Kitty Hawk Surf

I had purchased swim trunks for my son at the duck location. While trying them on, a grommet fell out, exposing the fabric to tears. I had already removed the tags. I called the nags head location to ask if they would take them back. The manager, Jake, explained that he would have to see them. That is just fine, so I brought them to him with all the tags and the receipt then when we grab another pair to exchange them with, the Grommet on the new pair was cracked. Jake handled it like a pro and gave us the benefit of the doubt and let us return the shorts so, I ended up spending $200 more, because he was so gracious to us. Jake was a professional and I appreciate it. He does a good job. He should be commended.

Great tourist souvenir shop and it's kite shop down the small plaza. So many shirts and clothes to choose from! The kite shop had so many kites and lots of kids toys my little girl loved being there. Bought some Kitty Hawk t shirts and kites and toys. It's more $ then say Super Wings but the quality appears to be much better.

6/24/20Haven't been here for a while, but the shark ride has been removed. Pitty, I would have liked to try it out again. In its place now are more paddleboards and kayaks.While looking for something to buy, I saw a Hawaiian shirt I liked, but it wasn't in my size. I like XL, but today, it wasn't in the cards. A young lady in pink clothing reminded me of Velma with long hair. She was knowledgeable about the products sold here and very helpful. Even though I did not buy anything, I will remember the help Velma gave me.

Bottom Line: A legit place for surfboards, boogie boards, SUPs, kayaks and related apparel.This place has a large selection of surfboards, boogie boards, SUPs, kayaks and related apparel. While you won't find bargains here you will find quality, made in the USA gear. For beach enthusiasts, you will also find fashionable swimwear, cover ups, totes and more. The staff is laid back here but definitely more engaging than some other local surf shops.

Found this shop after stopping at ten different places to find a hat for my husband that didn't have OBX plastered on it. By the way, we just got married and are on our mini moon. We walked in knowing exactly what we were looking for. We probably looked like we were on a mission, in which we were. We went from one hat rack to another, skimming through quickly. He specifically wanted a volcom hat and from the logos on the front of the shop we could tell this was the place. While we were looking through the different hat stands I noticed there always seemed to be the same employee where we were. I'm thinking, " maybe he wants to make a sale". Everywhere we went, there he was. After he found the hat he wanted we made our way up to the front, closer to the check out station by the door. I was looking at a few items placed near the check out counter. The girl at the counter stole our attention by abruptly asking if we were " ready to Pay for our things", in a disgusting tone. My husband said " if she doesn't want anything then we're ready, do you want anything sweetheart?" I replied " nope I don't want anything " matching her tone. I was so taken back and confused by this girls tone. I'm thinking "' wow, does she want our money?'" '" maybe she's having a bad day, it's beautiful out...she wants to be at the beach."' She then continued with a snide remark and smirk and said " let me take off this pesky tag for you". You know, the security tag that you have to take off with a key. We walked out of the store and I asked my husband what was up with that girl? He told me they thought we were stealing from them... And then it hit me. They thought we were Stealing from them!!?! I had never been followed before, this was absurd! I left the store feeling ... I can't even describe it. When he told me that , I turned around and looked at the front of the shop in disbelief. I wanted to go back and say something. Whether I say something or not I'm still "the criminal". 1 star for the Volcom hat that we bought and 1 star for the snide remarks from the sales associate. Look, we are just tourists and will only be here for a week, I get that. And it is a touristy spot, I'm sure they get their fair share of attempted thefts, but man did I feel shitty leaving that place. I encourage mgmt to train their employees on spotting potential shop lifting correctly. They failed and in return treated a paying customer horribly. Worst part of our mini moon by far!

You would not believe how hard it is to find a place to sell you a kayak down here! Everywhere we went only wanted to sell their used rental kayaks at the end of the season.Enter, Kitty Hawk Sports. Hallelujah.They have a nice selection of kayaks, surfboards, boogie boards, and outdoor apparel and accessories. The salesman was so helpful and knowledgeable and helped us pick the perfect kayak for my dad. The stuff is not cheap, but this place is great. Check it out!

Cool place to find a customized t-shirt and other tourist nick knacks and souvenirs. A nice place to spend a 1/2 hour wandering around the store and people watching. Picked up a cool t-shirt there that I will wear under my scrubs.

Not the best experience. Came in looking to spend some money. The young man behind the counter barely glanced up. When we said hello we received zero response. The store had some great inventory that we were interested in. When I asked for help finding a particular size I was told "everything we have is on the floor". Funny. That's not what I asked. Too bad. Nice looking store with good merchandise. But if you give off an attitude like you don't want me shopping there...I'm not going to.

I have been looking for a Hobie Passport (pedal kayak) and finally found some here at Kitty Hawk Surf. We drove all the way up from Buxton and Teresa was awesome helping me find exactly what I wanted. She was extremely knowledgable and gave me good advice. She is making sure that the kayak is going form the warehouse to Kitty Hawk kites store near me in Buxton. Great service and I would highly recommend it!

We rented 5 kayaks for 1 day. The young man who helped us was awesome! He was professional and friendly, and took a lot of time to make sure the kayaks were strapped onto the SUV correctly. He also showed us how to connect the seats to the kayaks. Great service!! Highly recommended for kayak rental on the Outer Banks!!
