetizers (crab dip, pretzel bites, hush puppies). Only the dip and pretzels came out and when we reminded them of the hush puppies, they came back with only TWO on a plate, just a pure disrespectful gesture. When our food came out only 4/6 entrees initially came out and our two friends sat and watched us eat. When their food finally came out everyone was basically done, and of course, their orders were completely wrong. Sides and entrees totally mixed up. We asked if they could comp any of our meal for the several inconveniences and the response was basically no. Customer service is not important at this restaurant unfortunately. Had such high hopes for this place but it was truly a bad experience.

Started with pretzel bites and crab dip. Both were very tasty and hopes were high at the start of our dinner. Our waitress spilled a drink on my boyfriend which was totally fine, it happens, but from there things just got worse. We ordered and two dinners in our party were completely wrong, and it took forever to correct it. Everyone had eaten and our one friend still did not get his food. Our other friend ordered hush puppies with her dinner and our waitress was reminded of it multiple times and still never came out with them until the end of our dinner. She put two small hush puppies (pic included) on our table and they were disgusting. It was insulting. I ordered the sunset margarita and it tasted like cough medicine, and the mahi mahi tacos were so bland. The fries and ranch were good. The restaurant was not very busy and we were there for 2 hours. Definitely will not be back.

Not the swankiest place on OBX but we found it uncrowded and with fast friendly service upon opening at 5pm. I had the Mahi mahi "Reuben" and my husband had a cheesesteak. Food was good, good sized, and reasonably priced. Great value! I would return and recommend.

This place is a sleeper y'all. We've driven by it multiple times and it seems like a ghost town, but they are legit. Their hours are from 4pm till 9pm so that's why they don't seem busy, but they've got a good star average and I'll be adding to that with this review. We arrived pretty late for dinner at 7:30. Had a brief 30 minute wait and right to our table. The place is clean, spacious, and decorated nicely. Service was friendly, offered suggestions, and kept up on refills and extra requests.The food was really good overall. My wife LOVED crab cake sandwich. My son enjoyed his cheese steak. I ordered the Mahi Mahi Fried fish and chips. I gave it a 3.5 out of 5. I also had a side order of fried shrimp and they were the highlight of the meal. We'll be back I'm sure. Check them out!

I really don't know other people had much better food than us at the reviews are so high, but I really thought this place lacked luster.Food quality was not good in any of the dishes that we got. I don't think the appetizer was warm plated and a little bit hard to eat, as well as the fish itself tasted not fresh, which is hard to believe being right by the water. The rotini noodle dish that I got was really bad. it was lacking flavor as well as the sauce. It was in was super soupy and did not cling to the food at all. The inconsistency of the vegetables in the dish were so off putting. Some were super hard and others overly soft.

Of all the restaurants we visited in the area, I was somewhat surprised that this spot didn't have a wait. It wasn't empty, but it certainly wasn't packed to the rafters.Our waiter was the bartender and he was fast and efficient hopping from table to table. And as it was margarita night he mixed up some delicious options, in particular the mango version that I had.We had several iterations of buffalo flavored appetizers that were all delicious (tuna bites, wings and shrimp) and also really enjoyed their iteration of fried green tomatoes.I had their mahi "Reuben" which was really unique, but needed more coleslaw and dressing to truly feel like a Reuben. Their fries were nice and crispy as well.For dessert, I highly recommend the bread pudding.

I ate here two years ago and really enjoyed the experience. It isn't as good as then. We had to wait a little while which isn't bad but trying to get a drink is an ordeal. You can't go to the bar and it's confusing in how to get a drink.They have a beautiful outside waiting area that underutilized. Many of those waiting wanted to play corn hole only to find no bags nor anyway to get them. Very nice seating but a wasted space.The menu is quite limited with little choices. I had salmon with risotto. The risotto was over cooked and bland. Others in our party were underwhelmed with their meal as well.It was a fall from our last time in.

Get the jackfruit tacos!!!!!! The best I've ever had. So good! Huge tacos! Staff was amazing, good ambience. Outdoor area looked really cool too with games and a yard area. Definitely the best place we had been to in that area.

The tacos were excellent- wish it was served 3 tacos not 2. Hush puppies were very basic and unexciting. Mahi mahi sandwich was delicious. Restaurant wasn't crowded but understaffed and we did wait a long time in-between appetizer and dinner. Cute restaurant with beachy decor. Would eat there again.
