I wish we could give this center more than 5 stars, it's that wonderful! Our son has been in the infant program for the past 7 months, and we couldn't be happier. Brightwheel, the program another poster mentioned, keeps us posted on his daily activities and the teachers are always happy to tell me about his day in great detail.Plus we LOVE the teachers! Miss Traci, Miss Dawn, Miss Jamie, Miss Bridgit...they are each so amazing. (most importantly) our son loves them too. They are so warm and engaged, we wouldn't take him anywhere else.3/25/20 update: My son is now in the Twos room and thriving. He knows his alphabet, colors and can count to 20! He also randomly counted to 10 in Spanish the other day (what?!?!). The curriculum is fantastic, and he even has a best bud. They are so sweet together! Our daughter is 5 months and in the infant room. Miss Traci, still one of my son's favorite teachers, is one of the most incredible and loving teachers a mama could ask for. She takes just as good care of my little girl as she did my son.Still highly recommend!

My family and I love this place. We started coming in September of 2018. While we only attended for two months during this time, it was amazing. Ultimately we had to change due to cost constraints and what not but always said we would be back. We recently found the means to enroll my daughter again this February and I'm so glad we were able to do it! My daughter LOVES it and even loves playing "teacher" on the weekend where she pretends to be her teachers and we are her at "school". It warms are heart knowing that she actually sees her teachers as "teachers" and shes only 3 years old. My daughter is incredibly smart and picks up things the first time she is introduced. This is the main reason we wanted her back into La Petite and with their curriculum. Being an elementary school teacher, making sure shes engaged and challenged is important. Every single day, she has a new talent or something. She can count to 20, knows her shapes (hexagons and pentagons- like what, colors, and has a couple sight words). I could not ask for anything more. Bridgit, dawn, sharlette, Kaylah, Kayla and all wonderful women there treat and love my daughter like she was their own and I could not ask for more. I must so add, the first time we attended. My daughter had an unknown food allergy to a not so common food (sesame seeds). One of their healthy snacks is hummus (yum) but a main ingredient is tahini (ground sesame seed). They immediately called me and took the appropriate action. Seriously- they had my daughters like in their hands and they handled it appropriately. Although none of us knew about my daughters allergy, we were able to figure out what it was and now has the proper medical attention

Not only is she totally cool but extremely pleasant EVERYTIME I come!! Morning or night!! The entire staff is very personable and they also know my son BY NAME which is very important!!! It makes me feel like I'm leaving my child in good hands!! He is ALWAYS dry, fed and happy!! And just here recently he doesn't even want to come home!! So not only an I inlove but clearly he is also!! All of the children are clean and appear to b happy with their surroundings!! My son is 1 years old and already attempting to potty Train as well as recognizing his colors and trying to pronounce them!!! The la petite academy on Independence Boulevard is where it's at!! Parents beware--this location and its director have been in "business" mindsets so long they lost sight of the most important thing about daycare--working as a team with the parent. I can only speak for the Infant room but my child lasted 3 days here due to my frustrations. As a doctor, I requested my child not be placed outdoors given he is only 3 months old and not using sunblock until age 6 months. New studies have shown a high risk of skin cancer later on life with sun exposure in childhood. The assistant director assured me that there would not b a problem as I signed the paperwork and paid registration fees. Once I get my child there his first day, however, the director tells me I would need a doctor's note and it would have to pass through legal before it could b approved. Literally jumping through hoops to protect my son. Why? Because of state law she says. Since when would the state endanger children?! What's even crazier is that other daycares find this just as crazy. And although I got the doctor's note, there was still no guarantee he would stay indoors per the director. The teachers were super nice and respectful although communication was also lost sometimes. I brought a large supply of wipes/diapers in and when I didn't see wipes used with his first diaper change and of course said something it somehow got relayed to the night shift that my son required exactly 3 wipes with each diaper change...exactly 3, lol. I couldn't use a specially ordered nipple with my bottles bc I didn't have travel covers on them. I carried nipples in separately and bottles with caps attached. My caps covered each bottle allowing it to be even more sanitary than warming bottles with nipples/travel covers on them. Still they gave me a hard time. FYI my new daycare has no problem doing this. Breastmilk was also a new concept--they keep frozen milk on standby instead of fresh milk and asked u to bring a 24hr supply for storage in their freezers. Although the assistant director and the handbook stated you take your breastmilk home each day.Sleep sacks were also the first thing listed in the handbook to bring with your child but the teachers/directors wouldn't use them bc of misinformation between the organization. Apparently the swaddle version isn't in use but my jacket version should've been fine. But for some reason the director and the teachers don't communicate with each other. Just so frustrating. It was one thing after the next.Ultimately I signed a contract which I honored. I pulled my child after 3 days of constant worrying, found a new daycare the 3rd day and paid the 2 weeks of daycare charges to La Petite anyway as agreed upon in the contract bc he wouldn't be in attendance. It's this La Petite that didn't honor their agreement with me. That bond between a daycare and a parent is precious. We leave our children with the daycare expecting the best.Save urself the frustrations if u"re a new mom going back to work like I did. You want to leave your child with someone you trust. Find another spot.

I started my daughter in their infant program a couple of months ago and couldn't be more pleased. She is happy when she arrives and sees her teachers and always in a good mood when I pick her up. What more could you ask for right? They also have this online program where they send updates when she takes a bottle, gets changes, does activities, etc...it's amazing! The staff is nice and very caring as well. We are very happy here.

My family and I moved to Virginia Beach July of 2015. I was a stay at home mom for 4 years with my son who is 5 now. I was completely terrified to send my child to preschool. After tons of tours and long discussions with my husband and the school themselves. My husband and I decided La Petite on S. Independence was a perfect fit for our son. The teachers throughout the school are kind and generous ladies. My son loves it their he has made many friends and loves learning. He has learned so much from going to preschool. The Junior K teachers have taught him things that would have been a struggle for him to learn at home. This locations teachers are some of the most welcoming ladies I have come in contact with at a preschool. They welcome you with open arms as part of La Petite's family when you walk in those doors.
