It had been my quest to locate a Filipino bakery that made the Ube Spanish Bread that I love. After visiting every Filipino Bakery that I could locate in the area my last option was Laguna. It took quite some time to be able to visit this bakery. Early in my search I called on a Saturday asking if they had Ube Spanish Bread. The answer was "Yes" but they were sold out & not making anymore because of their upcoming closure for a month. After their return my first visit was delayed for months because they are only open Friday, Saturday & Sunday. With great excitement my first & only visit found a well stocked bakery filled with goodies. But no Ube Spanish Bread.....Approaching the very unpleasant looking lady seated in a booth I inquired about the product. In a voice as unpleasant as she looked she took me to a display & indicated brusquely to a product. It did read Spanish Ube Bread but was not the purple bread I had come to love.I made the mistake of asking if they had the purple. I then received a lecture indicating that other stores that sold the bread just dyed them to make them purple. I didn't ask any more questions. Eager to leave I picked up one of her Spanish breads, a few other items and headed to her enclosed booth to pay. I didn't even take advantage of the Yelp Check In offer since she appeared irritated that someone had approached her booth to pay.Laguna's products were good, just not what I so eagerly anticipated. The business was clean & well stocked. But her enclosed booth left one with the feeling that the store wasn't a safe place. It probably is safe. The location is in Kempsriver Shopping Center, a large winding collection of stores & eateries located on the NW corner of the intersection of Kempsville and Indian River Roads.I probably won't return. There are other bakeries & shops with delightful Ube products and pleasant employees.

the food is flavorful, affordable, and authentic. The food is already prepared, so when you walk in, you can choose which items you want. They had a lot of options other local restaurants didnt. They also had a lot of goodies and desserts. Don't expect a sit down area because they're just to go but the place was set up cute. The service was amazing and the ladies working were very helpful. I noticed they had a lot of regulars they were coming in and the ladies seem to know them.Go check them out in the Kempsville area!** YELP UPDATED REVIEW AS OF 09/15/2024 **I spoke with the owner and they do not accept any Yelp Coupons. I just wanted to give everyone a head's up if you have yelp coupons for this business.

The food is reasonably priced and they give you good portions - that's 5 out of 5. I read the reviews maybe it was my lucky day that I didn't experience rudeness or poor service - that's 3 out of 5.I ordered pancit (which is only 50 cents more compared to if you got white rice) with 2 entrees: pork sisig and kare kare. The food was good: 4 out of 5.The variety of baked and prepared food was good: they have siopao (steamed buns), pan de sal plain or with butter and sugar), kutsinta, cassava cake... slightly disappointing is their mung bean hopia - looked fresh but the mung bean filling was dry.

This is a take out place, no tables.I tried the lechon and the first three pieces were great, crispy and flavorful. However, the fourth piece was rotten, tasted old and just bad. Same with the pancit. It was rancid. So depressing. Are they serving leftovers and if yes, how old is the food? The rice also tasted old.

This review is only for their pandesal, ensymada, ube hopia, and ube bread. The pandesal was suppose to be fresh out of the oven, but my taste buds has a good suspicion that it was reheated pandesal. The outside was a hard but after 5 minutes it turned chewy like any reheated bread. The ube hopia was good but the ube bread was not. The ube bread has the ube color but it's not ube, I think it's potato with purple food coloring. I checked out their food on display but it wasn't appetizing. The service was ok and they seem friendly. There are plenty of better options for bake goods in VA Beach. Laguna was just ok for me.

Portion size was definitely great for the chicken adobo, and the pork stew slapped... Baked goods were soft and delicious.

If I can give a negative 5 stars, I would give it to this place. Owner was extremely rude to us. Never have seen an owner of a business to be so rude to their customers. As far as food and baked goods, it was ok but bland. Not worth it. We've only tried it because it was so close to where we live. Never going back and not recommending this place. Gross.
