I was staying in Downtown Suffolk overnight with my best friend for a wedding and we decided to pop into Holland's for a quick brunch before heading home. Walking in we were really digging the rustic, yet modern décor.After looking over the menu I decided on ordering "The Hangover Burger" topped with country ham, bacon, fried egg, jalepeño, chili, and pimento cheese. It was so good. Admittedly, I would've preferred the beef patty to have a little more seasoning; however, the flavor profile of the chili mixed with the pimento cheese on top of the burger was FIRE and gave it plenty of flavor. I was also a big fan of the battered fries that came on the side; furthermore, I loved the fact that they serve their sides of ranch (and I assume other sauces) in metal 1/4 measuring cups and that soft drinks come in mason jars. Little cutesy touches like that always make dining out that much more enjoyable. Our waitress Amanda was very nice and accommodating and checked on us regularly throughout our meal with a positive attitude. Overall, Holland's serves up delicious food with a homey feel and my friend and I had quite a pleasant experience.

Haven't been to Holland in a while decided to give it a shot. It's a walk up counter to order and get a number and pick a table. Ordered the prime rib sandwich (medium) with onion rings. Found a table sat down, waited for our food. The chef came out of the kitchen and yelled out. Do I lettuce and tomatoes on that prime rib sandwich, which I said no. When the food was brought out the chef placed it on the table and walked away. Decided to cut the sandwich in half only to discover it was extremely rare, kinda on the raw side. Not once did anybody come over to follow up on our food, though they stood at a table talking to someone who I believe was maybe a family member. after waiting 20 minutes I had to physically take the sandwich up to the bar and send it back to the kitchen. I never send food back but this was gonna make me sick eating raw meat. So they offered me something else or a dessert which I declined it just didn't seem like they cared. No offer of a refund, and no apology as I exited the premises. Again, again, still standing at the table conversing with a couple. Will I return? Questionable.

I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, it was really good and lightly fried. Service was ok. The lady at the front taking orders was really nice and the lady that delivered our food to our table was nice. Ambiance gave a small town feel. Overall it was a nice experience.

Ate here recently after having folks recommend it to us. My wife and I both had cheeseburgers with fries for lunch. The food was good and flavorful. The setup is a bit unique. You come in, grab a menu, and order while standing at the counter. This seems to be the new way a lot of restaurants are leaning, but I don't care for it. You're expected to make a quick decision (in some cases) on a food choice and this isn't a drive thru! Anyway, the burgers were good, but I'd rather see crinkle cut fries. We will be back, as the menu looks good. Give it a try if in the area...

I visited Hollands on my way out of Suffolk. The vibe of the place is homey and comfortable. It was the Saturday of Easter weekend and they were doing lots of catering orders to-go. I didn't feel like anyone behind the counter was especially excited about taking my order. It was 10:45 am so I asked if it was too early to get a hot dog and I got a head shake, "no." So I ordered a hot dog and fries. The person at the registers went through a number a toppings and had me answer "yes/no" to each. I ended up with a chili cheese hot dog with mustard. The order came quickly. Two things struck me right away. The chili cheese dog was served with mustard packets on the side and the fries looked terribly undercooked. They didn't have any color on them and, when you picked one up, it immediately flopped over instead of holding its shape. The hot dog was good. I always appreciate a toasted bun. I do wish they had put the mustard on instead of giving me the packets. The fries got eaten after some generous reasoning.Overall my experience was ok. It seemed like regulars there and folks picking up catering got lots of love/attention that I definitely didn't receive.

We actually found this place by accident. I'm glad we did. This is a small, cozy restaurant. The ladies at the counter were very nice. I got the 2 meat club and my friend got catfish and potato salad. My meal was very good. The bacon was especially good. My friend enjoyed his catfish also. The star of the meal was the potato salad. Not everyone can make a good potato salad. This is was sooooo good. Had I not been traveling all day, I would've gotten some to go! They also had several cakes and pies. The chocolate cake looked delicious. I'll make sure to try that next time. Whenever I'm back in the area, I'm definitely going to come back!!

This was a nice little spot to stop at for a mid morning breakfast. It's very rustic and homey and they had Emerill playing on one of the TVs non stop which I loved. I was a bit confused at first on how to order, but the cashier was super nice and explained to me how things work. All of the girls working were very sweet and helpful. The turkey bacon was delicious, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The pancakes were lovely with a nice hint of spice to them (cinnamon I think). I'll be back to try lunch another time.

This place is a hidden gem in downtown! The staff was super friendly, and the restaurant was very clean. The prices are really good as well. The chicken sandwich was a bit tough to be honest but the breading was really good, and the fries were delicious. The only other knock was they don't make their own ranch! It was just packaged ranch. When you walk in you go to the register and order / pay before you get your food, then they deliver it to your table this took a sec for me to get but makes sense in retrospect. Overall highly recommend you check this place out if you're in downtown!

A great place to get home-cooking!! My favorite day to visit is Thursday when the special is the baked chicken with dressing...yummy! The chicken is falling off the bone. You get two sides, a roll, and cake...those cakes! I liked the yams; cabbage was alright. Holland's is full of desserts so leave room to try one. The staff is very friendly and pleasant.
