Been sitting on this review for a few days. Walking into the shop, it's a 5/5. Easy ordering system, clean, nice staff and good drink set up. For me, the biscuit and iced tea just didn't hit the mark. Biscuit was dense and tasted heavy on the baking soda. Chicken was a huge portion, but the skin was burnt and coming off in chunks. Gravy was good consistency but lacking flavor. Bacon didn't add much to the party. I couldn't finish, which is rare for me and a biscuit! It sat heavy in my stomach all day. Plain iced tea tasted fruity like maybe machine components had been mixed up. Holidays can be a tough time for staffing and consistency, so I'll be back to try again! Very generous portions all around.

I've visited this HB location twice since mid-November and, to be honest, I'm not as enthusiastic with them as I used to be. When I used to visit Handsome Biscuit in Norfolk, it was almost an event to behold. I love their homemade sweet potato biscuits and was continuously impressed with how well they cooked their chicken. The gamechanger, for me, was their hash browns. Their hash browns were so good that I made it a point to grab at least two orders every time. That was a long time ago (i.e., pre-COVID), so I had no idea that they eventually phased them out. I was off on a rare weekday, and since I was in the area I decided to pick up a Hella Fitzgerald. Of course, because of my love for their hash browns, I was going to pick up 2 orders of that, but much to my chagrin I noticed that they only offered tots. Tots are fantastic, but I had my heart set on HB's hash browns. I went ahead and ordered the loaded tots, which were excellent, but they didn't wow me like their hash browns did. If HB is considering bringing their hash browns back, I'm all for it. Those things are so dang good that I'm okay with driving to VB just for those. HB took over the Tijuana Flats that was there for a little over a decade. The VB Handsome Biscuit is bigger, newer and more visually appealing than the Norfolk location. The Norfolk location has plenty of charm, but there were times when parking was an issue, and even if you were able to find parking, there's practically no inside seating. It became a turnoff during the winter months and any time the weather was undesirable. So I instantly prefer the VB Handsome Biscuit over the Norfolk one. The VB HB doesn't appear as busy as Norfolk's. When I came in on 11/25/24, I was the only customer there. They've modernized this location - they offer touchscreens to order (although I believe you can still order at the counter with a live person), which I used to check out any additions/subtractions to the menu. Since I mentioned it earlier, I went with their signature item, the Hella Fitzgerald (fried chicken with bacon, cheddar, and red eye pork sausage gravy). I added an egg to it, which made an already heavy entree even heavier. I'm not complaining since I love getting more for my dollar, but the chicken was actually overcooked. It was tough, dry and just didn't swim like their Fitzgerald normally does. I chalked it up to a simple off day, but I returned on 11/30/24, ordered a Stevie, and discovered another overcooked and dry chicken breast. Both sandwiches overall were still delicious, but if they're able to keep the chicken from getting overcooked, they will be on par with the Norfolk location. Based on my 2 visits, this Handsome Biscuit is a couple of tweaks from becoming a great spot. In the meantime, I'm leaning towards a 3 to 3.5 star effort. I will always think highly of Handsome Biscuit, but the VB location needs to keep a closer eye on their chicken... and bring back the hash browns! Thank you, Handsome Biscuit. You are still awesome! The other day I did a post on a place called "handsome biscuit" I had told y'all that I was on my way to a doctor's appointment when out the corner of my eye, I saw a place called handsome biscuit. Well it's a little less than a week later and I finally got to go there.I don't regret it at all and I'm sure they will be seeing me quite often. The pricing is pretty good. Each biscuit was nine dollars and change. I got the chicken biscuit with bacon, pimento cheese and pickle. My husband got the classic. His came with lettuce, tomato , cheese, pickle and House sauce. Definitely recommend this place.I'm not sure of the exact hours of closing, but I know they open up at 7 AM and I think they're open through early dinner. I went to the one on Virginia Beach Blvd. If you're traveling from the Ocean Front down Virginia Beach Blvd., it's a little past Burlington on the right hand side, in front of Aldi's.Finally, a place that sells food that actually looks like the pictures in their advertisement

I found my go-to chicken sandwich spot in the 757! Since moving to Hampton Roads, my goal has been to find my go-to spots, the spots I want to take anyone who comes to visit. I kept seeing this spot every time I ran errands on Virginia Beach Boulevard, and one busy morning, I stopped into Handsome Biscuit. I managed to catch them right before their morning rush. The menu is simple enough: sandwiches, wraps, tenders, sides, and various hot and cold drinks. For the sandwich, you can choose a biscuit or a bun. I ordered a shorty from the kiosk--a simple fried egg and cheddar cheese--and added a crispy fried chicken breast for additional protein. The biscuit was flaky and buttery, cooked to a golden brown color. The egg was fried hard with melting cheese, but the star was the fried chicken--a big piece of breaded chicken breast. It was well-seasoned and had a good crunch. The tots were good, but what made them better was the comeback sauce--a tangy, Smokey Chick-fil-A-like sauce. Of course, you can have a meal without a drink... I grabbed watermelon tea--cool and refreshing without tasting fake.

Totally forgot there was a Handsome Biscuit in Va Beach! I've been a fan since they first opened at the Norfolk location. I only knew about it as I was driving by running errands. I decided to place an order online so that it would be ready after the last of my errands were done. I went around noon, and already there was a line forming outside. You place your order at the self-kiosk and wait for your name to be called. It appeared there was some kind of technical issues because I got the text that my order was done, but when I went to the counter, they said they were still working on it. Other than that, the food was just as good as I remembered so it was worth the extra wait. Oh the Hella Fitzgerald and watermelon lemonade...delish!

Dangerously good! You would assume that a place with 'biscuit' in the name has amazing biscuits. Confirmed. But the other magic happens with the chicken. Perfect crispiness and a unique seasoning blend that sets it apart from other places serving chicken biscuit sandwiches. We tried the breakfast wraps too,..which were addictive. The unexpected compliment to the experience was the side of tots. (Yes...really...the tots) perfectly cooked and lightly salted. Not sure if there was something else going on there...but no other side is required. Just the tots. Besides the food, the service was fast, friendly, and helpful. Tucked away near Thalia, Handsome Biscuit is easy to miss from the road, but absolutely worth the effort for breakfast and lunch!

$18 for a sausage, egg & cheese biscuit, tots, & OJ. The biscuit was dry. Fortunately the tots and comeback sauce were great but for the price, I don't think I'll return.
