I've been looking forward to strawberry picking at Henley for my birthday for a few weeks now during the pandemic and movement restrictions that are in place. They update their facebook page daily due to weather and strawberry conditions so it's easy to keep an eye out before you make the drive. It's buried deep in Pungo off a charming road and a beautiful leisurely drive through the countryside. We easily found it, pulled in, and weighed our baskets and were sent off to one of the fields to pick. They had 2-3 open at the time with several rows to choose from and plenty of parking. It was muddy, which I knew from their warning to wear the proper shoes and clothes, but we managed to find a few rows and found tons of available strawberries. I was worried about there not being enough for everyone but that was not a problem - we quickly picked about 7 pounds of beautifully ripe red berries and headed back to the main station to weigh them. We stood in a socially distanced line where I browsed their veggie plants (for making your own home garden) and their beautiful potted flowers. They have some friendly wildlife here as well you can interact with as the goats were happy to come to the fence and be seen. Great experience - I now have two jars of fresh strawberry jam and tons of frozen strawberries for smoothies! This may be a new tradition.

The world right now is weird. Most things feel put on hold or have been cancelled. I'm so thankful that a few traditions are able to continue in this socially distanced world. Strawberry picking in Pungo is an annual tradition for so many people across Hampton Roads. We may not have the festival this year and there isn't as much fanfare around the activity, but the farms are still open!We visited a week and a half ago on a beautiful Saturday morning. When we pulled on the property an employee gave us the rundown on their social distancing procedures and pointed us in the right direction to get started. They have two different types of strawberries, one type are the ones better for jams, and then the other type are good for snacking. Sorry, I don't remember the name of each type. If you brought your own bucket you need to get that weighed before entering the field. They have signs everywhere to remind you of tehir social distancing guidelines. The staff and most customers were wearing masks in the market area. Out in the field few were wearing masks, but everyone seemed to be pretty good about keeping their distance from each other. Most importantly, the strawberries were FANTASTIC! We ate most of ours as a snack, but made a puree from them too. It was a great mental distraction from everything happening in the world and a fun way to enjoy a beautiful day!

Local family owned/operated farm in Pungo (VB); "grown" on us since 2012 as our go-to spot for picking strawberries, cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce, and blackberries. 45 min drive from home but made worthwhile by interacting with the owner/farmer, bringing our own buckets, spending time outdoors with our entire family selecting any/all produce items that spark joy in our eyes (and stomachs). Today's mission? Snagging strawberries. On property, headed to the main register (right-most building from street view) to weigh baskets/containers, then drove to the fields. Appropriate signage reminding patrons to social distance. Field paths were a tad muddy but we planned ahead, wearing older clothes/shoes. There were at least 50-60 lines of strawberries, each extending 40+ feet long. This made for a COVID Phase 1 friendly experience with other patrons. Plenty of space to move and not encroach on others. Once our pails were full, headed back to checkout; super easy to pay our $20 bill by credit card ($2.59/lb). Employees were friendly and knowledgeable. Still plenty of produce available.Though I didn't snap many today, the entire place is a perfect rustic photo-op! Best memory of previous visits was taking a family photo with the farmer in front of a weathered barn, directly next to his giant tractor.

We have going to this farm since the late 70's. I have the best time when I go there. The fresh vegetables picked straight from their fields reminds me of eating out of my mother's garden. I have many fond memories picking with my mother. Today I picked strawberries and picked up romaine lettuce and elephant garlic!

I honestly wouldn't even be able to tell you how to get here, but just put their address in your gps and hope that you get good signal while on your way! When you first pull up to the main stand/small barn-like building, you let them know that you are there to pick strawberries, and if you brought your own container, they'll weigh it and put the weight on a sticker, which goes on your bowl/bucket, so they know what amount to deduct once you fill it up. We were directed to drive to a particular part of the farm; we just followed a path. You get there, see strawberries galore and just have at it!!!We've been strawberry picking at Henley a few times now, and I learned something new this year. THE BEST TIME TO GO STRAWBERRY PICKING IS IN MAY!!! Not June, not July, not around Strawberry festival time, but May! I was so excited to pick so many bright red, juicy, and sweet berries this time around.Between my fiancé & I, we picked almost 11 lbs of these magically delicious fruit! The pricing isn't THAT much cheaper than what you'd find at a grocery store (I thought they would be,) but the perk of course, is that you literally hand picked every single one.It makes for a fun family event, day date, group date, whatevs. Fun times & you end up with the best strawberries. Hello Strawberry smoothies, ice cream, & shortcakes! I can't help but to eat a couple every single time I open the fridge. Yay for my second favorite fruit! Come & pick 'em at Henley Farms!

This is a bit challenging to rate because it's a farm so there's not much to be expected. I chose 3 stars because the sign from the road is small and you feel like you are entering a private residence's driveway before realizing that you're in the right place. There is a mix of dirt and gravel which if you're handicap might be challenging. Port-o-potties are available. There is a small market to purchase already picked produce along with local honey, a variety of homemade salsas, and fruit/nut butters too. They also have their fields open for U-Pick during Covid, which is awesome! I was able to pick my own blackberries and saw others picking corn, tomatoes, and green beans. I went in the middle of July and the sales associate stated they also do hayrides in the Fall with their pumpkin patch but weren't sure if it would be available this 2020. They have a fb page to visit for more current updates!

Brought the family out to have a fun day picking blackberries and enjoying the outside, when we came upon the lady who greeted us at the entrance to the farm. I have never met someone so blatantly rude at about simple misunderstanding about a question my girlfriend asked about garlic. It was unbelievable. After listening to her sarcastic comments and awful rhetoric, I packed up the family and we left. We were there all of about 2 minutes. I don't know if this lady owns the farm or is an employee. If she's an employee I wouldn't employ her and she is an embarrassment to the business. We obviously will not be coming back here again. There are other farms in the area we visited that have great customer interactions. Save yourself some time and the possibility of being berated by this nasty woman and stay away from this place.

My boyfriend and I had plans to spend our Saturday as a family picking blackberries and just making a day out of it. We ended up leaving because of the lady at the entrance of Henley Farms. My boyfriend and I wanted clarification on where things were and she was very dismissive and extremely rude. This is such a shame because we literally planned our day around this. Hopefully she can fix her terrible attitude so people can enjoy their experience at Henley Farm.
