This is one place your children will never let you stroll by. M. Dubois Grocer on DOG Street is where you get your sweet tooth filled and typically during our stay it's more than once. Best known for their icy lemonades and ice cream. But they do have a menu of other snack items too! My favorite are the ginger cakes. I think they are made in-house on at CW, possibly Raleigh Tavern Bakery. They also sell bottle water and fountain drinks. Souvenir mugs can be purchased for refill during a season. As I typically will say in any CW property it's the staff and interpreters that make difference. The staff time after time are so friendly, especially to the children who are excited to look over the sweet treats. Of course my family will be back.

We were here for the 4th of July week and it was hot and crowded so of course we had to stop and get some ice cream. We went in and they only had chocolate and strawberry left for they day. No worries they kids were up for almost anything. We ordered our ice cream and then sat outside to eat it. It was very good. The workers were super busy and had been all day so they didn't seem overly friendly, but that is to be expected towards the end of the day. Great place to stop in.

On a hot day on Colonial Williamsburg this place is a great stop for some cold ice cream or slushies. My wife and I enjoyed the slushies and thought they were tasty and refreshing. The day we were there they had Root Beer and Lemonade and both were very good.

Visiting Colonial Williamsburg in the summer? Write down this address because you're going to want a sweet icy treat. This is THE place to get frozen lemonade or frozen root beer slushie and soft-serve ice cream. Tip - you can fill your "all you can drink" glass with ice cream at no extra cost.

The best thing about this shop? It sells ice cream smack dab mid-way to the capitol (coming from Market Square), on Gloucester street. The kids were hot, tired and cranky from the visit when I spotted M Dubois' sign. Never mind that there were only two flavors of ice cream (chocolate and something else) - the kids only ever want chocolate anyways. Add a shady bench outdoors and I was in heaven, resting my tired feet and enjoying the ice cream, which, by the way, was very good.
