A Sweet Escape: Hooch in Honey Hits the Perfect NoteNestled in the heart of a cute shop g plaza, Hooch in Honey feels like stepping into an eclectic, Brooklyn cocktail bar. The bartenders are just as entreating as the ambiance. The science and vibe is makes you want to come back for a girls night out or romantic date. The drink menu caters to everyone, including those looking for non-alcoholic options. The Lavender Mocktail is a fragrant delight, blending floral notes with a light citrus zing--it's as refreshing as it is beautiful. But the real standout was the Earl Grey Mocktail from the daily specials menu. It had a delicate balance of bergamot, honey, and fizz, offering a sophisticated twist on a classic tea experience. Each dish felt like it was crafted with care. The Calamari was perfectly crispy, with a hint of spice and paired with a tangy dipping sauce that elevated it. The Goat Cheese Dip was creamy, indulgent, and served with warm, toasted bread--a comforting dish that's perfect for sharing. For mains, the Lamb Lollipops were an absolute showstopper--tender, juicy, and coated in a subtly sweet honey glaze that complemented the rich flavor of the lamb. The Sliders were another hit, featuring perfectly seasoned patties, melty cheese, and a hint of honey-infused aioli, all sandwiched between pillowy buns. The service was top-notch. Our server, Mia, was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the menu. She took the time to explain the specials and even suggested pairing the Earl Grey Mocktail with the lamb lollipops--a perfect match.Whether you're here for date night, catching up with friends, or just treating yourself, the vibe is versatile and welcoming. On weekends, live acoustic music fills the space, elevating the experience without overpowering conversation.Don't leave without checking out their charming corner shop featuring jars of locally sourced honey, beeswax candles, and cocktail recipe kits. It's a lovely way to take a bit of Hooch in Honey home with you.Final Verdict: Hooch in Honey is more than a bar; it's an experience that lingers long after you've left. With its thoughtful menu, warm service, and locally driven ethos, it's a place that deserves to be on everyone's radar.Pro Tip: Make a reservation if you're coming during peak hours, as seating fills up quickly. Also, keep an eye out for their rotating mocktail specials--they're worth the visit alone!

This restaurant is in the corner of a shopping center in Chesapeake. I'm sure if you don't know it's back there you wouldn't know it was there. When I walked up, someone came to open the door for me. The door is super dark so you can barely see on the other side of it, but they can see you.I had already made a reservation so thankfully, once i arrived we were seated immediately. The restaurant is pretty dim. I'm not sure if we were sitting near the speaker or not, but the music was a little loud i could barely hear myself think lol. The restaurant itself is very cute though. Once seated, the waiter immediately came to ask for drinks. They have a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, and wine. I enjoy the tapas style restaurants, as I don't have to only get one meal and can try different things. We got the Brussel sprouts, calamari, oyster Rockefeller, and salmon cakes. Unfortunately, the only picture i got was the salmon cakes (sorry, was hungry) lol. The calamari came with a very interesting dipping sauce; but it was good! The Brussels were mostly skin/the outside instead of full Brussels so I would be sort of iffy getting those again, but they were still tasty. I have no complaints on the food and our waiter was amazing.

Went on a date night for the fist time in a while. Ended up here and man what a cool vibe . Fantastic food and drinks . I usually don't drink cocktails just bourbon/scotch straight or with a cube. The bartender with Stache made me his own concoction and it was sour , so good and refreshing. My wife hates bourbon /whiskey, says it all smells and tastes like rocket fuel. She said it was delicious as well.Anyways . I will be coming back. Definitely going to try to come here once a month . Oh the dessert is so good. I heard it's a daughter from someone who works there/or the owner she's like 19.... It was really off the charts . Can't highly recommend. This place was "off the hook"

This is a great date night spot or if you're looking for dark ambiance. I'm not a huge fan of lamb and we ended up getting two orders because it was so delicious. I recommend the Burrell sprouts and the goat cheese small plates too. You cannot go wrong. Our serve took great care of us and was super accommodating.

Upon arrival, a young man greeted us at the door. We dined at the bar. Shane greeted us and took our orders. The oyster Rockefeller was delicious and the ribeye was flavorful! The men that worked the bar were friendly and hospitable.I would recommend making reservations because the dining space is nice but small.Cons: The prices are steep for the portions. The finished appetizer plates were not cleared off the bar before other plates were brought. We had to ask for water refills twice.

Let me start by saying, all and all, my experience was excellent. The only reason this restaurant is rated a four stars and not five is... 1. We arrived at 4:00; in time for the "Social Hour," which runs through 6:00 pm. There is a 50% discount on ALL menu items, but you have to sit at the bar. The three of us attempted to, at the edge of the bar where we would all be able to converse and see each other. We were told that, that particular section was "reserved." How are Bar seats "reserved?"2. I asked, given those seats were "reserved," that we be allowed to sit at a table, and the "Social Hour" prices be honored. The Manager agreed, and said that we could be seated in the back, on the other side of a curtain. Huh? What? He must have deciphered the look of bewilderment on my facial expression, because he immediately said we could sit directly across from the bar. 3. When the check arrived, the discount had not been applied. It's a good thing I actually looked for, and noticed it. The waitress had no idea. The Bartender (Cheyne), corrected the bill.Ordinarily, "three strikes, and you're out." In this case, because of "Cheyne" (pronounced "Shane"), the ambiance, and the food, four stars are still given.I don't want to say that this happened because I am NOT a "Pilgrim." I did however observe that ALL the other "Pilgrims" were seated up front. The only other non-pilgrims - other than my party - were seated at the table we would have been seated, had not my "non-verbal" expression not occurred. I will patronize again. Ideally they'll position all staff to be equitable, and inclusive. This will be a stretch though, given it's Chesapeake.Again, the food, ambiance, and our server were exceptional, as was "Cheyne."

Honey and Hooch is a hidden gem and I'm glad we found it. While they do offer entree sized dishes, they're niche is small plates and they do them very well. The ambience is romantic and date-friendly (leave the kids at home) and the service is top notch. Our waitress was flirty with my husband, to the point that he said something... not me, but I mean, he's pretty handsome, so... I get it, but that would be the one complaint if I had to complain at all.

For date nights-fellas, look no further. Such a nice ambiance perfect for a special occasion. The drinks were absolutely delicious. One surprising thing that made this spot stand out is just how quickly we got our drinks and our food. Above all-the food was super flavorful and had us talking about how good it was after dinner. We got the cheesecake flight as a dessert to end the night. We'll be back again for another date night.
