Kempsville Greens Golf Course

Alright so since the range marshal or whoever was at the 1st hole wants to be a Dbag here's a review. We show up 30 min early as a 2 some and they pair us up with 2 older gentleman who just happened to be awesome thankfully. There was nobody in line playing yet so we got to start early since those slots were not booked. We were on the 1st tee box 25 min before our time. I told the 2 gents they can go ahead and play together and we'll start after them at our original tee time so me and my buddy can play together since we playing blue and them senior tees. This ahole comes ripping by in his cart reeking of weed yelling we have to play together and I mentioned we still have 20 min till our time I think it's fine he shouts some crap and goes and tells the guys to stop and wait for us to catch up then continue. Enjoy your review because you wanted to flex your golf course power on us buddy

I haven't played Kempsville in several years and was pleasantly surprised at the course condition - in great shape. The greens and fairways were well covered and manicured perfectly. Some tee boxes needed work but most were good. The price was very reasonable for seniors and the pace good. We played the par 70 course in under 3-1/2 hours. The golf carts were state of the art and had GPS included as well as electronic scoring. Great job Mike Fentress and staff.

Golf good, and golf fast. Golfed here for the first time and staff is ON YOU to golf as fast as possible to keep the tee times golden. Stopped to get a drink and sandwhich after 9th hole and staff insisted I get moving because the group behind me was there. (They were in line behind me) so we're still good. But they rushed me out instead of spending money on food and beer. Had temporary greens which were trash BUT to be fair the price was right so csnt complain about that. If I wasn't rushed so much it would get 4 stars. Nice course. Staff has personal problems.

Absolutely disappointed in the conditions of this course. The greens are so diseased it is hard to even play them! They even have artificial grass for the tee boxes. I used to live on this golf course and had the first standing tee time on Sunday walking, the traps were hard as concrete back then, this course in my opinion is the worst in Tidewater. They said they are getting ready to replace the greens, they need to work the traps and these artificial tee boxes. Waste of money and time in the current condition.

Not a bad course. Nice staff. Hopefully the fairways will become green in the summer. It was all gray grass except the putting green. Reasonable price. Short course 5844 yds with par 70.

Range marshal was overzealous, speeding around frantically as if every group on the course was committing some heinous act of destruction to the fabric Golfdom. Thought golf was supposed to be relaxing.

Customer service is the worst in VB. Marshall yelled at us twice because we had a large group even though we reserved 2 consecutive tee times. We played separate but ended up together at points due to the course running slow (busy day) And we also only played front 9! And I mean he came zooming sideways, cutting across the middle of the fairway, obnoxious. Made the whole experience stressful. Treated us like a bunch of teenagers. Will never be going back, the course itself is not even worth it, holes 5-8 face directly into the sun and the greens are awful. Whoever is in charge of maintaining the course should be fired. Just an awful experience all together.

WOMEN-AVOID THIS COURSE! Went to this course with 4 ladies from work around 2pm, on Wednesday, 8/25/2021. We were looking forward to a fun, relaxing afternoon. After paying for 3 carts and 9 holes each, it was explained to us that to keep play moving, we would need to be put into 2 groups, no problem, we understand golf and have all played before. We decided to play best-ball to keep us moving. Upon arriving at the 1st hole, we sat there for a minute as there was a group walking the course already waiting. The Ranger, an older man, came flying over to us and snapped, "What are you waiting for...GO!" We were surprised at his attitude and went ahead of the group. After the first 2 of our 3 carts teed off, my partner and I teed off and we moved forward. Second hole, 1st group teed off and moved, our turn. The Ranger came up on us quickly, pointed at us and snarled, "Who lied to me!? I am SURE you were told how to play your group in the clubhouse!" Then he mansplained how we should be in 2 separate groups to move play along, not even bothering to ask us how we were playing. My partner got out of the cart and asked him why he was being "so ugly" to us. He said he wasn't, grunted, and took off. For the rest of the round, we were angry and waited to be scolded again. If I wasn't with a work group, I would have turned around and asked for my money back. I GUARANTEE he would NOT have spoken to a group of men that way. My group all have husbands who regularly play golf and all have said that they will NOT be going to Kempsville Greens again. Personally, I feel that the course was ok, the staff inside the clubhouse was nice, but the Ranger on duty that day should be fired or taught some manners. I will be telling everyone who plays golf in VB to AVOID this course. ESPECIALLY WOMEN!

Very disappointed in the lack of customer service from this business. Called them for a recommendation of someone who could give golf lessons for my child. Called the person they recommended twice and never got a return call. Called the golf course back and left a message for someone else and never got a return call. Called to explain the situation and hopefully get the name of a different golf instructor and they have no suggestions. Whoever I spoke with was very rude and clearly just wanted to get rid of my call. Obviously they are unconcerned with helping their customers.

Ol kville is the best deal in tidewater. Especially with the new membership! Friendly staff and great times.
