Lynnhaven Dive Center & LDC Swim School

Took a scuba certification here; the instructors were super helpful and knowledgable, I felt super safe and supported, and their new facilities are beautiful!!

I had the privilege of spending the last three days at the Lynnhaven Dive Center embarking upon a new love and passion as a certified open water SCUBA diver. My instructor was Chris Strollo. What a knowledgeable, professional, dynamic, fun, personable instructor. I instantly felt like I was in a training environment in which I was not just a customer but truly joining a family. Thank you so much, Chris.Additionally, the staff in the full service dive shop, who are most certainly also divers and/or instructors, were equally amazing. It was obvious that they weren't merely focused on selling or upselling gear. Thank you Mason and Chris for helping me select the right equipment for me.Finally, let me talk to my fellow retired folks who may have wanted to learn SCUBA, but now feel like that ship has sailed. Get off the couch, head over to the Lynnhaven Dive Center, and take that first step. You can do it, and you won't regret it.

I've wanted to learn to dive for a very long time. Thank My journey started at Lynnhaven Dive Center / LDC for my initial training. Joe Speckhart you've been an amazing instructor and diving mentor. From there it was on to Lake Phoenix for certification and fundamentals. I just got back from Grenada where I was able to put my new skills to work. It was absolutely an amazing trip and I am in awe of this brand new world I have access to.

Looking for a great local dive shop this would be it. As a matter of fact it's one of only few in Hampton Roads. It's a full service shop from certification to equipment to swim lessons. Look for the Tiki themed business just off the corner of Mill Dam Rd. LDC remained open during the Virginia Stay at Home orders because they were deemed essential by the City of Virginia Beach which has a contract with Virginia Beach Lifesaving who guards the beach. Service by Luke and staff was phenomenal. They took all safety measures with cleanliness and also wearing mask. My experience was my son utilizing their indoor pool to keep active with training during lockdown orders. The tub is mainly used for swim lessons and scuba training. The roof structure seems a bit sketch with fiberglass and plastic over arched rods like a green house. However, there was no issue and during storms and high winds it's not operated. Pool time is $20 an hour, ask for any specials. They have a four lane 20 yard pool that worked, but not ideal with it being short 5 yards from regulation since my son is a competitive swimmer. Staff placed lane lines in during workouts. Staff kept the pool clean and most import during the off season it's heated. There is a changing area. Staff have told me that they think lessons will resume this Summer. I encourage any parent looking at programs to consider swim as essential. The 4-5 year old range in my opinion is a great age. The city has many options with recreation centers. However, LDC small groups is an advantage.

Liam and Chris in the shop were very helpful.Each assisted with a custom tailored purchase and were very knowledgeable.Two week catalog lead time (or longer) with Henderson or other manufacturer - noted.Parking was plentiful and convenient.Would recommend this establishment to a friend.

This is my first time walking into a Dive Center as I went with a friend who was looking to get Scuba Certified.We worked with Hailey to get the necessary gear required for the lessons and she was such a joy. This being the first time my friend had ever done this, he had so many questions and was super indecisive. We probably spent at minimum two hours just trying out all the different gear evaluating comfort and look.Hailey was super patient with us and seemed to be excited to be working with us. Occasionally another employee would walk by and give a bit of input and just introduce themselves. The environment was just so welcoming and already felt like a family community. I really enjoyed learning about the scuba gear and touring the store/facility. We are very happy that we chose this place to get scuba certified because not only does it have a huge variety of things but the employees are all so wonderful. What a great local shop!

An iPhone 10 is well over $1000. I dropped it while fishing in the Broad Bay of Virginia Beach. Blake from Lynnhaven Dive Center said "No problem!" We loaded up on my fishing jet ski and zoomed out to the area. I learned about diving, classes offered, spear fishing....AAAAAND FOUND MY CELLPHONE! The people at Lynnhaven Dive Center have always been really helpful. In the end, they have created another family hooked on diving.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!Lynnhaven dive center is a fine place for swim lessons. Nothing special but same could be had somewhere else.But when it comes to canceling they intentionally make it impossible. You cannot cancel online. They tell you to send an email to do it in writing. They don't respond to the email. I went in person and they said they can't cancel in person. They told me to call a phone number. Surprise it's automated and all you can do is leave a message and guess what all cancellations have to be done in writing to an email that they don't even respond to.Save your time and frustrations and go somewhere else.

Do not provide your credit card information. I am referring to the facility at 2204 Poplar Point Road in Virginia Beach, VA 23454. They unlawful debited charges and refused to return the money. They even indicated that they would, but did not after numerous conversations. Now the person who I spoke with is suddenly unavailable and does not return phone calls. Stay away from this business - if you care about your money. Plus they overcharge for summer lessons $120 a month for 30 minutes a week!

Knowledgeable! I got my open water diver certification here. Couldn't be happier. Also got my nitrox certification here.
