This review is for the "Beach Facility" portion of this spot. If you have a boat, I'm sure this is a great place to launch your boat, but IF you have young kids and you want a hassle free beach experience, come to this spot! These are top 5 reasons why I love coming here:1. Parking It only costs $3 for the whole day (until midnight, I believe). No need to keep plugging the meter. There's a parking machine located right by the entrance of the walkway to the beach. Can't remember if you need to place it on the dash, but why not? Just in case...2. Public washrooms and showersThere are washrooms with changing rooms, showers underneath the roof (on the other side of the washrooms) outside, equipped with the short shower heads to rinse your feet. ESSENTIAL with young kids.3. Public beach access with tide poolThe beach is the end of Chick's beach, right under Lesner Bridge. The bridge itself provides great shade on a portion of the beach, although a lot of people like to fish there too, so we usually end up moving a little further down. Also, depending on the time of day you go, there is a tidepool and the water is not as rough so it's relatively safe for the kiddos. Of course, still watch your kids. 4. TrafficMeaning, it's not crowded there at all! Only a handful of people the last couple of times we've been there.5. American BrewThe best part is coffee and bites is right next door! It's a short walk from the parking lot, but if you forget to pack a lunch, American Brew is located right at the corner of the street (you'll most likely see it before you turn in to the parking lot). They have great coffees, bowls and other bites.Summer is here so enjoy the sunshine and soak up every bit of that Vitamin Sea! Stay safe, Friends!

Lesner beach. Never crowded and the water is not rough. Great for family's with small children. The beach is clean and the views of the bay and the arriving and departing ships is really great. This is great beach for visitors and residents alike. Parking is $3 all day and boardwalk under the bridge is very convenient. Love this beach.

The Lynnhaven Boat Ramp is an awesome asset to the City of Virginia Beach. I have been here several times now and you really see what Virginia Beach tax dollars pay for. So if your lucky enough to own a boat, or have a friend that owns a boat what are you waiting for.The boat ramp features four concrete boat launch lanes with associated temporary mooring areas, a canoe/kayak launch area, car with boat trailer parking spaces, lighting, restrooms with shower and foot rinse areas, changing areas, car parking for beach access, an information kiosk, a public use AED, vending machine and ice sales, and a walkway (under the Lesner Bridge) to the Ocean Park Beach Area on the Chesapeake Bay.The boat launch fees are reasonable. $16 without saltwater fishing license$8 with saltwater fishing license. There is also an annual launch pass for $125. Parking fees are $5 per day non-resident and $3 per day resident. The hours of operation are 24/7.There is also five picnic tables, three on the deck and two in the shade under trees. I can't think of a better way to spend some time with family before a launch then grabbing some Taste Unlimited just down the road one mile and gathering around a table before heading out to a sunset.I had an opportunity to talk with superintendent Jim Langdon recently. He said the new Lesner Bridge construction will begin this Winter which will affect over half of the parking for three years. The result for this area of Virginia Beach however will be quite significant with the new arch style Lesner Bridge. The view is spectacular on the Chesapeake Bay from a boat and a wonderful view of Pleasure House Natural Area that is beside the launch area. So if you don't have a boat, find someone that does and launch out of the Lynnhaven, you will love it.

A review of the Lynnhaven Boat Ramp and Beach Facilities by Steven L Herring My father and I love to kayak fish. We tow our boats on a trailer, so using a boat ramp is often a selling point for us since many facilities that cater to kayakers don't have parking areas for people with trailers. My father is in his 70's, so carrying kayaks from a parking lot to the water for long distances isn't a really good option for us even with a trolly dolly due to age and health concerns. From the moment we arrived at the lynnhaven boat ramp, it was a struggle. We paid the $10 ramp fee just like everyone else, but staff members were seen shaking their heads as we offloaded our boats and gear as quickly as we could. Other boaters were impatient. One actually started to back down the ramp while we were attaching our gear just before we left, as if we were supposed to move out of his way. Upon returning to the ramp after fishing for a few hours, there was a lot of traffic. We were able to load all of our gear in about 10 minutes, which was pretty fast but it didn't stop one boater from harassing my father for not moving fast enough. The man was completely unreasonable and had no respect for my father or myself. He berated us for not using some sort of boater etiquette that was apparently more important to him than common courtesy, respect for the elderly, or just simple patience. Where was the staff when things got heated? No where to be found. I personally will never recommend the lynnhaven boat ramp to anyone I know, and will certainly never pay another penny to use the facility again. Way to drop the ball, guys!

Virginia beach boat ramp at lynnhaven inlet is an ideal place to launch your boat. Once leaving one of the 4 ramps and head out of the inlet you have so many options as to where to go fishing or just cruising with the family. If you launch here throughout the year on many occasions you would be better off buying a yearly launch pass. It pays for its self. The staff here is friendly. Polite, and very helpful

There is no longer beach access due to the construction on the new bridge. Stop asking the nice people who work there about the beach access because it is closed. Also don't attempt to go through the construction gates because the staff will deter you, so don't waste your time unless you enjoy being written a ticket for trespassing by the police. Otherwise a great facility and helpful staff.
