Kebab House

While in the are with a coworker we stopped in for lunch... I selected this place because I was in the mood for Mediterranean food. The décor is interesting and looks like a Turkish market - Really nicely done! They weren't busy when we went in and our server immediately greeted us and let us sit where we wanted. He was great at taking care of us during our stay and explained the menu and the way they prepare food just perfectly!They had some very interesting and unique items on the menu, some I'd never even heard of before and that sounded very appetizing! I decided to go with kabob and selected an Adana Kabob, which is beef and a chicken shish kabob. The beef kebab was spiced nicely and tender, definitely not dry nor overcooked, which can be common with these thin style ground meat kabobs. The chicken was flavored nicely and very tender and moist. The rice was nice and had a decent flavor too. We also tried their hummus which was really good and it came with their homemade bread, rather than a pita bread. The bread was really good, very nicely done, tasty, and soft! Their hummus was flavored nicely and they had a spicy dip which had a great flavor too.To finish, we opted for some rice pudding and their Turkish coffee. The coffee was great! Definitely not bitter and that pudding was very flavorful too!Loved this visit and would love to return to try more items from their amazing menu!

Oct 20Food was really good. Clean and professional staff.Ordered togo and when i got home 30 mins later was still good.Sometimes they cater to the masjid i go to and they all love it there too. I rank my decisions to eat somewhere again as:1 star - if someone else buys it I won't eat it, I would rather go hungry.2 star - if I'm hungry, no other options are open and someone buys it - I would consider eating it3 star - I'm ok with eating it as long as someone else pays 4 star - I will eat again and pay for it and be a semi-regular customer 5 star - I will travel for good food and pay good money and be back on a regular basis and maybe even pay for yours just so we can go

The food tasted just like I was back in Türkiye, and the service was second to none! Definitely a return visit is required! Decor was typical Turkish, with some Italian/Med influence.

We had a fantastic dining experience while traveling through the area. The food was amazing.. great spice and generous portions. The service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was very clean and welcoming. We would certainly recommend!

This Dish Was Authentic. The Chicken Tasted Like Mexican Mixed With Chinese, Very Delicious. Also Came With Handmade Bread Which Was Great! I Enjoyed The Atmosphere, Felt Cozy And Welcoming. This Place Was Hiding At The End Of A Strip Of Places So I Knew It Was Going To Be Good And The Service Was Quick.

This might be closer to 3.5 stars but a lot of good things outweighed a few negatives so we are going with the 4 stars! Excellent: Very friendly service (though a bit slow at times) Baba gnnousch and fresh breadHot teaRice White pizza Pita bread Not my favorite: the donner meat was not cut very thin. The meat was not bad I just prefer a thinner cut. Would probably order kebabs next time. Will try this place out again!

Back in Newport News at my wife's favorite Mediterranean/Turkish digsAppetizers are in order calamari with chili sauce and traditional mozzarella sticks they also offer a array of Italian food from pizza to stromboli,spaghetti,lasagna and much more.. for Entrees I played it safe and ordered the Doner Lamb Gyro and my bestie ordered the mixed grill a collection of Lamb chops, chicken kabob,Doner meatRice, salad and carrot dip all of which was done to perfection flavor Personified. The service was great fresh squeezed lemonade served with authentic Mediterranean music filling the air creating a relaxed ambiance with a flair for dining.

Kebab House is ok. The esthetics are ok, but the layout seems a bit odd. The restaurant was slow since it was mid afternoon when I stopped. The wait staff was courteous and quick to seat me, get me drinks and take my order. The guy explained the menu and answered my questions. The food was ok. The flavor was alright. The temperature was only slightly warmer than room temperature. The meat texture was firm, not tender as I've had at other Kebab restaurants. Their wine list is ok. It has something basic for most people. I was hoping for a better experience based on the 4 and 5 star reviews, but it came up short for me. I might try it again when it's busier with the hope that the food will come out warmer.

Atakan was our server, and was so wonderful. We had hoped to have a gyro as it looked delicious, but alas that was a lunch only option. We had a few questions about the menu as we'd never been to a genuine Turkish restaurant and Atakan was so patient, explaining the various dishes, and even brought us a sample to try the various sauces. I ended up doing the Donner kebab, a house made lamb gyro with side salad, rice, and tzatziki sauce. Wow. Blown away by how great everything was. Great flavors, and a generous portion. My wife got the Kavurma kebab, the meat was delicious and the sauce an exotic Tracey full of flavors. I'll be uploading revised menu pictures as the menu has changed. If you like Mediterranean or Middle eastern food, this place does not disappoint, and we are sure to visit whenever we are in the area.

Service was outstanding!!!Don't get many smiles when you're being Serviced now a days, but felt very appreciated here. Food was better than expected for America. Sometimes they can try to cater the the American palet and mess things up.. Being a traveler I very much enjoyed! We got the sampler platter.My daughter ate the whole hand made loaf of bread by herself Definitely coming back
