Heaven on earth if you are a foodie like me. If you can't find it here then you won't find it anywhere. They have so much.....you could easily spend an hour in here.....if you credit card can take the beating. Dishes, cookware, mixes and jams and sauces....oh my! Cookbooks, gadgets, seasonal....you name it, they have it. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and offered help if we needed it. If you like to cook or need a gift for a foodie this is your store.

We found ourselves in the Old Town section of Portsmouth today after lunch and we decided to visit the Kitchen Koop on High Street. This a a wonderful place to find those "hard to find" items for the Kitchen that you have been looking for or perhaps even the items that you didn't know that you needed. The salesperson was very friendly and helpful with our questions and she was savvy enough to offer suggestions for things that we had not considered. She was not pushy at all and we felt very comfortable just roaming around this eclectic store.A person could spend an hour (if you have the time) and still not "See" everything. The prices are reasonable for the quality offered and my Wife and I really enjoyed ourselves. If you are looking for for a wonderful place to pick up some items for your Kitchen, stop by the Kitchen Koop. You will be happy that you did and you can rest assured that you are supporting local business!

I had a long detailed review about this store written then I thought....something things are best kept simple and to the point. Cool store. We wont be back simply because of how rude the owner was to us.

Maybe my expectations are out of whack, but The Kitchen Koop is a pale imitation of a kitchen equipment store. Lacks everything you would expect -- no selection of several brands of German or French knives, no bakeware for pastries (brioche pans in several sizes, madeline tins, removable bottom tart pans, etc). Just isn't a serious kitchen store -- and, as others have noted, unfriendly staff.Kitchen Barn in VB is better, and will do until we finally rate a Sur La Table

Went to this store on 1/4/19 in the late afternoon. There was a cooking class just wrapping up and the attendees seemed to be enjoying themselves and in good spirits. As far as cooking classes go, I haven't been, but based on what I saw I'd definitely consider taking classes here. As for the store itself, they have a great selection of kitchen gadgets, really let your imagination run wild, because they probably have what you're looking for. They also carry some high end major brand name cookware and bakeware. The customer service was, how to put it...attentive. At first I appreciated it, but then felt like I was being followed around in an effort to prevent shoplifting. I get it. I know that's a problem for business owners, but there's got to be a way to prevent shoplifting without making honest customers feel uncomfortable. In any case, at least there was someone around to answer the couple questions I did have. The reason I'm giving the store two stars is due to the prices. This store, on a whole, is overpriced. Let me give you a few examples. Small glass pinch-prep bowls were $3.95 each. You can buy them elsewhere for anywhere from .99 to $1.95 each, or less than $10 for a set of 8. A ceramic crock, nothing fancy, no major brand name, for holding kitchen utensils was $29.95. To be honest, I just don't know how stores like this will survive with Amazon offering all the same items for less. I was a business owner for 14 years, and I know the challenges of covering overhead, paying employees, etc, but if you're going to price yourself out of the market, what's the point? This is a great little store with just a ton of stuff, well organized and fun to shop (when you don't have someone hovering around you), just don't plan to save money shopping here.

This is one of those places I shouldn't be allowed to go while in possession of a credit card. It's like a homey, country-crafty (or "kountry-krafty") Williams & Sonoma. Not as big or polished--but it's got a lot more character. It's also one of those places that is so packed with neat stuff (if you're kitchen nerd like me) that you don't know where to look first: pots, pans, utensils, dishware, aprons, gourmet goodies and kits. I really wanted a set of tartlet pans I saw there. They sell old fashioned candies and coffee by the pound, which they grind for you. I got some of their "Olde Towne" blend the other day and it's bright and robust and delicious. The owner's a chef and he does cooking classes at the store now and then. I learned this when I inquired about the deluxe six-burner gas stove at the back of the store, which I found out is part of a working demo kitchen. I concur with the other reviewers in that I've experienced a tinge of snobby attitude from the staff in the past. Nothing major...just an indefinable air.

It's so much fun to visit the Kitchen Koop! I love to explore the endless displays of cute kitchen stuff (most of which you really don't "need", which makes it even more fun!) One of the best purchases I've made is this little plastic onion shaped thing that holds your leftover onion in the fridge so you don't smell up your tupperware (or the fridge). They also have a lemon and a lime shaped one to store the unused half. So cute. There are tons and tons of serving plates and bowls, aprons, coffees and teas, the list goes on and on. The only thing keeping the last star off is the owner, who is either a total sweetheart or a total witch, depending on the day. She has been known to yell at customers (my friend is one) and just flips out for no good reason. I'm not sure what her deal is, but that never keeps us from going to check out what's new.

Locally owned gourmet cookware business that pre-COVID also offered cooking lessons. They have what you need to cook with along with yummy fruit spreads made by the i où owner. And if she doesn't have it, you probably didn't need it anyway.

My recent visit was meet with better service, not overbearing but helpful. I do like the kilner jars they carry from the UK that are hard to find around here. They are so pretty and fun to use for canning, storing, etc. I will continue to shop here as I would hate for them to be another victim of Amazon online shopping. Where else can u get just the right size ramekins at the last minute?
