La Tiendita Mexican Restaurant

Came in this afternoon after seeing a glowing review from someone on Facebook. I was shocked to see that the entire parking lot was empty. When we came inside there was no one sitting at any of the tables. We were sat right away and the host/server was super nice. Both of us at our table ended up ordering the ACP with no veg and it was honestly amazing. So flavorful and delicious. It was a lunch portion and I was worried I wouldn't get full but by the time I was done I was very satisfied. Great experience and I expect to be back soon.

The food is good, definitely one of our main choices for our Latino comida cravings. We've tried many different things from their grande Burritos, Texas nachos which is one of my favorites, Carnitas plate and many more. The portions are good sizes and the price is decent. Highly recommended! I do have to say though we've only ever ordered food for delivery so I have no idea of the inside service or staff!

Saturday afternoon around 3 o'clock restaurant had one other table on the dining side the bar side had a couple dozen people.Ordered half a dozen raw oysters and half a dozen steamed oysters. The oysters were clean and sweet. The wife and I enjoyed them.The nachos were standard could've used more seasoning and the Molcajete was a nice presentation of a Texas fajita. First time here, would probably come back for the oysters as for the Mexican dishes there are a lot of choices in Elizabeth City.Cheers!

Hubby was famished and jonesing for some Mexican. Did my search for Mex and this location had the highest rating. Sadly, that wasn't going to reflect on our visit.Starting with the hostess who ignored me as we walked through the restaurant to the warm as outside temperature inside the restaurant (my sour cream was melting before my plate made it to our table) to the server who couldn't be bothered to give us her sole attention to the fact that she forgot both of our requests for to go cups but managed to bring me back my $20 change in a $10, $5 and $5 ones (I guess to be sure she got a tip). To be honest, she's lucky she got $6 bucks on our $29 tab. I took $2 bucks off her tip for her lack of concentration (the phone rang and literally in the middle of me ordering she said excuse me and went to answer the phone-when she managed to make it back she was then distracted by the tip of her pen) and forgetting our to go cups.My husband yelled after her twice "excuse me" and despite being less than 10 ft from our table she appeared not to hear us. This is a one and done for us. Too many let downs for 1 lunch experience.

The food was good however it's in a bad location. Service was excellent and the food is so affordable. Has a nice bar in the back. Bathrooms need a little maintenance.

Went with a friend and her son. Service was good and we were given tortilla chips and 2 dips for free and they were very tasty. Can't pronounce what we had but I would give it a thumbs up. The beef strips I had were a little dry but the dish itself was good. I don't take reviews as gospel unless there is an obvious pattern.

We have been going here weekly this is the 2nd time it was terrible. The waiter never checked on us when he delivered the food we were out of water. I tried to get his attention and was ignored. My chicken nachos had very little chicken and no cheese. Tried to flag waiter several times and was ignored. When I finally got his attention and told him the problem he said the manager would talk to someone

Me and my wife have gone here multiple times now and we can't get enough of the Chori Queso. It's the perfect consistency and seasoned perfectly. All the other dishes we have tried have been excellent as well with great service and always a clean restaurant. Definitely a hidden gem in Elizabeth City. The reason this isn't 5 stars is we did find a hair in my wife's food last time... The staff was very accommodating and replaced the food very fast but that was not a very good sight to see.

I really do wish this place would improve. I'd love to write a positive review so I stopped by for an early dinner. Very light on customers and STILL had to wait over twenty minutes to be served an average meal. Nothing noteworthy. Other people have written about the lackadaisical staff. They were right.

I have been here many times over 10 year and visited yesterday. Ordered the chicken chimichangas, WOW was I disappointed, they were suposed to be shredded chicken but instead what I got was tiny chopped up pieces of tasteless grilled chicken. When I pointed this out to the server she gave me to understand that unless I asked for shredded they give you grilled !! I doubled checked the menu and it clearly says shredded beef or chicken, NO WHERE does it say chopped up grilled chicken and a little of that as well. Very disappointed all she did was say sorry about that and never offered to remake my meal. All I can say is with so many Choices on Mexican Restaurants in town they need to bring their quality of food back up to where it use to be. This will now be my last choice of places to go for Mexican Food.
