Mack's Barge

My daughter and I have been twice. It's our new go-to spot for good food and drinks for me. The service was excellent. Everyone was very nice.

Mack's Barge is such a fun place to enjoy a wonderful meal. It's located on Colley Avenue in the Ghent area of Norfolk.They have a great view of the water, which is a tributary of the Lafayette River. We will definitely be coming back! There is a large porch right on the river which made for a lovely evening. The bar options were great and we loved all of the food we ordered. We got the cheese curds, a bbq sandwich, and fish and chips. Highly recommend, especially for an affordable and casual dinner or date night.

Came here during lunch with some co-workers that said this place was pretty good. I gotta say, I was a little disappointed. Upon entering, I legit thought the building was almost closed it was so dead. If it wasn't for the exuberant lady that helped us, this place would've been just flat out dead. The lady that helped us was super friendly and nice. I don't know if she was the owner but kudos to her for being able to be so lively in such a time. I appreciated her very much. The food - just ok. Nothing earth shattering here... it felt like straight cafeteria food. Would I come back? Maybe? I really enjoyed this place every time I went but I would say 3/5 for dinner. 4/5 for brunch!!! The pork eggs Benedict is my all time favorite. We had the oysters Rockefeller once with dinner and it just wasn't too great unfortunately. The Parmesan on top was a little weird tasting and just really dried out the whole oyster.Drinks are good!! Prices are decent. Wonderful place to eat by the water, so peaceful and beautiful. Servers are always friendly. You'll never have any rude staff!! They seem to really enjoy their jobs there. And Mac's is right by Cogans and Hanks if you want to go play pool or hang out afterwards.

The food was okay and the service was friendly but slow. The best thing about our time at Mack's was the lovely, peaceful atmosphere on the deck.

Parking. No issue. Overall appearance, riverside bar with food. Very appeasing / pleasant. In for a dinner and few beverages. Ok.... So the only problem I had with the visit was, dare I say it, a very inept server. Poor explanations, failed to offer the specials, took way too long to serve beverages and ultimately the food. (I spoke with the kitchen, no crowd, so no delay). Enjoyed a few trays of oysters. Very nice. Finished with a classic BLT, my son had a wrap. Beverages served ice cold (lovely). Food served temp appropriate. By all means, try and enjoy this place, but be ware of a slow server.

I ordered the Country Fried Chicken Bennie, Yuck!! Cook doesn't know the difference between a poached egg and hard boiled egg! A Bennie is supposed to have poached eggs with runny yokes, NOT hard boiled eggs!!

We love this place! The food is delicious, the portions provide great value and the location and staff are amazing! Highly recommended. This is where we take friends from outta town.

Had Mother's Day Brunch at Mack's. Loved outside patio & $3.00 mimosas. Food & service were disappointing. Contrary to menu, spinach / tomato omelet did not come with goat cheese & a biscuit as written on menu. Their substitution was an overload of cheddar and thin white buttered toast. Server said they were out of biscuits and didn't have goat or feta. ( They had been open for less than an hour). When my companion asked server to wipe down sticky table she gave him a wet washcloth to do it himself. Server not helpful or friendly at all.
