Had well-priced concessions, outdoor water pickets to rinse off sand and bathrooms. Thick-sand present, along with picnic tables and char-grills on the upper grass area. $10 all day (includes re-entry) beach-front parking for non-williamtonings. Parking staff was very friendly and plenty of parking, however not shaded so definitely bring a windshield solar reflecter.

What a lovely hidden gem! Great riverfront beach with ample beach space for all. The water is quite shallow so it's a great place for families to take young children swimming. Waves are gentle and the water is warm. We had a great day here and will return!

What a great little beach area! My little family and I went here for a few hours on a Sunday. We went early around 10 and left 1:30. Not too many people at all, plus the people that were there were pretty spread apart. The parking lot is just a few short minutes away from the actual beach area. There's steps to go down to the water or if you keep going around and down the path towards the bathrooms and concession stand, you can walk a straight path to the beach, making it easier to bring a wagon (which is what we did). It was our first time here and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place! It's quiet and clean and well kept! The bathrooms are clean and right next to the water. There's a concession stand and while we didn't buy anything cause we brought our own food, there were lots of cheap typical beach food items. There were lots of picnic tables and you can bring your own grill. It's dog friendly! The water is low key and calm. There's plenty of trash cans available and there's also places for you to wash off the water and sand afterwards. Loved it! Will definitely be back!

Was visiting williamsburg and kids wanted to go to a beach. We were initially planning to go to VA beach, but the. It was too far . We then went to Jamesburg beach . It was about 10 mins away for us and kids loved it . We didn't know it was a fresh water beach . And was pretty neat ! Water was a bit cold , but once the kids went in, they didn't want to come out . With 84F sunshine , it was a perfect day for swimming . Not that crowded too. Parking was a bit challenging but we loved this place overall. There are so many grills outside and a place to shower etc. would surely recommend to others. Not much of food around . Need to go back to williamsburg for food . Liked it overall.

We visited this park on Sunday. Nice, quiet remote beach. Great for smaller children. My only issues was all the dogs not on leashes. Everyone is not an animal lover. We had a small child that was in the water and here comes a big unleash dog. Then an elderly lady took her dog off the leash and allowed him to free roam. The dog was all over the place and she couldn't keep up with the dog and the dog wasn't listening her. Animals should be restricted to a certain area of the beach only. There should be strict restrictions about animals.

Jamestown Beach is my favorite spot on a summer morning. I get there between 10-10:45 am, and only a few others are on the beach. Pack a favorite book, some water, and sunscreen. Bring a chair and an umbrella. It's so peaceful here--especially in the areas away from the ferry dock. The water is warm, calm, and shallow. I always bring a noodle to float. While he beach is on the James River, it feels like I'm a at peaceful lake. You can see osprey soaring and vultures lurking--though they don't bother you. I stay for about 2.5 hours, then pack up as the beach gets busier.

paid $7 to have my family feel uncomfortableWe have been looking to visit this beach for two weeks. Traveled from a few hours out because based on reviews we assumed it would be nice.Arrived at the gate 10 min till 0800. Gate opened right on time and it was $7 a car. Since we were literally the first ones in we got the best seat in the house, next to the pier by the bathrooms.Weather was going to be 70°s and cloudy. We did not like the park because it is obviously man made. Not what we were expecting. The water was calm but stagnant. Green and smelly. This "beach" park is more fitting for animals. Apparently people do not keep their pets on leashes because two gold retrievers were let loose and one charged my 18 month old, hence why you leash dogs in public.Lastly but most important, as my spouse and oldest child (13 yo girl) were undressing to swimsuits Pat (park manager) and Ray (maintenance man) thought it fitting to undress them with their eyes. Not only did they disrespect my family, it was an utter display of gross behavior and they looked like perverts. Its as if I wasn't standing there at all and they had absolutely no concern for what they were doing.Despite the rage I felt, I was more concerned with how uncomfortable Pat (older white male) and Ray (older white male) made my family feel. We decided it was in their best interest we leave. Its now 0900 in the morning and instead of enjoying a family outing, they felt assaulted.I complained to the parking attendant about the two men before knowing their staff positions. The nice lady called the manager so I could speak to them about what happened and guess what it was fucking Pat. I got to look that disgusting piece of shit in the face and let him know that was unacceptable behavior. All in all, the park did not meet our expectations and we chose to visit Yorktown Beach instead and had a better time.

Great safe swimming spot for young kiddos. We brought our daughter here and it was great to let her wade in the tame water and the sand/beach was really clean. Clean bathrooms with a changing table and plenty of grassy area for picnic time too. A bit of a walk from the parking lot so bring your stroller! There are 2-3 inlets to decide yourself in if you want more privacy too.

We had a lovely time at this beach, very family friendly and dog friendly, good restrooms, a place to rinse off, the water was clean, and the entrance fee (currently $7 on the weekend for passenger vehicles) is small for a day's worth of fun. Pay with cash and you'll avoid the 3% transaction fee. In-season you can rent kayaks, there's a concession stand although I didn't buy anything from it so I can't vouch for whether or not it is a good value. There are two "sides" to the beach area with a small pier that divides them. One side offers picnic tables and tall trees with shade, the other is all beach and no shade. Take your pick.

This is a perfect beach for children. The waves are tiny and the water is shallow. My four year old felt confident splashing around while my one year old sat Near the shoreline splashing as well. It's a small walk to get to the beach, but it's never super crowded and we are always able to find a spot. The beach has a concession area and bathrooms. The bathrooms were clean, but does run out of toilet paper occasionally. There is a fee for parking, but is free for Local residents.
