This place has been around forever and it's starting to show a bit as far as the interior of this store goes. That said, it has pretty much any souvenir you could want to bring home from your trip to the Outer Banks available at fairly decent prices. I scored a few discount t-shirts on the rack they had outside that I'm pretty happy with. If you forgot any essentials like sunscreen or need to pick up bug spray or aloe, this spot won't soak you as much as others in Timbuck II.

Kitty Hawk Kites is a staple in the Outer Banks. Of course there's much more than just kites, which is great because I'll never figure out how to fly one. They have clothing, toys, gadgets, and souvenirs - something to appeal to almost any shopper. It's a great shop to wander through while you're in the area. Worth noting: everyone was wearing masks when we were in.

This feels like a smaller Kitty Hawk Kites than the others I've visited before on the island. There is still a lot of merchandise to look through though, and the customer service is stellar. Our cashier patiently made jokes with our two elementary boys as they worked on counting out their change for their purchases even though there was a line. We really appreciated him allowing the boys to have a positive experience and to not feel rushed while counting their change.

I went to Kitty Hawk kites while staying in Corolla to get a kite for my 2 year old. The girl at the counter was very nice and assisted me in finding a good one for our situation. We live in the city so a fancy beach kite was out of the question. She recommended an easy flyer kite that would fly with even light wind and simple conditions. The kite wasn't cheap but it also wasn't overly expensive. The kite was $25 and the line for it was $5. They have a lot of cute toys in the store as well and their customer service is top notch. I would recommend Kitty hawk kites if you're in the market for a good classic toy or kite!

Much like Wings/SuperWings, Kitty Hawk Kites is everywhere down here. Every shopping plaza you stop at seems to have one. Not that it's a bad thing, KHK seem to be the better priced of the two establishments. This particular location is well organized and stocked with merchandise. The employees were super polite and helpful if you had a question to ask. It made for a great shopping experience. We didn't feel rushed to make a selection and make it to the register in record time. It wasn't very busy in here customer wise either, so it didn't feel like you were being forced out of an area you wanted to look in (maybe it was our luck of the time of day we went?).All in all, it was a great experience in here and I'd be sure to stop back in this spot on my next visit to the area.

The girl at the register must be new. She couldn't figure out how to give a customer change back.

Stopped in here a few times during our week in OBX and picked up a kite for my youngest along with shirts and sweatshirts. After our first visit, we got a coupon for money off if we came back on another day, which we took advantage of. Many of the places around OBX carry very similar items, but if you are in the market for a kite, then this is the place to check out. Overall, prices were about in line with other places but we found some items on sale that we liked, so snatched up a few bargains. Would definitely stop in here again on a future OBX vacation!

Cool place to find a customized t-shirt and other tourist nick knacks and souvenirs. A nice place to spend a 1/2 hour wandering around the store and people watching. Picked up a cool t-shirt there that I will wear under my scrubs.

The store becomes more of a disaster every year. The clutter around the checkout counter is particularly problematic to the point of seriously annoying. We've dealt with it until now, when we had to return a child's T-shirt that was one size too small. It was new and still had the tag on but no receipt. The girl behind the counter appeared to be completely inept at searching for transactions. She called her manager Scott who seems to have told her "sucks to be them." We returned to the beach house, found the receipt, and I went back. Then they expect you to fill out a form with your name and telephone number just for a return. We'll just go to the "genuine" Life is Good store instead of patronizing this place in the future.

If I could give 0 stars I would. We shop here every year and I've always found the place to be clean and organized, if a little cramped in spots, and the staff to be friendly and helpful. Talked myself in to checking it out as my one shopping stop during this years Covid vacation, and I'm so sorry I went in. The staffers were a group of teens who were either not wearing masks or using them as chin straps. Very disappointing to see people in what is usually a busy retail setting not taking the mask mandate seriously. The only good thing was that the store was practically empty so at least the group of irresponsible staff members they had working were not exposing many people to potential germs with their lax/no-mask policy. I will not be back again, and sadly that will end a 15-year tradition.
