4/2022 with the lack of presence of any pods or lotus leaves or lily pads. It doesn't look like people have honored the sign.

I actually enjoyed my visit to Lotus Garden Park, as when we went, the pond was completely full of lotuses in bloom - it was such a sight! You'll have to keep your eyes peeled to not miss this park, as there's a small drive-off into a small parking area where you can park your vehicle; you also have to walk in this mini makeshift 'path' to get in front of the pond to take pictures. There isn't much space if another group/party is ahead of you, so it's kind of a one-group-at-a-time type of a deal.I was able to snap a few pics, so I was a happy camper! To the left of the pond, there is an area with picnic tables and such, so you can have a little get-together there.A little gem to check out if you're in the area!+lotuses in bloom!+small drive-off to park vehicle+picnic area available

I've always enjoyed stopping here just off Sandbridge road to look at the lotus flowers when they bloom. Honestly, this is a blink and you miss it kinda natural park because it's so small with just about 6 parking spaces in a gravel lot and a small shaded picnic area. It's cute. It's small. And it's very simple. A lot of locals use the lot for fishing on the other side of the bridge so it can get tight and Sandbridge road is notoriously busy and dangerous during peak summer months. But, all things considered, for what this is, a small roadside tribute to a now passed local who loved lotuses and saw to it they would bloom here for others to enjoy, its cute and charming.

2.5 rounded up to 3I was excited to check out a "new park" to me. It's quite a travel from the other side of VA Beach. Make sure not to speed, as you can easily pass this park. You see a wide open gravel pull over to the right. That's the parking lot. Maybe 6-8 spots for cars at the most. The water view is lovely, but I was disappointed to not see any lily pads or lotuses. I had to google search when lotuses bloom. Turns out mid June? But, also I didn't see many pods either. The few I saw were dead/dried pods floating in the pollen laden water. I was hoping to walk around to get some exercise. I walked towards the Lotus gardens park sign and turned to see an open empty sporadic grass spaced area. Nothing exciting to see and not really a great place to go for a stroll, unless you're okay walking in a rectangular fashion along the perimeter numerous times. I found the sign laid on the ground stating not to cut any flowers or remove any pods from the area. I'm just speculating, but by the lack of pods I had seen, I don't think people are adhering to it. Unless the decline can be attributed to weather or animals taking off with them? There is a picnic area with a few picnic tables and trash cans. No restrooms. There's really not much here. If you live down the street, or a five or ten minute drive- go for it! But if you live any further than it, I wouldn't make the trip out. It's not all that peaceful because of the busy road. You can hear cars pass by. Also I don't know that I would bring little kids or toddlers as it's so close to a busy road for safety reasons. I appreciate the local who dedicated the park to the care of lotuses. But unfortunately, I came at the wrong time. I'm also curious once mid June hits if there will even be any pods to produce any blooms.

As much as I really like the area, this really is a sad park that has been neglected. It once was maintained, but has been ignored for decades. I still enjoy pulling over for water views and photography with the beautiful lily pads in the nearby water. Fishing is also a plus. The park has a dedication to Crezia Covington Reed dated July 24th 1975 for her preservation work with the Lotus Native American Lotus. Thus it's name. The mid 70's may have been the last time anything significant has been done to the park. Parking is almost non existent. A few places to pull off the road. Debris is present, but never has been too bad. Often it's those that fish leave trash behind. A can is in the park area and not conveniently located off the water. So what's here, um not much. A few picnic tables that are rotted away. Playground equipment that rusted and in ruins. Since the area commonly floods it's muddy and disgusting during wet periods. Fishing is a plus off the banks. What's missing. No restrooms, no water fountains and no shelter. The city needs to clean it up, or take it offline. Unless you enjoy fishing I would move on down the road a bit to Sandbridge Little Island Park.
