John's Seafood

Johns was a stop made by my girlfriend and her family while visiting her grandparents. The restaurant was very clean and dressed as if it was a fancy restaurant, although the food wasn't necessarily fancy. I'm not sure how many cooks were back there but the food took a very very long time to come out for our party of five. There was also no one else in the restaurant at the time we ordered. Besides that though, our waitress was super nice and refills came often. The salad bar was a highlight of our expierence here. You got to choose from different types of lettuce, toppings and even macaroni salad. The only downfall is that it was just one trip allowed. You really have to load it up in the tiny bowls they give you. As for the hush puppies, they were hot and fresh. The portion was alright but definitely could've used some more for a party of our size. Great for 2-3 people tho. The butter it came with paired very well and added a nice creamyness to the soft inside of the appetizer. I would say this was another highlight. As for my food, the seared oysters were very salty. They tasted like they were fresh out of the Atlantic. I think some more seasoning to balance it out would have helped. The shrimp was okay, nothing spectacular. The scallops were probably the best out of the three I got. They melted in your mouth and were seasoned generously. As for my side of green beans, they were actually excellent. They weren't some fancy green bean that you don't like, they were buttery and soft like a traditional southern green bean. I loved them so much. As for my girlfriends dish, her clam strips were excellent. Everything you want in a bite sized snack dish. The fries were okay, nothing to die for in my opinion. The crab cakes were okay, the inside had a lot of flavor and they were nicely sized. The crispy outside added a nice bite to it as well. The thing holding be back from giving it five starts is one, the wait time to get our food, and two the price. The price is really high especially for the amount of food you get. My dish alone was 28 dollars and I left the restaurant still hungry. The quality was 7/10 but I didn't quite understand the fancyness of the restaurant. The only thing that matched that vibe was the small portions. I think I would give John's a try again if I was in the area and I think it's something to try. Her grandparents said they have the best seafood in town and although it was good, the price is holding it back for me. I would recommend you try it yourself though.

Excellent prime rib. Baked potato. Butter was almost frozen. Great service. Place is well dated.

Crawfish tails tasted extremely old. They had a fishy smell and flavor and about halfway through the plate one was so spoiled I had to spit it out. Popcorn shrimp had no flavor. My father had the fried platter. Scallops were a joke, crab cake was all filler, fish tasted freezer burnt. Meal was absolutely terrible. Then I give the waitress my card to pay. After waiting for 10 minutes and never seeing her, a receipt, or my credit card, I went searching. Found my credit card and receipt on the main counter with no one around it.Signed my name and was kind enough to leave a tip. Grabbed my card and walked out without anyone speaking to us (thank God no one else grabbed it first.) Needless to say I will never return.Oh by the way it was $60 for two people. $60 for rotten freezer burnt seafood

Our best local seafood place. The owner John Taylor takes personal charge of all the food preparation and makes sure it's right. Reasonable priced and plenty of it.

My family and I waited 1 hour and 17 minutes on our meals on Sat.Aug.26 17.Food was average cost was high for the portions. I would not recommend this place,and will not be returning.

Not impressive. Too expensive for what you get. Servers were very friendly. I ordered a seafood platter that was over cooked. My wife ordered a pork chop. It was vert thick but bland. Would not return

I heard about this restaurant on a favorite radio station, so I thought I'd take my mom since it's not far from home, BIG MISTAKE!! I ordered oysters, shrimp, and crab cakes. The oysters were undercooked and underseasoned. The shrimp were beautifully cooked, but the oil they were cooked in was either old or used to cook something else. That ruined the taste of the shrimp. And the crab cakes were some of the worst I've eaten...the outsides were almost burned and the insides were loose and tasteless! When you pay over $30 for a seafood dinner you expect at least part of it will be good...this meal was a total disappointment.

We went at lunch time on a Sunday, we were seated pretty quickly. The waitress we had was new, I think, she had no social skills or listening skills. The whole meal was a disaster, we had 4 adults and one child, none of our orders were correct. The waitress never refilled our glasses, never asked if we needed condiments, even though we asked multiple times, never got them. Two ordered popcorn shrimp at $14.50 a plate and that was a joke, it was these little bits of nothing. The few pieces of shrimp were smaller than canned salad shrimp. And to top things off the manager would never come to our table to speak to us. We asked three times!!! And the waitress looked at my Dad and told him "it wasnt her fault"!!!!!! She never once apologized for any of our complaints. The meal was a little over $100 and it was the worst experience I had in my life. If I could give negative stars I would, they do not even deserve the one star. It was such a sad experience.

Last two meals were better and the waitress did a great job. Clam strips great and nice steak.

Great food and service. Waitress was on point she took care of everything she made sure if we needed anything she got it for us quick. Steak was tender and shrimp seasoned prefect. Try the stuff flounder wonderful. John is great
