I have made the drive between Greensboro and Washington DC, many many times. Often my husband and I just grab a quick bite and eat in the car, but when we have a little more time it is nice to actually stop somewhere and enjoy a sit down meal. South Hill, VA is a good stop with many options close to the highway. Kahill's is our favorite. The atmosphere is casual with multiple dining areas as well as seating at the full bar. They do close in the middle of the day between lunch and dinner. We arrived close to the end of lunch shift. There did not seem to be a host. We waited a bit too long be addressed. The people who arrived right before us actually walked out. We ended up being seated and served by the bartender. Though she was doing a lot on her own, she was very attentive to us throughout our visit. This restaurant and pub has a large menu with sandwiches and burgers as well as more fancy entrees like steak and seafood. The specials menu mentioned having Red Pepper Bisque. It was a bit of a cold day, so sharing a bowl of soup with the husband sounded perfect. It was a very hearty, creamy, and therefore tasty soup, with cheese and scallions on top. Nice start to the meal. I was a bit shocked it cost $10 (price not listed on specials menu). I know pricing is going up for everything, but it felt like a lot for soup. For my entree, I got a burger (think it was called the Kay Mountain) with the house chips. When presented with the plate my first thought was that it was a bit of a miss from a visual standpoint. Just kinda white and plain. I appreciated they make the chips in house. They were plentiful and cooked well. I just like my house chips more soft, these, to me, were a bit too much like bagged potato chip consistency. However, I know that is my personal preference. The burger maybe wasn't pretty, but it was darn tasty. It had a nicely cooked fried egg on top that oozed out as I took bites. Nicely roasted vegetables and lots of cheese. The burger just melted in your mouth. Also appreciated they toasted their hamburger bun. Satisfied my burger craving for sure. While my visits are sparse at best. Kahill's has remained a very tasty and a good lunch stop throughout the years. Seems many traveling on Interstate 85 agree. Weirdly enough they also have Tesla charging stations here, so they attract many who drive that vehicle. Whatever it takes right!

Loved waking in the back door. Looked like a killer patio scene in fall/ spring. Really enjoyed the pork chop. Kind of upscale kind of local- loved the vibe. Service was good.

Good food and Tesla chargers! Service is always good too. We stop here to charge and grab a quick bite every time we come through. Swing by and give them a try, especially if you have a Tesla.

Whomever decided to place Tesla superchargers in the back of the restaurant grounds is a freaking genius. I arrived looking for chargers and left with $50 dollars worth of food. Well not exactly, I did go inside to have a decent makers mark old fashion lol. For the first time in Yelp history I ordered a salad to complement my old fashion. This is literally the first time I posted a picture of a salad but I will say...it wasn't too bad. Items I took to go were calamari, and the bang bang shrimp, and an extra Togo salad...what can I say....I have a thing for salads now. Bang bang and calamari are decent...no preference each would be worth the try....upon entry there a live music set up which is pretty nice...you can immediately tell I wasn't from the area but the customer service was very welcoming. The gentlemen at the bar gave me a small run down and even shook my hand upon leaving and told me safe travels. I believe her name was Lizzy...she was great...she asked me my name...remembered it...and showed me this salt trick to ensure your napkin doesn't stick to your glass...it pays to be a little adventurous and open to new things. Until next time.

My wife and I just ate lunch here...a real gem!Fully stocked bar (too early to drink for me, but I did notice ;-D), low-key decor, great wait staff (Haley was really helpful, super attentive and prompt on all service points!) and great menu.We tried their lunch menu (full restaurant menu is also available for lunch as well), and I had the ribeye chili and the brisket grilled cheese. Both were excellent, but I have to call out the chili: it had a ton of meat, so even at just a cup it was so filling I almost had no belly room for the sandwhich! My wife had the lobster bisque, which was also great tasting (but not as heavy as my chili) and the calamari appetizer from the regular menu: she thought that she could be more "light" with an appetizer instead of a main dish, but the portion was pretty generous (and came with both cocktail sauce and a sweet chili sauce).Great place with good, low-key, calming ambiance and hearty food...we couldn't have been more lucky to happen across it on our trip! Also, we don't own a Tesla, but they had at last 5 Tesla (had the Tesla name at the top of each one) charging stations in the back of the parking lot...if I owned one of those EVs, then I couldn't think of a better place to charge up and relax at the same time!

The food was pricey for the amount received. I would recommend Mayflower's as far as seafood and steak. The atmosphere was lovely. The service was great. My bill came up to $90.55
