Safe to say, this may be the location of my new favorite stout! Met some friends on a Friday night, after not having been here in probably 5 years. They've definitely expanded in that time, and had live music until 9. I tried their lager, their nuclear IPA, the Berliner weisse and two of their stouts - our table ended up swapping so it was nice to get a good sense of their flavor profiles. They have five 11.3% beers on the menu- I feel like those could sneak up on ya quick! The setting is beautiful and I'm excited to see how they continue to grow.

Lickinghole provided us a pretty good, memorable beer experience. We had their rich, German Chocolate Cake lager. Everything you expect to see in the dessert shows up in this very beer! I like the beer versions of desserts but definitely need to be in the mood for it. For this beer the features I liked best was the chocolate (of course), hazelnut and vanilla flavor highlights. The German Chocolate Cake also comes in a bourbon version which I'm sure is great too!

Love this strong brew, brewery. It took awhile for us to finally make it out but we throughly enjoyed our time. Set on a picturesque rolling hills, there were plenty of seats and activities to keep the whole family interested. (Including our dog) The beer is high alcohol goodness. If you are a lighter drinker, there were a couple options. Now for some tips; their food trucks are spotty and cancel often. With high alcohol and no food.... We had to get it to go. What I observed, there was live music and people brought pizzas and hamburgers and really enjoyed themselves. Next time I will bring a picnic and plan on spending more time. The small town of Goochland did have a couple fast food options. Looking forward to visiting again.

We've been twice now. Both during covid, both on cold winter days. There's only outdoor seating, and I'm guessing it hasn't always been like this. You order beer from the counter at one end of the brewery building. There are plenty of tables and the food truck that was there both times we went (Cary st snacks, or something like that) sells some tasty tots. The people working there seem friendly, and the beer is tasty. Most of their beer is high ABV, so watch out for that. I wish they had a few more that were in the range where I felt like I could have more than one and not be drunk haha. I loved their German chocolate cake lager, and their carrot cake imperial amber ale was also good. I didn't love their maidens blonde which is a shame because it's one of the few lower ABV on offer right now. Their twelfth night quadrupel is really tasty! We got it in a four pack to go. Basically, this farm brewery is pretty cool because of the fact that they grow a bunch of the ingredients they use in their beers, and we enjoy several of the beers we've tried, and we will continue to visit. I'd like to see a few more options with lower ABV and once this pandemic has calmed down I'll be interested to see how they use indoor space etc. You should check it out!

Lickinghole Creek is an awesome Farmhouse brewery in Goochland. It's really in the middle of nowhere and right at the end it seems like your just going down a long dirt road...but keep going, it's back there! The brewery is on a huge plot of land and has so much open space for sitting at tables, on the ground, and playing on playsets. They have a good selection on draft and even more for sell in cans and bottles. They have goses, lactose IPAs, IPAs, stouts and more! Also, they usually have one or two of each going at a time. We had the watermelon Gose, the source blueberry lactose IPA, the one lion stout base and one lion stout with coconut and vanilla. The Gose was nice and refreshing and not too tart. The IPA was very good and still had a hit of hops...not a mild lactose IPA. The one lion stouts we're each very good...very dark with hits of cocoa and coffee. If you've had OtherHalf's stouts, one lion tastes very similar...however, not quite the 12-14 ABV of OH at 7 ABV. Lickinghole Creek's location and beer selection was incredible here and we will definitely be making another trip out!

Came here with my girlfriend and her friends last weekend. This place wasn't too crowded and also not as large as I imagined it to be. There were only 2-3 patches of sunflowers that we saw.The two big draws of this place is 1. the sunflower picking 2. the brewery. To be honest, the brewery had mediocre beer so the main attraction is the sunflowers. However the staff was very friendly and offered to let you sample all their beers before you take a purchase. Oh there is also food trucks there with snacks to munch on if you want. In the hot summer sun, nothing better than a cold beer, fries and a corn dog. Great for kids and dates. Take a picture with the sunflowers in the background!

After a successful outing with the kids to Steambell Brewery the week before we decided to check out Lickinghole Brewery the following week which we have never been to before. It was actually super chilly and windy the day that we decided to go. So we called them up to get an idea of the situation since we have never been there before. They indicated that they had a tent out up which normally isn't up so there would be more "inside" space than normal. My husband and I decided why not, so we bundled my 2.5 year old daughter up and our 5 week old son up and made out trek to Lickinghole 40 min or so away from Midlothian. Apparently, it was the day after their big release day so they had a good amount of beers to try. We were surprised to find out that there is barely any actual indoor space... they did have the large tent up but it is just a tent no space heaters or anything... fortunately the tent did a good job of blocking the wind and seemed to keep some warmth in it with the group of people in it. The best thing is that the brewery is on a farm... so tons of open space. There is even a playground for the kiddies a large connect four game while probably for adults our daughter enjoyed it. There were also two food trucks there on the day we were there. This Brewery would be awesome when it's warmer out and it would be comfortable to be outside. You have to buy tickets for the beer tastings which makes sense so that the beer servers don't have to deal with cash. Kind of feel like more places should adopt this practice, it definitely makes getting beer quicker...Of the choices available for the day We missed out trying Hug the Despot (vanilla stout) and BB Blueberry Obsession (bourbon barrel Blueberry stout). I ended up liking the Bourbon Barrel Coconut Stout the best of what was available. It had a good hint of coconut flavor and the bourbon barrel added some great flavor. All in all we all had a good time at Lickinghole and can't wait to go back!

I have tasted some of the Lickinghole Creek's brew in two restaurants in the DC area. It was excellent when I tried it in DC, and for some time have wanted to drive down and see the brewery. The place is great - incredible atmophere. I tried two IPAs and both were exceptional. I started with the Nuclear Nugget Imperial Honey - it is filled with hops that are smoothed out and balanced by honey. The honey, like everything else, is made on the Lickinghole Creek Farm. This is one hell of a great brew - high on the alcohol content, but one is absolutely something you should try if you are an IPA person. From there I went to the 9 mile IPA. It is much less hoppy, yet a very nice brew. I must also note the friendly atmosphere against the backdrop of rural Virginia and a beautiful farmhouse surrounded by fields and sky that go on and on. And, yes, very very dog friendly!I highly recommend the Lickinghole Creek Brewery and without hesitation can say that it was more than worth the nice drive from DC through the back roads of Virginia.
