Food is more than solid from this sweet family owned and operated small town establishment. Great breakfast and good friendly service.

I have lived on the island now for 5 years. Howard Dooley is my favorite place to eat. Everything is good!!!!

I am a south GA girl whose great grandfather owned a BBQ restaurant, so it just simply runs in my blood. I'm here to tell you, that sandwich was one of the best I've had in a long time. The seasoning was on point, not too salty, but nowhere near bland. It was tender and juicy, just good! I think the only thing that would have made it better would have been my secret family bbq sauce! I actually forgot to take a picture bc I just wanted the thing in my belly!

I don't mean to be rude, but what you call hash browns are actually home fries/country fried potatoes. Actually surprised there is confusion about this in the South, but here we are. Hash browns are what they serve at Waffle House. Food is pretty decent but very simple and lacks spice and depth of flavor. Pancakes are straight-up bad - very bland. Haven't had anything that wowed me, but a better spot than most in Mathews.

Man did we love the fact that we stopped here! Wanted a nice non-fried late lunch and found it here at Howard Dooley. Got the sautéed crab sandwich and The Taylor sandwich. Make sure to choose the Mac salad for a side and save room for those desserts or get them to go like we did!!

A good breakfast. Their sausage was wonderful and appears to be homemade, not the store-bought stuff. Eggs were served as requested, coffee flowed , and the proper condiments were available. The staff was attentive, and the price was right.

Excellent food quality. Service was first class. If I was a local I would be a regular here for sure.

Amazing food and very friendly staff. The portion sizes are very generous and food prices are very reasonable. The decor inside is very nice as well!

Great homemade menu...reminds me of home. I especially love the breakfast dishes which will satisfy everyone who loves a good 'ole country meal.

Just had a You Pick 3 breakfast (eggs, delicious sausage patty, toast). Clean, quick and friendly service. Saw the lunch specials being written up and plan to come back for lunch!
