The food was everything I hoped for and more. I was told by a couple of coworkers about this place and had the time to try. They are so friendly and welcoming when you enter. And it feels cozy when you come in and grab your food. Definitely going back soon.

Happened upon locating this restaurant as a restaurant that I initially wanted to try is no longer in existence and that was not apparent until driving past where the restaurant should have been. This place is authentic and it caught my eye that they serve jollof rice. The woman with whom we placed our order was very nice and shared all the information regarding dishes and what is included with each. I ordered the chicken and goat with the jollof rice. She suggested mild spice. This came with fufu. I had never tried fufu before, but it was good, in my opinion. I also ordered pepper soup with fish and butter shrimp. The shrimp were smaller than I expected, but they were delicious. All was good. Please note that the food is cooked fresh to order, so a 20-minute wait was fine with me to know that it was made fresh. It is worth the wait.

I came back to try the pepper soup, meat pie and jollof rice. The soup was very peppery but not overwhelming and I love that , the chicken was very tender and good portion. The fufu was soft and big portion. The meat pie was big but mostly bread, it was baked which I liked. The jollof rice was fluffy and soft but you could tell the pot the rice was cooked in hot scorched.

I finally had a chance to cross bridges and tunnels to check out Lormnava, and it was worth it. Ok, so I had to cross only one tunnel, but you get the point. ;)Important note: The restaurant is VERY small. While there are two small tables with 1-2 chairs, the restaurant is more suited for carry-out and delivery through Doordash. When I visited on a slow (and rainy) Friday afternoon, a worker said that I could dine inside the restaurant. If you visit and have to option of eating there, just know that your food will arrive in to-do packaging. For my dining pleasure, I went with the chicken stew with fufu, which was about 19 bucks in total. I had to LOL for a second because one of the employees asked if I needed a spoon for my meal to which I responded (in a joking manner) I think I'll be fine without a spoon. I guess he didn't realize until I started eating the fufu that I'm half Ghanaian and grew up on the dish.Overall, I thought my lunch was very delicious and (very importantly, fresh). Normally, I tend not to eat fufu at West African restaurants because it can be somewhat dry, old, and heavy. However, that was not the case at Lormnava because my fufu was very moist and fluffy. The chicken stew had just the right amount of seasoning and flavoring for my enjoyment. I actually asked them to make my stew a bit spicy since I like my food with a little heat. Also, the stew came with three large pieces of chicken (a leg and two thighs) that was 'oh so falling off the bone' delicious. While I was eating, one of the employees came from the kitchen to ask if everything was ok and if the stew was spicy enough. Actually, I think she came out a couple of times to make sure things were all good with my food. Since most of the food is made to order, you might expect a bit of a wait if you do not call in your order. Hopefully, this location will be successful so they can open another one somewhere in Norfolk, Va Beach, and/or Chesapeake. While my lunch was delicious, I do not see myself making a 40-min (one-way) to the restaurant . . . especially if it is a takeaway restaurant. I'd imagine that eating fufu and stew in the car would lead to a very messy experience.

The staff here are very polite and quick to assist you. The food is cooked to order so it takes a little while i ordered the spinach stew with fish but we realized they had given us chicken once we got home We should have checked before leaving but it was still delicious the fufu has a great texture and the flavors in this were on point I tried the pepper chicken soup before And did not like how bland it was however this was the opposite very flavorful and hearty. The meat pie was also delicious it was cooked to perfection and very filling we also had pineapple ginger juice of course The location itself is not really a sit down restaurant it is similar to how a Chinese carry out is set up. You enjoy your food at home Overall I do recommend this spot but definitely checked your order before leaving

I LOVED the food. I had Waakya with goat meat (spicy) and not spicy with my hubby. We had trouble getting here using Google Maps because it led us down the street to the wrong shopping area. The correct shopping area is the Village Shopping Area near the old Food Lion store (now closed). It is a cute, well-decorated, comfortable diner. There are tables and chairs for eat in dining. The door dash and curbside pickup are available, too.The service is excellent, and the owner is a very gracious host.Customers came in for orders frequently as I waited for my order to be prepared.

Thanks to the 7.57 deal for Yelp, new businesses in Hampton Roads are offering Yelpers a chance to order select meals for a pretty good price. And behold, two spots in Newport News are participating. So why not give one of them a go?This little spot which is next door to Captain D's and other small shops is pretty small. Only two tables occupy the building but it's mainly a to-go spot which works out even better. My choice was the pepper chicken stew and white rice dish along with a canned drink (Canada Dry) with a level 3 spice. Imagine if you were inside from the cold air and needed something to warm you right up. Well, this here would be it. Man oh man.......it was pretty damn good. The chicken is boned, but falls off the bone like butter and the spice was just about right. This dish reminded me of chicken gumbo that I order from de Rican Chef, but of course this is an African dish, not Puerto Rican. Very hearty and flavorful. Thanks to our CM Yoonie, we happened to come upon a new business in the Hampton Roads area. This would definitely be a good spot to take Sophia to pretty soon. And when you have the host come by the help you out and see little kids behind the counter, you know you're in a family-type environment. As Arnold one said: I'll Be Back!!

Spinach stew with goat was fire. fufu was super soft, probably some of the softest I've had. The meat pie was ok would like more meat to the amount of dough, and was slightly dry. The pineapple ginger juice was great and refreshing.Definitely going back to try their palm nut soup and pepper soup okra soup and jolloff

I was finally talked into trying Fufu, and I should have tried it long ago. It could be simply this establishments recipe for preparing Pepper Soup, or that it is the best overall, but Fufu and their Pepper Soup blew me away. You select the level of heat when ordering and be cautious going above a medium. You simply pinch off a piece of Fufu, dip it in the Pepper Soup broth and pop it in your mouth and you will be hooked like I was. The next level is to do the Fufu pinch, dip into the broth, and come out with a hunk of perfectly cooked Chicken. I have tried other menu items and each has been delicious, but my fave is the Pepper Soup. I highly recommend you try it.

Mid. The service was great the place looks very clean upon walking in.... but the Palm Nut Soup was disappointing. At $28 for the combo of 2 meats, the soup left things to be desired. It was very watery. The fufu had a smell before we opened it. The beef that accompanied the jollof was very tough and tasted like it had been cooked last week and in a bland tomato sauce. Overall the food was edible but not like the Ghanaian food I've had before. Overpriced for the food portions.
