Norfolk business office (home) renovated into a 5/5 star quaint eatery. Owners, Ross and Susan, are friendly long-time locals who serve up creative fare that rotates weekly. Carry out or dine in at 1 of 5 tables available. Wife ordered biscuits and gravy; delicious (4/5 stars), heightened by choice of jalepeno cheddar biscuits and big overall portion for the cost. The jam was amazing even though I don't know what it was. Lol. My bulgogi grit bowl was a showstopper (5/5 stars); delectable dish with the perfect combo of flavor and brunch hunger satisfaction. Private parking is directly next to the entrance; on the other hand, private convo is a tad challenging in the small dining space. Thankfully, I'm an extrovert and enjoy great food, friendly service, and coveted convo with people, including the owners.

The HoneySuckle Cafe opened this past August in the North Colley (NOCO) neighborhood of Norfolk, tucked and hidden from view behind the 7-11 at the intersection of Colley Avenue and 39th Street. As soon as you turn onto 39th Street behind the 7-11, a large house comes into view on the left, directly across from the Stevens Roofing Company Building. This house is the site of the HoneySuckle Cafe.I was told that the house is 104 years old. Based upon what I read elsewhere, the owners, Susan and Ross Fetterly, spent three years building their kitchen. It shows through the love and passion they pour into their food.Their web site describes their cafe as primarily a "Carry Out Cafe." During my last visit, I also counted four tables and a total of 14 seats for their dine-in customers. There is also a small table for 2 out on their front porch. The vibe is warm and cozy, highlighted by the visual display of various paintings adorning their walls that are for sale. The owners and staff members are warm and friendly as well, making it a happy place.I have tried the following dishes to date:CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP: This was their Soup Du Jour offered during one entire week. This one was a delight and warmed my insides with its delicious homemade flavors. My Rating: 5 Stars.CHICKEN & MATZO BALL SOUP: This was their Soup Du Jour during another week and was another winner. The Matzo Ball was huge and exhibited a nice delicate texture. The chicken and its broth were divinely delicious. My Ratng: 5 Stars.JERK CHICKEN BURRITO: This was a jumbo-sized burrito that was cut in two, stuffed with Marinated and Grilled Chicken with Creamy Mac & Cheese and Brown Butter Sauteed Cabbage. This was a special addition and their Sando of The Week, which was not listed on their regular menu. The flavors came through beautifully, leaving me happy and stuffed. My Rating: 5 Stars.TURKEY CHORIZO BREAKFAST BURRITO: This was a special addition to their Brunch menu, consisting of House Made Turkey Chorizo, Sazon Hashbrowns, Folded Egg, Black Beans, Spring Mix, and Sofrito. This was another jumbo-sized burrito cut into two halves. The ingredients exploded with flavor and left me stuffed. I was only able to eat one of the halves and took the rest home for another meal. My Rating: 5 Stars.SALMON AVOCADO BAGEL: This is a regular listing from their Brunch menu, consisting of Smoked Salmon Lox, Avo Mash, Red Onion, Fried Caper, Tomato, Asian Collard Slaw, and Charred Chive Cream Cheese. This one delivered an awesome taste experience as the flavors of all of its different ingredients exploded like fireworks inside my mouth all at once. My Rating: 5 Stars.NOCO PASTRAMI: House Pastrami, Fresh Kraut, Deli Mustard, Baby Swiss, and Rye. This one is listed as one of their regular sandwiches and is one of the chef's favorite creations.Their pastrami is house-made and was tender and delicious. The Fresh Kraut and Rye Bread are made from a local caterer. This one lived up to its reputation for a stellar taste experience. My photo only shows one of its two halves. My Rating: 5 Stars. They also offer a special French Toast addition for their Brunch menu each week. I am kicking myself for missing their Ube French Toast during a recent weekend. I am drooling as I wait for its return and was told it will.Everything I have tried so far has earned a 5-star rating. Combined with the passion, hospitality, and friendly service from their owners and staff members, this review comes out to a slam dunk 5-star rating. I am eagerly looking forward to my future visits.

This place is such a hidden gem, located off Colley Ave. near ODU. Before walking in you know you're going to get hit with all the cozy vibes that instantly made you feel like home. There were a few tables to dine at and the place is decorated with lots of beautiful art (that is for sale) and plants. The owners, Ross and Susan, make you feel like you've known them forever. All of that is great - but the food is what is most important, and I will say - the food is what will make me come back again. We ordered the Turkey chorizo breakfast burrito, the bologna (which is homemade), egg and cheese sandwich, and the jalapeno cheddar biscuit that came with a homemade pepper jelly. The burrito was HUGE, the sandwich was the perfect size, and the biscuit was one of the biggest I've ever seen and all of it was OUTSTANDING. That jalapeno biscuit alone, I'd drive 100 miles for. They've been open for a few months now and are starting to gain the momentum they've earned. If you've heard about this place, please believe that the praise of deliciousness is well deserved. I cannot wait to go back to try more specials and hope to make it out to try a lunch sandwich soon.

Wow!! The food is amazing!! So much flavor and taste in a small restaurant. Also this place is super clean on the inside. Don't let the location fool you! This is one of the best brunch spots in Norfolk. The food was fresh. And the flavor is a 10/10. service was quick and friendly. The ambiance was welcoming and causal. It's worth the drive no matter where you are at in the Hampton Roads area.

Well worth the drive from Hampton. If it wasn't for that tunnel I'd go every day. Cute spot with lots of art and plants. Always friendly staff Ross the cook even comes out to see how the food is. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Locally owned and operated by life long lovers of Norfolk. Highly recommend

Honeysuckle Cafe looks unassuming from the outside, but be prepared to have your taste buds overwhelmed in the best way! Service is excellent for this very small mom & pop spot! The owners and chef are a couple and do their best to make sure everything they serve is above and beyond. Make sure you show up hungry, because the portions are massive. I ordered the biscuits and gravy-- absolutely incredible flavor. This dish was so heavy, it stuck to all my ribs in the best way. We also ordered the jalapeño cheddar biscuit sandwich, a damn delight on the tongue. The biscuit is the size of a softball & perfectly flavored. Every layer of this sandwich was perfection. The last dish we had was the sweet potato burrito & ohhhh baby! The chimichurri sauce is the stuff of dreams. Highly recommend to grab a meal here! I'll def be back!

Lovely and just amazing, Me and my hubby recently went here and just WOW! I mean I just LOVE the plants, And don't get me started on the food AMAZING I had the chili and I loved each and every bite, Even more my husband the Honeysuckle Chef Salad he said it was the BEST salad he has ever had even better than his mama's. but mainly I have to say is the staff service. everyone was so welcoming and I had a very joyful experience, and the ambiance was GORGEOUS. It all had this very rusted appeal and I'm here for it, and I will be telling all of my family and friends all about this.

My mom and I stopped here for lunch. It's an adorable little cafe in a historic house. I had the turkey pesto sandwich and she had the virginia press. They were both delicious and fresh! The service was quick, and very friendly. They have a lot of great menu options. Will definitely be back!

We ordered our food to take with us to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens for a picnic since there isn't a lot of room inside for eating in (it is advertised as a carry-out cafe). The food is delicious!! I'm a Vegetarian so when I go out with my meat eating family, I can usually only eat a side salad or something... I was very happy to see that she had quite a few vegetarian options! I will also say that we were not expecting the servings to be so big, I will be snacking on my Chickpea Salad for the next week and I'm going to be nursing the HOME MADE DRESSINGs for as long as possible! My family had the Pastrami Hash- they must make it themselves because it was too good to be store bought. I Love the quaint atmosphere, friendly owners, the local artwork on the walls (for sale) and the little porch with lots of plants. I will definitely be a frequent flyer here!

I saw that this cafe recently opened and decided to stop in with my grandfather for lunch. It's a cute little cafe converted from a house and the food is absolutely delicious. The staff is kind and welcoming and it doesn't stop at the front of house. During our lunch, the chef even came out to ask how our lunch was!Locally sourced veggies, house made meats, we'll definitely be coming back soon!
