I don't have enough good things to say about this place!! I flew from Texas as a bridesmaids in one of my good friends weddings. I have never seen a venue like this in my life. It was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! First off it's HUGE, and second off, they used every inch of it to make it a unique stunning wedding venue.I was so blown away the first time I saw it I swear to you I about cried. The staff. THE. STAFF. YALL. OH MY WORD!!! Like nothing I have ever witnessed in my life. When we left hair and make up to start that way, the bride (and us) were so stressed I literally thought I was going to vomit. But the minute we walked in we hear more "how can I help you" 's than you could ever imagine. WE DIDN'T EVEN DO A REHEARSAL, but the staff was so calm and amazing at telling us what to do, we didn't need one. The staff worked around the clock at this wedding. I have NEVER been so impressed by employees in my life! All around just an incredible venue!!! It made me want to move to Virginia!!

Watched a good friend get married at this venue and it was absolutely amazing. The staff was super attentive and the facilities were top notch! There were a LOT of people there but thus venue is so large it never felt claustrophobic. It was a great experience and a beautiful wedding!!

I have been a professional wedding planner for several years now, and Mankin Mansion is by far one of the best venues I have had the pleasure to work with. I selected them as the venue for my own wedding because it is gorgeous, offers tremendous value, and has an incredible staff. All of our guests still tell me how beautiful it was! Martin and Gillian were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. The overnight cottages for our guests were an incredible edition and really let guests enjoy the night to the fullest. The luxury getaway car was a great touch. Martin's son was our driver and he was delightful. It was the best wedding that I could have possibly planned because the team at Mankin Mansion are true industry professionals!

Absolutely Gorgeous Venue!! My husband and I got married here 8/25/18 and everything was perfect! Katie, Madison, and their team was flawless! They were prompt, attentive, kind, and very knowledgeable! My Bridesmaids and I got ready in the Carriage House while my husband and his groomsmen got ready in the Game Room! Both rooms were spacious filled with beverages and snacks for our bridal party, which was a very nice touch! Our bridal party and guest still rave how amazing the Historic Mankin Mansion Staff and grounds were! The Historic Mankin Mansion grounds are Magical, Romantic, Elegant, and simply breathtaking!!! I would recommend this Venue to Everyone!! My First choice over the numerous venues my husband, parents, Bridesmaids and I toured!!

Who cares that this place is surrounded by sketchy neighborhoods and strip malls... it's hidden extremely well in it's own little paradise.I've catered here many, many, far too many, times but this was the first time I was on the partying end of a wedding and it was truly amazing. We showed up at 2pm to get ready for pictures and they gave the grooms the game room. This is the coolest, brodeo palace ever. Darts, foosball, pool, minihoops, poker room, pillow/tv room, cold air conditioning, comfortable couches, popcorn machine, mini fridge, and more. It was hard not getting shwasted before the wedding even started. The grounds are extremely well kept and the staff was in full force just prior to the wedding, smoking out bees and making the final touches. They also allow you to choose your own caterer and bar service so when I helped my friends plan it made everything much easier than other venues that have exclusive (often not good) caterers. Everyone should check this place out.

The property is the quintessential colonial Virginian period design which is set in a backdrop of rolling hills and forest. The bridal and groom suites are small separate cottages furnished appropriately for the time period and within a couple steps from each other. The actual wedding reception was held under a large tent structure just steps away from the B&B and the suites, which was very convenient for the wedding party and their guests. We were here for a wedding in July, which was perhaps the hottest weekend of the summer in Virginia at a sweltering 105 degrees. Under these exceptional circumstances, the wedding ceremony and reception were performed flawlessly by the staff at the Historic Mankin Mansion. There was a continuum of cool beverages made available before the wedding which was much appreciated. In addition, to the patience and attentive care the staff took for the wedding party and guests, the genuine hospitality of the staff was noticeable from other venues visited. The cuisine for the wedding was different from the norm generally served for a large wedding reception. If I had to guess it may have been Paleo which would mean they accommodate to the unique requests of the bride. I do not remember there being any carbs such as rolls on the table or rice as a side item so again I am making an assumption on the Paleo. All I recall is the need for carbs to absorb the alcohol throughout the wedding reception. While the dishes were made of fresh local vegetables and were beautiful in presentation, the dish was somewhat flat and left some room for improvement in terms of savoriness. Overall, it was the least memorable portion of the reception, but no worries because there were definitely more memorable moments to be had by all there that evening. If you are one that fancy the grandeur of a colonial style ambiance and southern style hospitality this is a great place to consider. It is 15 minutes from downtown Richmond and a beautiful drive along the way. Just be sure to consider the time of the year for your event. Virginia summers are no joke!

I had the most perfect, beautiful fairytale wedding here last Sunday. This is the best wedding venue in Richmond, bar none. Our wedding day could not have gone more smoothly. Everything was on time, organized, and the most professional. The value of what you get for what you pay here is insane. Choose to get married on a Friday or Sunday to save a couple grand (that's what we did!). I've heard that they may have changed some things after I signed on, but a major perk for us was that we could choose our own vendors with the exception of the DJ, which came with the venue. I admit, I wasn't crazy about that because music is a huge part of the day to entrust in someone that you didn't pick out, but we ended up with Eric Cunningham with Debonaire Entertainment so we lucked out. The venue is insanely immaculate and beautiful. It's tucked away behind an unassuming neighborhood. You would never ever even know it's there. As soon as you walk on the grounds, you're immediately transported out of Richmond and into some far off fairytale land. These folks are beyond professional and have everything down to a science. We had a great experience working with them throughout our 10 month planning process. What you get with your contract: - Day of coordinator/planner (Please note that these are not full service planning services. You will still be doing a lot on your own! But having someone to help you along and on the day of is invaluable)- Gorgeous outdoor ceremony space- Beautiful indoor ceremony space in the case of rain. DO NOT fret if it rains on your wedding day, this indoor space is so dreamy! - Reception underneath a tent that can be heated or cooled- Valet services for guests- Groom/groomsmen get access to an awesome game room/dressing room- Bride/Bridesmaids have access to a beautiful bridal suite complete with bathroom and shower- Refreshments for the bridal party after the ceremony- A long list of complimentary accessories to choose from (things like brandy snifters, votive candles, chalk boards, unity candle stand, etc). - A long list of accessories that you can pay them for (extra hours added to the day, staying on the property overnight, being escorted in one of their jaguars, purchasing candles straight from them, tablecloths, etc) They can supply the alcohol or they give you the option of supplying your own, which we did. That option alone saved us thousands of dollars! For our vendors, we chose Champagne Taste Catering, Flowers By Mona Ray, Richmond Photobooth, Mike Topham Photography, and CY Wedding Films (separate reviews of each coming soon!). We started with one planner, Kate, and then switched to another, Katie, halfway through the process because Kate took another job. This transition happened with very minimal bumps in the road. Thanks to the staff at Mankin, our wedding day was easily the best day of both of our lives. I can't wait to relive it all when I get the photos and videos back soon!

Gay friendly. People friendly. Relaxation friendly. My partner and I stayed valentines day weekend and were treated like we were any ol' couple. Candies, wine, recommendations, recognition of our coupled-om with out any awkwardness: it was great. I asked for the most romantic room and was happily surprised by how romantic it was. The decor is beautiful, yet comfy. The beds large and inviting. The bathrooms updated and warm. Free bottle of (very drinkable) wine in your room; great breakfast every morning, accompanied by lighthearted and non-obtrusive chit-chat from the staff. Richmond also offers great dining options. The B and B recommends Pescaods, we agree. Also tried Edo's Squid and were very, very pleased. Go if you're straight, go if you're gay. Just go.

Mankin Mansion is an elegant resort/B&B that's tucked in the East End. When I went, I followed mapquest directions, not the place's directions and went through a kind of blah neighborhood, down a road, and then I appeared at this beautiful property. Kind of crazy that it's placed where it is.Although you can stay at Historic Mankin Mansion for a romantic weekend away, this place's main gig is weddings. Usually the couple rents out the whole grounds for the weekend (which is why it doesn't function as a B&B as much), and they'll get the all the cottages and suites for the wedding party to stay in. A one-day or evening package is also available, though. It's a really beautiful, historic property with great areas to set up different parts of the event depending on your style and the time of year. Because it's a historic property, there's also lots of cool spots for taking stylish portraits. The owners are very friendly and eager to help make any event great. They bought the mansion and surrounding property, which was rundown, and painstakingly restored it to its original glory.

My son got married here October 2017 and they are the most professional and organized wedding venue ever! The day could not have been better. If I didn't know better I would think the had control of the weather. (lol) The grounds are beautiful and everything went smoothly and on time. Take the time to visit this awesome place if you are looking for a venue for your wedding.
