Islander Motel

Don't let the term "motel" sway you against staying- this place is great! It's literally steps away from the beautiful beach- perfect for getting up early to catch the sunrise. Beach chairs and umbrellas available for you to use during the day, and when you return you can rinse off in the outdoor shower available in the garden/backyard area of the hotel. That's what I liked most about my stay- it felt quaint and homey. The room was fine, perhaps a bit dated, but the bed was comfy and the view from the balcony was lovely! I would definitely stay again!

Definitely 5 stars. Great rates especially for an ocean view room. Front desk employee was super helpful. Super clean room. Can't ask for much more than that

The Islander is a basic mom and pop motel at the southern end of Nags Head and located on the beach. It is a bit dated with no frills, but clean and well kept. The price was good for being on the beach and oceanfront. The location is great and within walking distance to a lot. The staff was friendly. The pool was nice and clean. Parking was not a problem. The people staying there were all decent and it was quiet at night. The views of the ocean and dunes were great. The bed slept fine; the a/c was good; and the room was bug and hair free. (I always inspect thoroughly.) I like staying in mom and pop motels on some of our trips, depending on the type of trip we're taking. It was just the two of us this time and it was a last minute and casual road trip in our Jeep. The Islander worked fine for us. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for the person who isn't too high maintenance and doesn't hate older mom and pop motels. Clean and comfortable place to stay on the beach at a reasonable rate.

it's a very basic, but clean and friendly motel in the best location possible at Nags Head, NC.Good price, very friendly staff, and a GREAT pool.. not huge, but clean and fun.walking distance to lots of things to do.we stay here every year for a week before our family house rental and we love it!!

The Islander Motel in Nags Heads NC is an awesome family friendly and clean place to stay at when visiting the Outer Banks, the rates are great as well. I've been visiting the Outer Banks for nearly 10 years and will only stay at the Islander Motel, a great place to stay at when going to the Outer Banks.Darrell

After arriving, I felt this place was a little sketchy because it's very dated and smells like bleach. However, the nice view (from the 3rd floor) and proximity to the beach soon warmed me up. No-frills, but there's a 50-cent soda machine, decent balcony, and community washer/dryer; you can't beat the location for the price, even if you can hear all the other guests.

Cheep and cheerful! Room was clean and quiet. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Room rate was unbelievable. We had a fridge and a microwave in the room. Cable. There was a porch but it was a weird enclosure. Regardless. Amazing. Wi be sure to stay again! Make sure to register your vehicle at check-in.

Pros:- Service was outstanding! The owner was very helpful, helped us with our bags, gave us some pointers and was just downright super-friendly. We felt very well-taken care of.- Our 3rd floor room was clean, pretty spacious for one with 2 beds, and we had a nice view of the ocean. It's always nice to wake up to that kind of a sight.- They have a private beach entrance, which doesn't involve walking in zig-zags.- The outdoor pool is clean, plenty of seating on the deck, as well as some pool noodles and a beach ball.- There's a space to have an outdoor barbeque and sit at a table, although I never used it.- The value of the place, in my opinion, is excellent. You won't get an oceanfront room at Nags Head for this price with all the amenities, the cleanliness, and the outstanding service!Cons:- The TV was a bit small, and there were some issues with the channels once in a while.- The pool is also a bit small. We went when a family of about 6-7 people were also there, and it felt like we were invading their private party. There's not much room to frolic in the pool when another group is also there.Overall:If you're looking for a quality oceanfront motel, definitely consider the Islander Motel. I would highly recommend it.

Went down there for a week and had an absolutely great time.Love being able to walk to so many places.The staff were all remarkable, attentive and help[ful.Will definitely go back!!!

So the first thing was our room was RIGHT on the other side of the office & during office hours if you are in the room you can hear them. Second thing was our room wasn't even clean. The handles/ knobs were all sticky, there was hair on the bed & toilet, i found some nasty thing on the rug so it wasn't vacuumed well, and the tile floor in the kitchen was HORRIBLE we had to lay down our towels just to walk across it, likesomeone spilled grease and didn't clean it up. Third problem was our ceiling fan light cut on by itself all times of the night, it was annoying to wake up to a bright light and have to cut it off every few hours. I think the only good part about our room was being so close to beach but we won't come here ever again it was just gross tbh
