Ichiban Japanese Food Store

I loved everything about this store. The owner was incredibly helpful and helped me shop every step of the way. She let me know that Mondays and Wednesdays are when they receive their shipment for new inventory. She came here 40 years ago and have had Ichiban open and in business for 30+ years! Incredible knowing how much courage and patience it must have taken her to move here in the US and have a store successful enough to stay open for 3+ decades. I was able to stock up on everything I needed to make Japanese cooking. Everything was competitively priced to other rival stores and it was clean and organized. I was impressed by the varieties of dashi stock base and miso they have. I am looking forward to visiting when the new inventory arrives again. Highly recommend to anybody needing Japanese food stuffs. This store puts Maruichi to shame back home. Lovely store all around.

i love this place so much! the customer service is wonderful and every time i walk inside, i'm greeted with a smile! they sell japanese food, drinks, and other trinkets! i love how i can speak japanese to the cashier as well (she also speaks english), she's amazing and i wish i had asked for her name. all in all i highly recommend this place!!

This is a small, convenient store located in the Lynnhaven Mall corridor. The food selection is slim. But they have what I want the most. I am addicted to the rice cakes & the red bean cakes. They are located in a freezer at the rear of the store. Although purchased frozen, they are quick to thaw & enormously tasty. I'd love to see more food selections & a better utilization of the space.

One of two Japanese owned Japanese grocery store. Most of all Japanese food you can get from here including Tamaki rice, koshihikari, and Sasanishiki, Hitomebore. I like Natto, and roll cake. Frozen but good quality.

My wife loves Ichiban and is always included in our Va Beach shopping run. A good selection of dry and frozen merchandise though not huge. The sake selection is adequate with several varieties. The employees are extremely social and helpful.

We shop there every time we visit Virginia Beach. and they have many items in their freezers that you must see - to include Okinawa Soba. Friendly Staff and the best prices in town. Many varieties of Can Coffee also - and cold Japanese Coffee is so good!

Great Japanese store!! Nice assortment of cookies and seasonings. Manju, Natto etc. the owner is very nice too

Really cool, small shop. I don't typically shop for Japanese products but wanted to try some things like their edamame and ramen. The lady working was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely be coming back.

A small but lovely shop. They have lots of different ingredients, snacks and drinks for you to try. They also have plenty of fun trinkets to take home. If you need any ingredients for a Japanese meal or just want to try some snacks/drinks, definitely check this shop out!

Great place to get genuine products of Japan. And super friendly service! There is a wide selection of drinks from Japan very tasty.
