Played the course this week. The greens are average, fairways were alright but, the guy that looks like Ned Flanders brother in the pro shop is a complete ass. Customer service skills were trash. Definitely better courses to play around here with better customer service.

Played Heron Ridge yesterday. Used to be the nicest course in the area. Now it's in the worst condition I've ever seen it. The 1st Tee course is in better shape. I know it's early spring so I'll give it a month or so to get better, but I'll be playing somewhere else until then.

A tough course. Far from the best course you'll find in the Hampton Roads area, but course is kept up well and it's challenging. Hard to ask for much more than that.

Would definitely rate this over battlefield golf club. Very reasonably priced, solid carts, nice driving range/practice area. Course grounds regularly seem well groomed and taken care of. Pro shop is well stocked and they have a nice little food area connected in the main club house. It is surrounded by homes so that's to be considered if you have a wicked slice. It's a decent course even for those with potentially not as much golfing experience and looking to get into the sport or just take on a new hobby. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it during the week as the many times I've gone during the week, it hasn't been packed and we've been able to play at a leisurely pace.

I paid 50$ for two people with the cart included so not a bad price at all. The course was very well maintained and overall very pretty. The guy in the pro shop was very nice and helpful. I scheduled online and showed up about 15 minutes early. We were in our cart and on the course before our tee time. The only issue I had was the marshal who was rushing us. We are both new players, but we weren't taking long enough to be rushed. The group behind us never even caught up to us or had to wait on us. I didn't like that at all. Other than that, a nice place and will likely go back again.

Scheduling: We scheduled a tee time at 7 from the website. It gets busy in the morning and fills up fast. The only problem we had was with check in. Their online scheduling doesn't always work and their system double books. We were double booked with another group, but because we were there early they let us go ahead. Overall: A nice course and at times challenging for a beginner. It is always busy though and the rule of thumb is to only take 15 minutes per hole. If you are just learning, this can be a challenge. There is a Marshall that drives the course to let you know when you need to speed up - believe me they will tell you when you are taking too long on a hole.Note: If you are military there is a discount, but you can't have the discount online. You have to either call and schedule or schedule a time at the club house.

Great course for the price, a lot of variety, fairways are cut well and rough is still nice to hit out of. People there seemed pretty nice, was alittle busy though. Pro shop seemed good and stocked. Would definitely play again!

This is one of my favorite courses in the area. It isn't cheap to play, but they put that money back into the course. The restaurant area lacks. It needs a huge improvement. Some of these places might want to start catering to an actual restaurant. If this area was improved it would deserve a 4 star, but until it is I can only give it a 3.

Good morning GlenIt is unfortunate but I have to write to you to make a formal complaint against the assistant pro at Heron Ridge who I believe is Carl. My friends and I had originally booked a 4 ball today with one subsequently dropping out. When I booked in, the other two had already picked up their carts. I explained to him that I would need my own cart due to the COVID implications and he flatly refused. He told me in no uncertain terms that I would have to share or walk. My playing partners are not family and I see them only once a week. Both are older gentleman and have doctors letters explaining they need to adhere to social distancing guidelines. My father died from COVID in March, so you will understand my situation. His attitude was totally unacceptable. He displayed unnecessary arrogance and was totally unsympathetic. At one point he was about to lecture me regarding the phase 3 guidelines but stopped when I told him I knew what they covered and top of the list is maintaining social distancing.Additionally, we all use Golf Tee Time Pass that clearly states the price is for a round of golf and a cart. It does not state that you have to share.I did not want to let the situation escalate and offered to pay for a cart several times but he flatly refused telling me I either had to walk or share because he didn't have enough carts. This is nonsense given how many carts were available outside and in the garage. To add insult, he literally went on to the first tee and in front of everyone around, told my friends unless they shared, they could not play. I am sure you will agree that this is not an acceptable way of dealing with a situation. They had no other choice other than to unload their carts and return to the pro shop for a refund. Just outrageous. I have never experienced such an unnecessary attitude from a 'pro' in all my years playing golf around the world and he does nothing positive in the way he represents you and your golf course. He was not wearing either a mask or shoes and socks for goodness sake. We have all enjoyed playing golf at Heron Ridge on many occasions, but I'm sure you will understand that we all agree that the way this guy handled the situation was totally unacceptable and ruined our day completely.
