Ngl, I thought this place was going to be a Harry Potter them thing and while I love theme places, I have to be in the mood for it. This wasn't that.Southern comfort food, BBQ, and Sunday brunch. We came here the day after a funeral with my uncle before he left the state on a Sunday and I'm so glad since the brunch menu is Sunday only.We were greeted by the hostess weathering a comical shirt proclaiming "I got a Big Boner at the hogshead cafe" referencing the Big Boner hot dog (which sounds HUGE with so many toppings I can't remember them all but include ribs).No one expected the size of our meals at all. My brother was the only one to finish his whole meal, though I'm not entirely sure how he got his mouth around the dang thing. My eggs were amazing and the blackened shrimp typing was awesome! Will definitely be coming back, but they do get full fast on Sunday mornings

I've seen Hogs Head Cafe sign from broad street a million times in my life but never stopped. While down the Tik Toc rabbit hole, I saw the most delicious food posted. So the next day my daughter and I went to pick up dinner! On a Tuesday night customers were pretty steady. The host was also taking to go orders, payment and filling those orders. Although busy and a little overwhelmed she did everything with a smile and was super polite. The menus are available at the host stand to view. But there is also like a secret menu posted on the chalk board next to the bar. There were lots of goodies on there that wasn't on the main menu. Like crab pretzels, blackberry and peach cobbler. Since it was our first time there, we wanted to keep it simple and ordered our food to go. We had the limeades that are made fresh in house; 6 Garlic Parmesan Smoked Wings; Mac and cheese and Blackberry Cobbler. The food was so hot and fresh the bag was hot and steamy on the way home. The smell was Devine the whole car ride home. I was a little curious why 6 wings were 16 bucks and to my surprise when I opened the box, these are 6 WHOLE WINGS! Not your little wing dings. 6 whole fresh wings that were as big as the palm of my hand. The wings were so fresh, seasoned to perfection. My daughter's Mac and cheese was super creamy and full of cheddar. The blackberry cobbler made me go back the next day and pick up two so I wouldn't have to share with my daughter this time. Overall this was a great meal and the customer service both times was above average. I will be stopping by again this weekend when my son comes home from college for spring break for a full sit down experience. You should come too!

Tuesday 2/18 3pmHad a taste for some wings and per a recommendation I decided to try Hogshead on Broad Street. Luckily for us they have happy hour starting at three and that included half off the wings, really good deal! They had half off of all the starters/appetizers. I ordered garlic parmesan wings and received BBQ. I sent those back for a correction. But took a picture anyway lol. My friend ordered flavor "sticky stinger" wings, those are the ones with the sprinkles. My garlic parmesan wings came I thought they would be a dry rub but it's wet. I don't eat spicy so that's why I chose this flavor. We also ordered plain tater tots. They were just that, plain tater tots. My garlic parmesan wings were good. I like that they were whole wings. I would eat there again.My friend said that the sticky stinger flavor wings were good and a little spicy, but that's what she wanted. She got a large strawberry limeade that she really liked a lot. She also got a lemon drop martini. She said that was good. The restaurant is a family friendly restaurant, but it does have a bar. The service we received was OK. No complaints.

For starters, we tried the catfish filets & hushpuppies. I'm always down to try out a restaurant's catfish if offered! For my main, I went with the philly sandwich & sweet potato fries. I saw numerous tables with their wings, so we'll have to check those out next time. I'd also recommend their lemonades & limeades. Their portions are generous, so be prepared to carry a doggie bag home!

This restaurant always has so many options! They have menu specials written on the board and also posted on their facebook page. This visit I tried the appetizer wings which were large and moist. I would definitely recommend. I also tried the pulled chicken. I thought the chicken was a little dry so I will stick to the pork but it was still full of smoky flavor. I usually get sweet potato fries with maple dipping sauce which is my favorite side here! The dipping sauce really heightens the flavor! The coleslaw was good as well. They have the best limeade in Richmond and I get it every time. Also, the house bbq sauce goes with everything because it's delicious! Highly recommend the restaurant!

First time here and was very happy with the experience. A nice-looking place with plenty of shopping center-like parking. As for what we ate this evening. The wifey had the CHICKEN CORDON HOG, grilled, pulled chicken breast, ham, Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato & Dijon mustard sauce. The picture does not do it justice. I was a very large sandwich, filled with meats. Unlike some places that make sandwiches that look big, but it might as well be a salad because being stuffed with lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes. The sandwich and the potato salad filled her. As for me, I had the HOG SAMPLER, with ribs, pulled pork, fries, and mac and cheese. Again the picture doesn't detail the size of this meal. I'm a fella with a big appetite but this thing pushed me to the edge. I ended up leaving a few fries and maybe two bites of the ribs. That how large try portions were. It was very good. Both meats were not dry and had a nice flavor. However, the table had several different sauces available, if you want to spice it even more. The wifey and I also shares a thing of hush puppies. Now what I also must mention was we were here with a group of maybe 18. We all came in at different times and ordered food and drinks at different times. With that said - our server did great! I really wish I could remember her name. She was friendly and kept us all going with refills and routinely checked on us for our (get this) 4-hour stay. As for our group. We intentionally came here to see a live music performance of a friend. Which was very fun, since its been years since many of us seen each other. I'm not sure how often the restaurant does live music, but it made for an extra kinda evening, even if we weren't here to see a friend perform. I must give a shout-out to the kitchen staff, because they also did great getting all the sides and meals out so quickly. So in review. The wifey, me and the whole group really enjoyed all The Hogshead provided. I highly suggest you consider visiting.

We stopped by around 1 pm on a Tuesday. When we arrived, there was only one other table occupied, so we were seated immediately seated, which was awesome.A very friendly gentleman took our drink orders and brought them back a few minutes later, then took our order. Unfortunately, that was the last time we interacted with him. For the entire rest of the time there, he was standing behind the bar, presumably taking phone orders. Which is all well and good, I'm happy they have a designated person to do that, but it would be nice if that person weren't already waiting tables. We had to flag down someone else to get a refill of my long-consumed drink, my friend never got a refill of her soda, we had to flag someone down to request our check... It actually got kind of annoying, because the person we kept flagging down was mostly just standing there. The food was darn good, the homemade pork rinds are AMAZING. They are well seasoned and come with maybe ranch and a chipotle sauce. My friend ordered a Caesar salad as one of her sides and the dressing was awesome. I ordered the appetizer nachos, and they were HUGE and delicious.The pricing here is a little random and some of it seems really overpriced. One of my friends got an iced tea and it was $8. I asked for some salsa for the pulled pork nachos ($15 and a GREAT price) since they offered Frank's, Louisiana, or Texas Pete hot sauce and I'm not a fan of those, and it is $2 for a shot glass of salsa.We will be back, because the food is really good and they have some really nice options, but will definitely reconsider our expectations when it comes to how much we are going to pay and whether or not we get refills.

We were in Richmond for the South Atlantic Championships volleyball tournament. We had a party of 24. The restaurant didn't take reservations but they let us call ahead. When we got there, two big tables were already set up upstairs. The ambiance was nice and quiet. We had the whole upstairs to ourselves. Their patio is beautiful with plants and a little water fountain. The service was wonderful. Our waiter, Cooper, was super attentive and friendly. We really appreciated he allowed each family to have separate checks. The food was amazing. They are famous for their BBQ but their tacos were excellent. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. We highly recommend the Hogshead Cafe and will definitely come back if we are in the area again.
