Hotel Manteo

Absolutely terrible! One of the worst experiences I have ever had traveling. To start with, the hotel looks nothing like their website. I found out I was not in the main building, but in another near the pool. I was fine with that, but when I went to the pool it was filthy! There were leaves in it and a beach towel! Won't eat at the hotel restaurant either, horrible reviews! My room was mediocre at best. For the price, not very impressive and I requested a single queen bedroom, not this extended stay one. But being that they put me in it, there's hardly any cookware or utensils to make a meal. Also, there's only 1 ice machine for the entire hotel, how stupid!Whoever owns this hotel is a cheap bum! The entire property looks run down and in disrepair. The GM is a bunch of laughs, this guy can't even dress or act professionally. Every time I saw him he was covered in dirt and filth and wearing a t-shirt. Apparently, he was helping with construction, even though apparently the hotel is owned by a local construction company, ridiculous! As if this all wasn't bad enough, I was overcharged for my 2-night stay. I was originally quoted $318 by Hotels.com. When I got there I was told that I'd only be charged $50 for " Incidentals", and then the remaining balance when I checked out. Yet 1 day into my stay, I'm charged for more than that. I was told it was refunded, but my bank told me they reversed it. When I brought it to the attention of the staff the next day, their useless, rude night audit manager wanted to argue with me, instead of trying to fix the problem....real great customer service....Upon check out, their useless GM tried to argue with me about the charges, saying "they'd disappear". Such a load...WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!

The pool was not available. "Part or our amenities is a pool. However it is not available for swimming" They advertise close to the beach, they just don't tell you the beach is a 12 minute car ride away and finally the room they assigned us what not cleaned. When I went to the front desk to notify them the manager went there to verify it. Finally there was a 50 surcharge for a pet they didn't advertise either. Avoid this place at all costs

Great stay! We had some odd issues and the front desk / maintenance were so super helpful - they went above and beyond. Will definitely be back!

Inexpensive...pictures look good, but it is an old hotel that's been renovated. Lobby area smells like air freshener way too much. Checked in and they said Wi-Fi was not working except in the lobby. Not workable for me as on business I can't realistically do TEAMs meetings in a lobby. Checked out the room anyway. Renovated but was still just kinda meh. Smellled overwhelmingly of mildew...which is bad for anyone with a breathing issue, so checked back out and am awaiting my card to be reversed that said would taken4/5 days. Why? You charged it and that took a second. Manager was nice about last minute refund for not staying, but for a person with asthma, that room is hazardous. No joke.

The rooms in building three are awful. They're way out of date and there is a bad smell in the room. The room is in building. One are updated much nicer. Luckily, I was able to change rooms to building one.

Worst stay ever. Do not get fooled by 3.5 star ratings or the pictures of the hotel rooms in the website. We booked for 2 nights Aug 19th and 20th through Hotwire.com which listed this so called hotel as 3.5 stars.We were given room 405 which was all the way in the back of the hotel. The room was in the 1st floor and smelled of cigarettes and also the microwave and refrigerator were not working. We asked for a change of room and got room 508 which was in the second floor of the same building. This room was filthier than the other one. The floor was so dirty and the toilet reeked of urine and was not cleaned at all. Attached is a pic of the toilet.The linens, bed sheets and towels wereBeware, this place will get your vacation spoiled. We decided to move to Holiday Inn in Kitty Hawk the next day even though it's pricey. But it is totally worth it. Do not waste your money in this place they call a hotel.

Love the renovation. Perfect pool with the best onsite restaurant I have had at a hotel in a long time. The rooms are super spacious and the staff was very helpful. Make sure to check out Firetender and the Weeping Radish Tap room during you stay it is right on property with a awesome patio for outdoor dining and beer tasting!

By far the absolute worst experience I've ever had, and I've stayed at a LOT of hotels. If you are considering this place, don't. You're better off sleeping in your car. The owner is a cheap, lying scumbag who was avoiding dealing with any issues. We booked a king bed for 3 nights to end our 2 week roadtrip and this place ruined the trip. First of all, this is a motel, not a hotel. Huge difference! When we went to check in, they gave us 2 queens instead of the king we purchased, we didn't even realize it at check in after the long drive until we got to our room. We had to drive to another building to get to our room, where the door opens to the outside since this is a motel, not a hotel as described in their name! Upon entering, it became immediately clear we couldn't stay due the horrible smell alone which gave my wife a headaches after just minutes. Then, the the whole room was filthy and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a very long time (finger prints all over, layers of dust on all surfaces, even obvious ones, food in the sink, brown stains and streaks on shower near the toilet, shower pan covered in all sorts of something I don't even know, shower walls not wiped down, pubic hair all over). Not to mention it looks nothing like the nice pics on the website. It is smaller, darker, and just overall crappier with shotty repairs that make it look very run down. This is nothing close to newly renovated or how the website makes it sound like an oasis lol. We went back to front desk and asked for a different room, they did give us a second room that had a king bed this time. Unfortunately, all the same problems as the first room with the filth and smell and who knows if sheets were even changed. Anyways, after 3 hours of battling this and working with booking agency, we decided to skip it due to poor quality and pay $1200+ to stay at a holiday inn on the banks if that tells you how bad it is. Manager said he would refund us no problem. When we got back home, was hard to get his contact info and he seemingly was never available and kept making excuses as to why he couldn't refund us saying he couldn't login to the system! 3 months and hours on phones later and they refused to refund us despite saying he would and the product was not at all as described. We even supplied pictures of the condition. This is borderline fraud and should be shutdown. Will be working with credit card company to process a chargeback claim for the full amount. Pay a little more and go anywhere else. DO NOT STAY HERE.

I was pleasantly surprised with our stay at Hotel Manteo! Room was bright and clean, exactly as pictures on the website. The main areas could have been a little cleaner, but the room was great! Very spacious. Employees were very friendly. Grateful to discover that they offered a grab and go breakfast each morning, as well! Definitely recommend!
