Illy Caffe - Williamsburg

One of the many coffee options in Merchant Square, silly had a variety of hot and cold options for you to choose from. While they can get busy, they can get through the line pretty quickly. Both the indoor and outdoor seating are also kept very clean. I got a caramel cream tempesto, which is basically a frappe. It was filled past the top when I got it, which was great because I was sticking around, but if I wanted a lid, I'd probably make a mess. It also turned to just ice when I had about a quarter remaining, which was a bit of a bummer.

I noticed Illy only has 4 stars so I felt like I had to write a review. I love their coffee/ espresso menu and ambiance reminiscent of an upscale European cafe because it's unique to this area where Starbucks and IMO overpriced niche coffee shops dominate Hampton roads

It's Illy so those who know coffee know a good thing. I've never been to an Illy caffe before but was happy to find one in the heart of colonial Williamsburg merchant square It's bright, clean, serves amazing coffee, gelato, pastries, and COCKTAILS. Did I mention that you can enjoy an aperol spritz or espresso martini while the rest of your group eats their gelato or brownies?And it's fairly reasonable for a tourist area- $10 for the cocktails and $5 for an iced mocha.Service was fast and friendly. Stop in and you'll appreciate why Illy outshines a Starbucks any day.

Decent coffee. WiFi does not work so not a great study location. There a multiple network options, but even with the provided password they are disfunctional.

Let me just say this place has a lot of great options to choose from. Unfortunately, I could not sample them all. I took the suggestion from one of the workers and chose the raspberry tart and I got an iced vanilla latte. Iced coffee is not normal go to. I've only had one other iced coffee that was so good that when it was finished I immediately wanted another one. This is one of those. Unfortunately I didn't have time for another. Raspberry tart was real good crust flaky. Great raspberry taste..

I would have to say; this place was your typical cafe. I was not impressed with the customer service. I asked for my croissant warmed up, and they gave it to me cold. I nicely asked them to warm it up and one of the young workers said "I saw him put it in the oven"..I just starred.. and politely asked again for it to be warmed. Once he actually warmed it, that's when it was warm!! Quite the difference. When he handed it to me; I knew it hadn't been put in the oven.... The croissant tasted good!The peach cupcake was delicious. The baker, she came out and spoke to me and was very nice! The atmosphere was cute and connected to a gift store, which was nice to be able to slide in there after shopping, but I would def recommend the staff being more kind and owning up to their mistakes.

This Illy is in a great location, but they really need to raise their standards on cleanliness. I went in today (26NOV24) right after opening, was kind of shocked. The gelato area was grody with half-melted gelato and spills everywhere, and the baked good area had all manner of crumbs and debris in it; and all right in front of the customers. Like I said: it was right after opening, so whoever was supposed to clean up the night before just blew it off, I guess. Time to raise the bar, Illy ....

This place must be a locals favorite because the line was long and the store was busy! The menu and pastries options were plenty. There's even cocktail espresso drinks. I ordered a decaf iced lavender cafe latte. The coffee wasn't as strong as I'm use to, but nonetheless pretty good. Not sure if their syrups are homemade. There were also milk alternatives like oat and almond.The pastries consists of donuts, bread, croissants and etc. They all look yummy! But didn't try it this go around. I will the next time though.Overall, it's still a decent place to get your coffee fixed.

Cold brew was great! They had an issue getting the cold brew machine to work but they figured it out. Really liked the sleek look outside and inside. Staff was super friendly. Left off one star for the review because it was missing that coffee shop element of community. I mean if you are a coffee person seeking out new coffee shops all the time you know what I am talking about! That feel you get when the locals walk in and everyone knows them. The feel of family.... This place didn't have that. But coffee was great! The ham and cheese croissant was spot on. It was clean and staff was nice! Would go again.
