The environment was a bit older than I expected but cute for the price of the food. Some of the food was frozen or canned you can taste the high blood pressure but it was great! Especially if you want something simple/basic/tasteful all in one. The waitress was awesome very nice.

An ol time feel i get that but a bit too shabby. Needs to be a bit more cleaner and the food was barely hot and having to look or ask for condiments and or extra napkins, etc. The service was definitely poor. IHOP makes a better spot for this lack of experience and taste.

Have had breakfast there several times. The food was good and plentiful. The staff was pleasant and the service was quick!

Downing Hampton has a hole in the wall, found in a strip mall. But don't let that deceive you! This place has a really dynamic breakfast going for it. My companion had his regular eggs, a pancake or French toast but this time he had a pancake, grits, and bacon or sausage. Me, I have to try Virginia ham wherever I go because, well, I'm visiting Virginia. Got a try ham everywhere I mean for heaven sake I'm in the Smithfield backyard!Hands-down this restaurant had the best grits in Virginia that I tried and I tried grits everywhere I went for breakfast over the past two weeks. Let me qualify that and say this restaurant had the best grits in a privately owned restaurant as opposed to a hotel; there was one other place competing for my top notch grits cookery but it was a hotel chain. I did stop the waitress and ask her what the secret was or how they did it, and she said that she didn't know, it was the cook who did it and it was surprising because everybody comments how great the grits are, and he doesn't even really eat them. Whatever he's doing, he's doing it fantastically!The biscuit was light and fluffy they brought me honey And butter, the eggs were perfect, and I had Virginia ham. Need I say more? It was just a good awesome delicious feeling breakfast. No wonder I gained 6 pounds in two weeks. Thank you Virginia!

Great little gem in Buckroe. Food has great flavor and portions are generous. Definitely recommend if you love the home cooked vibe. Great atmosphere and service. Definitely will order from here again.

When traveling, am always looking for a good local place for breakfast. Well......this place had good Yelp reviews so I decided to try it. Sign on the door indicated only cash was accepted. In spite of the Yelp listing that indicated it accepted credit cards. In this day and age, any place that does not accept credit cards will not get my business. If they're that concerned about the credit card fees, simply raise the prices!

Been going here for years. It's a nice little spot to grab a hearty breakfast or lunch with reasonable prices. Food is always great & pretty fast service.

This place is amazing!! Very busy so was lucky to get a table right away. Service was amazing and very fast. The food is AWESOME. Some of the best grits I've ever had. Eggs were delicious, French toast was awesome. Everything was so good. Bacon. Sausage. Biscuits and gravy. Mamaaaa miiiaaaaaaaa. 10/10 will be back.
